Good to have you back alt!!

This looks awesome!!
Are the sources open?

As an advice, you can ask people to add another key to their account and allow login with a passphrase and from that passphrase derive the private key (they added to their account).
The scheme that makes most sense and is used by Steemit.com looks like this

        SHA256(accountname + role + password)

where role is owner, active, or memo. The has is used as the private key. Python code looks like this:
https://github.com/xeroc/python-graphenelib/blob/master/graphenebase/account.py#L31-L34

I haven't managed to make this work... Can you please give ELI5 instructions?

For example I want to create a new account to test. I have created in bitshares DEX a new account.

On btsbots page:

1. If I go "add account" What is the private key I need to input? How do I find this?

2. If I go "add account" and then "create new" and I put I passport and click submit nothing happens.

Thanks for the help in advance

for now it  can only import private key.

you can see your active private key from this page:
https://bitshares.openledger.info/#/account/demo.btsbots/permissions/
select the tab of 'ACTIVE PERMISSIONS', click the icon left on your key, then you can see the private key.

this is a market maker bot under CNY/BTS market,
buy at price/1.01, sell at price*1.02,
when the price change more than 0.5%, or the balance change more than 50% will update the order.
I'll add the parameter after the demo test.
after 'Enable bot', you must open the webpage, keep your PC online. because the bot is running from the browser side.
I saw some operations of your account is made by the JS bot. becaues cancel and new order in the same transaction.
http://www.cryptofresh.com/tx/8bca68d06d239864b0fe408d8fc8466430120042

I'll add some information in the page to let user know if the bots are still running.
now you can open your browser's developer console to see some debug information.

after several days test, the trade bots execute great.
Now I open some parameter for custom the trade bots yourself.
1. import your account & active private key
2. go to the market page which you want to trade.
3. click the buy/sell button up the order book.
4. now you can choice Manual/'mm bot', click the 'mm bot' tab
5. input your spread, the default spread is 1.0, which means: if in the buy order book, the buy price is 1/(1+1.0%), if in the sell order book, the sell price is 1*(1+1.0%).
6. input your order balance, if you input 0, means remove this market.
7. check the 'Enable Bot' checkbox in the nav menu.
now the bots is running in your web browser, keep you network connect, keep your browser running.

1. BTS/smart coin/open.btc liked UIA, the price source come from main exchange like polo, btc38, okcoin, after some filter algorithm, it's used by my mm bots exchange.btsbots for a long time.
2. other asset, price source come from blockchain wallet market's filled history, some market is lack of liquidity, so the price is not much reliable.

The bot stops updating orders after some time of inactivity, until I refresh the web page. My desktop stays on, btsbots web page is loaded, wifi is on, network monitor shows some network activity. After refreshing the web page, orders keep changing for some time, then stop again. What may be the problem? Do I need to set up some kind of auto-refresh?

It works now. It is funny to watch how several bots toss money between each other :)

add a new important feature:
in the market page, I will add several special orders, which is not really exist, but can buy from other  market with arbitrage bots.
I will provide exchange service based on the arbitrage bots. users can sent funds to my arbitrage bots, and get the best price from this service.

several people are using btsbots's mm bot service now.
because I'm not very family with the web develop. the setting page for mm bot is still not complete
you can use develop console of your browser for some setting if you want.
1. set limit for the total balance of your account. you need set localStorage.bots_limit in develop console, then refresh your web page to load it.
for example:
localStorage.bots_limit=JSON.stringify({"PEERPLAYS": "2000", "BLOCKPAY": "150", "OBITS": "2000", "CNY": "300", "USD": "500"})
this means the bots will not buy PEERPLAYS if your total balance of PEERPLAYS is more than 2000 CNY.

2. use your local price  as reference.you need to set localStorage.local_price in develop console, then refresh the page.
for example
localStorage.local_price=JSON.stringify({"CADASTRAL": ["0.5001", "BTS"], "OPEN.USD": ["1.0", "USD"]})

This feature (or similar) was being discussed long before.
@pc knows much.  (Depth of internal markets are much deeper than what we can see in the "official" client now).

IMHO it's best if integrate it into the "official" client. Not bad that you're now operating this as a public services though.

In fact, you just need click the price column of the order, and make a normal order with this price.
the arbitrage bots will take your order because of a bit profit.
you can try it if you found some good price.

and I will add some other options for this service, just like before, user sent fund to exchagne.btsbots, with a price and asset name in the memo,
exchange.btsbots will take the order and sent funds back to user

many other improve for traders.
for example when you click a price of an order and want take it, sometimes you'll failure because of a precision problem.
you'll never meet this problem in btsbots.com

I have change the description from "exchange from BTSBots" to " trade with arbitrage bot".
there are some different between these two.
"exchange from BTSBots" means user sent asset A to exchange.btsbots, and exchange.btsbots buy  asset B for user from other markets.
so there are no trade in market A/B, the trade fees for asset A and B are saved.

'trade with arbitrage bot' is a bit expensive than "exchange from BTSBots"

I'll change back to "exchange from BTSBots" when the develop complete.

In fact, you just need click the price column of the order, and make a normal order with this price.

Thanks for building this MM Bot. It's great for the less technical amongst us and can really help bootstrap liquidity. I've been playing with it a lot today.
My only issue is the non transparent reference point. Why can't it be the same as the feed price from witnesses?

feed price used to protect margin call, it's allowed to have some latency, for now it's about 30 minutes. this is very danger for traders.
current reference price is generated by btsprice,  it's used by some witness as feed price scripts. used by mm bot 'exchange.btsbots' as reference price about 1 year, and it's open source here:
https://github.com/pch957/btsprice

any way, it's always better to provide more different way for the mm bot.
I'll try to open more options for mm bot in the future, include the reference price.

thanks for your advice and thanks for everyone who is help test the mm bot.

You could improve account overview representation with little effort. You show several tables which show account balance and trade volumes, with the last column showing the value in CNY for each asset. This is very useful. It would be great if you add a number for total CNY value, which is a sum of rows in "Value(CNY)" column in each table. This would allow to see a net asset value of account and its change without using calculator.

This is impressive and developing rapidly. This is exciting precisely because liquidity is bitshares biggest issue, this will allow many people to provide liquidity and become market makers.  More people need to know about it, Maybe I will make a demonstration video to show others how to use it. If everyone put $500 towards the Market Maker Bots then maybe bitusd would be liquid enough to be useful.

an important update
I have implement the authentication system for server side just now.
client sent an object with timestamp info, and add a signature with the private key.
server side verify the signature and the time info.

so the same account from different device/browser will sync the profile data in realtime.
this means, you can adjust the bot's parameter from mobile phone when you are outside, and the PC at home which running the bots will react in the same time.
and this include other data, include:  favorate market/account/asset ...

the data should sync to server automatic.
if something wrong, you have lost the bots config, you can open the develop console, and run : copy_from_local()
this will sync the local data to server side. (private key not include)

2. use your local price  as reference.you need to set localStorage.local_price in develop console, then refresh the page.
for example
localStorage.local_price=JSON.stringify({"CADASTRAL": ["0.5001", "BTS"], "OPEN.USD": ["1.0", "USD"]})
after this update localStorage not use for bots config any more. the command have change to:
set_profile('local_price', {"CADASTRAL": ["0.5001", "BTS"], "OPEN.USD": ["1.0", "USD"]})
....

this means, you can adjust the bot's parameter from mobile phone when you are outside, and the PC at home which running the bots will react in the same time.
and this include other data, include:  favorate market/account/asset ...

No sh.t! I see all my settings on remote device now. This is GREAT!

make a tutorial please

You need to go through several steps.

1. First, you need to create an account. Just got to btsbots.com and follow the instructions. To use your existing bitshares account, you need to import its active private key from openledger.

2. To view your account, select it from a drop down list with user icon at top-right. The account overview page shows account balance, 1 day trade volume, 28 days trade volume and 28 days balance change for each asset, their equivalent values in CNY and total value for all assets in CNY. A number at the top of the right column (trade balance(28 day)) shows you how your trading is performing. If it is positive, you are doing good. To add a new account to favorite list, type its url, e.g.

https://btsbots.com/u/exchange.btsbots

and click a little heart icon at top-right. Now you can select exchange.btsbots from the favorite list. To remove account from favorites, select it and unclick the heart icon.

3. A bitcoin icon next to user icon at top-right drops down a list of favorite assets. When you select an asset, it shows you a bunch of asset info related to trading. To add a new asset to this list, type its url, e.g.

https://btsbots.com/a/OBITS

and click a little heart icon at top-right.

4. Left column shows you a list of favorite pairs. To add a pair, type its url

https://btsbots.com/m/BTS_USD

and click a little heart icon at top-right. You can invert base vs counter asset by typing "inverted" url

https://btsbots.com/m/USD_BTS

A number against each pair shows a feed price. It is different from openledger feed price, because it is updated more frequently.

5. Once you selected a market, you can start trading.

 5a. You can place an order manually by pressing "buy" or "sell" buttons or;

5b. You can set up a bot to make trading for you by pressing "bot" button.

   - First, you set up a spread relative to feed price. A number in the "Spread" field on the left means that you are buying at feed_price/(1+X/100). A number in the "Spread" field on the right means that you are selling at feed_price*(1+X/100).  X may be positive, negative or zero.

   - Next, you need to set the amount to trade denominated in CNY (why not just the amount of traded asset?).

   - Finally, check "Enable Bot" box at top-right, lean back and relax. The bot will update orders for you when the price moves. If the order is taken, the bot will continue to place new orders until funds are available or until you stop it. To stop the bot, uncheck "Enable Bot" box or place 0 for order amount.

In order for bot to keep running, you need to keep btsbots.com page opened and device connected to internet. You can check your account status or change bot params from any other device, just go to btsbots.com and import your active private key. You can trade more than one pair at same time using the same account. I am currently trading 15 different pairs and the bot is doing a great job. No way I could manage this manually.

P.S. Btsbots is a trade oriented client. If you want to use such features of bitshares as bitAsset shorting, voting or change permissions, you'll need to use the official client. It would be so great if two of them were merged together.

About the api of BTSBots, I will open one by one after test.
there are 2 api is opening now.
1. for current balance.
1) get holders for asset PEERPLAYS
https://btsbots.com/api/balance?where=a==PEERPLAYS&page=1 (https://btsbots.com/api/balance?where=a==PEERPLAYS&page=1)
2) get balance for account
https://btsbots.com/api/balance?where=u==baozi (https://btsbots.com/api/balance?where=u==baozi)

2. for balance change history
https://btsbots.com/api/balance_change?where={ "B": {"$lte": 11800000, "$gte": 11700000}, "a": "PEERPLAYS"} (https://btsbots.com/api/balance_change?where={ "B": {"$lte": 11800000, "$gte": 11700000}, "a": "PEERPLAYS"})

with these two api, you can get the snapshot of any asset at any block.
and the server response xml or json automaticly depend onthe head. It will return json if you try the url with curl or python.

Could someone please help? I think the btsbot has lost over 200k BTS in about 48hrs!

In an effort to help with market liquidity I created the mrkmkr account and funded it with about 760,000 BTS.

It was set to trade the following pairs at 2% spread:

USD/BTS

SILVER/BTS

GOLD/BTS

PEERPLAYS/BTS

CNY/BTS

CRYPTOCEEDS/BTS

COMPUCEEDS/BTS

I've just stopped the bot; when I started the bot the left column showed 23,148 CNY; now it shows 17,735 CNY. Did I really just loose >5000 CNY ?!?!

A number at the top of the right column (trade balance(28 day)) shows you how your trading is performing. If it is positive, you are doing good. To add a new account to favorite list, type its url, e.g.

The number in the top right of the 28 trade balance is - 6578.28.

Alt - can you please have a look at the trade history and let me know what the heck happened?

I'm not in this to make a bunch of profit, and would be happy to help with liquidity for no profit, but I think I've just experienced a >20% loss in a couple days!

EDIT: I've just spent an hour running every combo of bots I can think of, spreads/single pairs/multiple pairs/buy and sell/buy only/sell only etc. and everything I do loses money almost instantly. Can someone please let me know what I'm doing wrong? I must be missing something.

It also looks like the bot has bought a ton of compuceeds and very little of everything else. Anyone know what the heck compuceeds are, or why I now own 12k CNY worth?

Is there anyway to get the bot to trade everything back to BTS? Looking like a real mess right now!

EDIT2: Holy f*ck the bot seems to have purchased 5686122490 compuceeds, which are some type of token that seems to be rapidly devaluing. I added the pair as it was the one of the highest volume and lots of bots were trading along with cryptoceeds. How the hell did I end up buying so much of this worthless token and so little of every other pair being traded by the bot? Freaking out a little here folks, compuceed market looks to be totally illiquid on the sell side. I need to unwind these positions asap! Please help!

some asset like COMPUCEEDS is very danger for trader
the issuer of COMPUCEEDS dumped maybe 5 billions  COMPUCEEDS these two days. and the price changed from 0.00013 to 0.00008.

to reduce your lose, I have two suggestion:
1. set a balance limit for the asset lack of liquidity. or asset with high risk
2. set a local price for these assets. for COMPUCEEDS, you can try to set the price to 0.0001 BTS
3. increase the spread of these assets. from the order book of COMPUCEEDS/BTS. there are not many sell order in the price lower than 0.0002. you can try to sell the spread to 30 or more.
4. reduce the order's balance for sell COMPUCEEDS. maybe between 300 CNY to 900 CNY. a big sell order will scared the traders for selling.

I've followed your tutorial in setting this up! Here is the order entry:

I did the exact same thing for all asset pairs: set spread to 2% and order balance to 23,000 CNY in both buy and sell. My understanding was that the bot would buy and sell any time it could book the spread.

Instead of buying and selling, the bot appears to have bought (and not sold!) a huge amount of COMPUCEEDS. Why? Why are all the other bots buying and selling, and my bot bought up all the COMPUCEEDS? Why didn't my bot buy up SILVER, OPEN.BTS, USD etc?

Your language is not all helpful in this situation! I am very much using my brain and did not 'buy' billions of worthless tokes... the bot bought billions of worthless tokens following your directions. The whole point of a market making bot is not to take huge positions in single asset! I appear to have just lost thousands of dollars!

I need help to get my 750k BTS out of this mess and trading properly so I can hopefully recover some these losses. Can you please use some of your knowledge and experience with the trading bot to provide direction?

My trade balance is now at - 7107.85 CNY in just two days! No matter what I do, the balance just keeps getting more negative. Obviously I am doing something wrong but I don't see what or how. Enter spread and amount on buy and sell orders, click enable bot. It's not rocket science but it has cost me more than $1000 USD in the past 48 hrs. That is insane!  I need help, not smug remarks about using my brain.

Hi alt - thanks for responding so quickly!

Could you please tell me how to do steps (1) and (2)? I can increase spread and change the order balance but don't see any way to set balance limits or limit prices.

Could you also please provide direction on how to sell the COMPUCEEDS instead of just market making?

Here is what I have set for the https://btsbots.com/m/COMPUCEEDS_BTS pair:

This doesn't seem to do anything, whether I use the bot or enter a simpe sell order like this:

I apparently hold 5699158394.8463 COMPUCEEDS but only have a 'usable balance' of 0.0001 COMPUCEEDS. How is this possible? I don't seem to be able to sell any of the assets the bot acquired.

More disturbingly my account balance keeps dropping steadily even without trading, have lost another 300 CNY in the past 4 hours for no apparent reason. I need to get this fixed asap, help much appreciated.

Why choice so much.please only choice:
USD/BTS

CNY/BTS

I started running the bot with just USD and CNY, but I really wanted to help with liquidity in the less liquid markets. So once I was comfortable with the USD/CNY pairs I fired up the other markets and let it run for a while. No good deed goes unpunished.

I just don't understand why the bot largely ignored every other market and bought up billions of compuceeds. It makes no sense, I feel like I've been scammed somehow. I see lots of bots trading in the compuceed market and they don't seem to be acquiring huge balances. I also can't see anything I did wrong, same settings for all trading pairs.

Ok, now I'm really confused. Sell order on btsbots site does nothing - does not create an order and I can't seem to sell any COMPUCEEDS manually.

Setting the bot per my previous post with 30 spread and smaller orders of 300-600 CNY does nothing.

Now I just tried to use the DEX to sell the COMPUCEEDS and guess what? Can't sell. Price of COMPUCEEDS just shows up as 0.000000, apparently unit price is below the DEX precision. This whole situation is seeming really, really fishy. The bot seems to have just allowed the COMPUCEEDS issuer to dump a shitload of worthless tokens at my expense.

What the hell is going on? I need an answer as to why a market making bot purchased more than 5 BILLION COMPUCEEDS and didn't do any actual market making.

Did I get scammed somehow?

Because others are selling at better price than you offer. Check the order book. The way around this is to adjust the spread. To sell more and to buy less, you need to increase buy spread and decrease sell spread, like 10% for buy and 0% for sell (these number are just for example, you need to come up with your own).

Why didn't my bot buy up SILVER, OPEN.BTS, USD etc?

Again, because others are buying at better price than you. During last 24 hours my bot bought and sold over 1 OPEN.BTC for me. Adjust your spread based on current orders and trends.

And of course, you need to be extremely careful when trading such shitty tokens like compuseeds, and never invest into trading more than you can lose without much damage to your budget.

Just to be clear: neither me, nor anybody else here can give you any financial advises. All we can provide is technical guide for using trading bot based on our experience. You should realize that trading is gambling. Unlike casino gambling, you have a little higher chance to win than to lose if you trade the right way, but still you trade at your own risk. Every trading guide made by professional traders out there starts with the warning: never invest more than you can afford to lose.

Well oldman will be really happy when, according to that mars resident compuceeds dude, "Compuceeds will go to $1 each!, Hugz!".

Sorry about your loss, oldman.  Trading bots are inherently dangerous.  Unless you know how they work or you were the creator, you won't know how they react to different market conditions.  Heck even if you are the creator you there's a good chance you blow up your account during some unforeseen market occurrence.  Unfortunately there is no "demo" trading for crypto bots.

You are right. I started with about 2700 CNY worth of different assets two month ago, when you announced btsbots, and made about 1K CNY profit during last month, which made me feel so good :)

Thanks for making your bots public  +5%

Hey man, that's FANTASTIC!  Way to go!

Do you have any tips for those yet to see that kind of return (lol)?

Only technical tips

https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php/topic,23457.msg300564.html#msg300564

Financial tips are dangerous, because what works for me may not work for you. You have to figure out yourself how much do you want to invest and which markets to trade. Two things that everybody should avoid though: don't overinvest and stay away from shitty assets.

I have add USDT:BTC price from poloniex, update every 1 minute
you can use this price from bot->config->custom price
for example you can set the price of OPEN.BTC to 1.0 POLONIEX:USDT_BTC
when you run the bots, you can open the develop console,
run get_price("OPEN.BTC")/get_price('USD') to check if it's correct.

there are 88 register accounts in btsbots.com now
and about 10-20 active market bots active
wish you have fun.

in fact the bots service not only for market maker
everyone who want to sell or buy something can use the bot to get a better offer.
if you dump tons of BTS you will lose much, but if you sell with the bot service, you can sell slowly, even get profit.
if you want buy tons of BTS, you should use the bot too.

welcome everyone, enjoy the trade fun.

Thanks Alt,  btsbots is really cool and more people should be using it. I want to make a video tutorial to show others how to use it.
But theres a few bits I'm still unsure of.

- what is the 388614.04 YUAN display above the market pairs?
- can you get the gui to show the price reference ?
- can i enter any asset pair in the browser address bar?
- are my private keys never revealed and always kept in my browser?

BTWTY/BTS price is also far from feed price provided by witnesses.
because it's allowed to have about 30 minutes delay for the feed price from witness.
the feed price almost can't use to run a trade bot.
maybe I'll give a more reasonable price  after I learn more about BTWTY.

pay attention btbots's uers, you need to take care of your bots, make sure there are enough BTS for the order fees. we don't support other asset as order fee now.
account tpo-bot1 and open1, you have out of BTS already, I have sent you each 100 BTS to continue.

normally, the bots will keep at least 100 BTS for the  future fees. but if all your BTS in the order book have sold out. and always can't buy back BTS. the reserve 100 BTS will run out too.

Hi Marko,

I saw your answer to how to lock bts the other day, explaining how bitCrab had converted them to bitUSD. It was very synthetic and you seem very knowledgeable. Could you perhaps do something similar in this thread for Market Making? I can't get my head around how to make money on the spread in certain market conditions - like if the market is moving up or moving down. If it is range-bound I understand. It seems like you would either not be able to buy below the current price because the market would move away from you if it was going up, or your orders would be filled if it was moving down but you could never sell back above your buy price. Especially in an automated scenario this seems dangerous.

If you have any insight you are willing to share I'm sure many people would like to help using btsBots to provide liquidity to certain markets.

If you can't answer that's also ok.  :)

Cheers.

Spread is set relative to feed price, and this controls bot behavior. When the market is moving up or down relative to feed price, btsbot starts to consume liquidity to nudge the market price to the feed price. For example, take OPEN.BTC/BTS pair. When BTC/BTS price at poloniex goes down, my btsbot starts taking bid offers pushing OPEN.BTC/BTS down too.

If the feed price is derived from trade history instead of other exchanges, it is quite unpredictable.

Sorry, I don't know much, and I'm trying to understand everything myself. I think the risk you described is mostly if you provide liquidity manually. Also, the more trading there is in a market, the less risky is providing liquidity, because you constantly earn the spread. My strategy has been to choose assets I believe in, and provide markets between them. If someone eats up all my orders in the USD:MAID market either way, I will end up holding something I would hold anyway - while helping make the DEX awesome.

Providing liquidity is a possibility in an immature market like our DEX. Once markets become very active, the spread gets really small. Then we have other possibilities. So I'm glad for this possibility, and will try to make the most of it. I'm glad you're interested too.

This is a good strategy imo. Same here, I don't trade assets which I would not hold, although  some crappy tokens can be very profitable short term. Fast profit possibility always comes with great risk.

Hey guys,

I'm curious about BTSBOTS. I know bitshares need liquidity to bootstrap some markets. Now, since I'm a marketer and far from being a highly technical guy, I'm curious to know more about it.

1. Can I run a bot profitably?
2. How risky is it?
3. What are the incentives to run a bot myself?
4. How much should I invest in order to make it work?
Title: Re: btsbots wallet release v0.0.1

add some price from poloniex, include :
POLONIEX:USDT_BTC
POLONIEX:USDT_ETH
POLONIEX:USDT_DASH
POLONIEX:BTC_STEEM
POLONIEX:BTC_MAID

the app will update several hours later, you can try in the browser now.

I have add USDT:BTC price from poloniex, update every 1 minute

Could someone give me some very clear instructions how to set up a bot for the USD:MAID market? All the price feeds seem to return CNY, which makes it complicated to set up a USD market.
Title: Re: btsbots wallet release v0.0.1

1. enable the bot of market USD/OPEN.MAID https://btsbots.com/m/USD_OPEN.MAID (https://btsbots.com/m/USD_OPEN.MAID), with a test spread 100.
2. go to the bot config pagehttps://btsbots.com/settings (https://btsbots.com/settings), define your custom price for OPEN.MAID with 1 POLONIEX:BTC_MAID,
3. go to the market page, you'll see the ref price of USD/OPEN.MAID is sync with poloniex. adjust the spread/balance to active your mm bot.

I've got many help from community members recently.
for example: the icon/splash, Russian Language, a  learning video.
thank you all.

I feel it's better to give BTSBots to the community.
but I don't want give all these to others who forked BTS.
so I will open source all code step by step.

first I'll give the web source code.
with these code everybody can build the android/IOS APP, and can make sure the private key is safety save in local.and can write his own  trade bots in Javascript.
the code is based on meteor+blaze, I am trying to rewrite all code in meteor+react before make it open source.
If somebody is interesting in these, is good in react, and can help to clean these code, can contract me, get all the code now.

second I'll give the backend code.
several parts, most written in Python, about how to update all data to the mongodb database, include: orders, balance, price feed....

FEEDBACK from a newbie

Those questions may seem ridiculous to you but that may give you an insight of how a complete newbie thinks...

I really want to provide liquidity but I need your help to understand this part:

First: What is the "Order Balance" and why is it in CNY? Afterall, I'm in the USDT/BTS market...that's confusing.
Second: My guess is that I have to input spread on both side in order to provide liquidity is that true?
Third: What should I input in the "Spread" section? 1% or -1% (Maybe it would be good to put a default value in there for the complete newbie who just want to run a bot quickly and then once he has more experience, he can easily tinker with it?)
Fourth: How do I make sure the orders won't empty my wallet of BTS when I turn the bot on?

No, this would not be good, because a spread you wan to put strongly depends on current order book in a market you want to trade.

1.) size of your order in CNY equivalent (because this bot was created for the Chinese who understand value best in CNY)
2.) if you just run a buy bot or just a sell bot you are still helping liquidity
3.) put positive amounts in both buy and sell. The total of these will be your spread
4.)click BOTS > SETTINGS then enter a "asset balance limit" this will stop the bot buying more than you want it to.

I believe that this thing is the #1 best invention to add value to bitshares...now it does need a lot of work to make it more user friendly and if we can have video tutorial to teach people how to make it work for them, I think we've got an army of people who would love to use it.

But it took me 3 weeks to get my head around it because I was worried I would drain my BTS funds with it among other unknowns that kept me from taking action.

Is there an option for 2FA on Bitshares?

Is there a way to have multiple bots on a market, for different spreads (1%, 3%, 10%)?

Is there an option for 2FA on Bitshares?

Is there a way to have multiple bots on a market, for different spreads (1%, 3%, 10%)?

Answered #2 by creating a separate bot.

However, the feeds on some assets (LSK, OMNI, LTC) seem to be wrong (very delayed). Is there a way to see a live check on all of your Poloniex feeds?

Is there an issue with these?

Screenshot of lisk price being about 50% behind:

https://postimg.org/image/gvv9hheul/ (https://postimg.org/image/gvv9hheul/)

Another new question - is there a way to calculate a feed by dividing two feeds?

Example, I want to market make on USDT/OMNI

Example, Omni is .005, BTC is 1100, .005/1100 = $4.54 for feed price.

Doable?

Thanks!

I am now offering a nice deep market on LSK. Can add as demand increases and tighten the spreads. There is a weird issue though - Price is displaying correctly on OpenLedger. Anyone else noticing or fixing this? Should be a few decimals over. Seems to have BTC amounts right. Also, I can never seem to see my trade history from within the market chart page. Anyone else having this issue?

http://pasteboard.co/6v37kmL6.png

Adding others soon. How often do feeds update, and where can I track these? Please add markets for DCR, XCP, FLO, ZEC, and ETC, will offer them all.

Great bot. I would like to donate and support future development for added features.

Still though, no way to 2FA on OpenLedger ?? Whats safest way to save BTS?

2fa does not work on blockchain level. remember: you're responsible for your private keys, OL does not hold them.

please let me know if there are some other gateway,
because you can't trade these assets without gateway.

the feeds price from poloniex update every 1 minute.

I can't seem to run a bot on OPEN.GRC:OPEN.BTC, are there price feeds from poloniex for Gridcoin?

Are there plans for additional price feeds from alternative exchanges?

Also, I spotted a small potential glitch in the website - when I try to remove the default favourite trading pairs and add my own favourite pairs, the default pairs return and erase some of my favourite pairs.

Cheers

ALT,

Can the bot work on a UIA asset that doesn't have a price feed, such as STEEMFACTORY?
you can trade all asset if you can get the reference price.
for some asset lack of trade history, no reference price from btsbots.com,
you can set a custom price in the bots->config page

here is the detail for all reference price source

1. from script btsprice which used by delegate.baozi
1) all MPA issued by commiittee
    "KRW", "BTC", "SILVER", "GOLD", "TRY",
"SGD", "HKD", "RUB", "SEK", "NZD", "CNY",
"MXN", "CAD", "CHF", "AUD", "GBP", "JPY",
    "EUR", "USD", "TCNY", "TUSD", "ARS"
2) some UIA issued by trusty gateway:
    "BTC": ["OPEN.BTC", "TRADE.BTC"], "USD": ["OPEN.USD", "OPEN.USDT"],
    "EUR": ["OPEN.EUR"], "CNY": ["OPEN.CNY"], "RUB": ["RUBLE"]}

2. from exchange poloniex.com
1) some UIA asset
    "OPEN.ETH", "OPEN.DASH", "OPEN.STEEM", "OPEN.MAID", "OPEN.LTC", "OPEN.OMNI", "OPEN.LISK"
2) special SYMBOL can used in bots config page
    "POLONIEX:USDT_BTC"

3. all other asset's price are get from DEX's trade history with simple alg,
it's not trusted enough if the depth is bad, you'd better set a custom price for these assets.
and there are no price from some assets, because they are lack of trade history

Enjoying the app,

What features are you working on for the advanced release?

One area I'm really struggling is reporting and order history, cost basis, etc.

Is this something Open Ledger provides?

I found where you can export CSV, but it doesn't seem to be working for my order history?

One thing I'd really like is the ability to see what Price was paid on your recent orders, as well as your live cost basis for all positions on the account (that have been traded - not transferred)

Might be possible in the bot ??  8)

Recommend at least 250-300% BTS collateral

This is a very questionable recommendation. By shorting bitAsset, you bet on its future price, and if your bet is wrong, you better take your loss sooner than later. Unless you are long on BTS at very long term.

yes, it's correct
like the wallet in https://bitsahres.openledger.info, private key only saved in the client, never reached server.
but there is a risk that I cheat all of you, change the JS code, send your private key to server side.
so I need to open source the client  ASAP, then you can compile the  app yourself, make sure your private key never sent to server side.

Hi alt,

thank you for your work, I think one can't overestimate the value the rise in liquidity brought to bitshares by your software.
I see that it's pretty work-in-progress. And want to make a few wishes, if I may:

* An oversight of all available markets with informations about the used price feed.
I was trading DASH the other day, low liquidity there still, and was a bit worried about the price feed quality. Sometimes the prices changed but my bots didn't react. Other bots seemed not to follow the same feed, and some actions observed with others bots didn't seem to make sense. Maybe everything is alright, but I'm lacking these informations about the price feed to throw real money at such a market.

PS: I saw you writing, that Dash price feed is the poloniex data.

* Safeguard against bad or broken connections:
The main reason I halted trading for now is that I assume my connection to be poor. I don't know if I get all feeds on time and sometimes the websocket connection is lost which leaves open orders unattended. It would be nice if the client would be able to recognize delayed data (maybe a timestamp in the feed data) and missed data (if that can be the possible in websocket, maybe a index number in the feed data). Any of these events, plus the worst case a broken websocket connection, could set the client in emergency mode, making him desperately try to reconnect and cancel all orders immediately.
Title: Re: btsbots wallet release v0.0.1
Post by: 8ejM on May 08, 2017, 02:26:13 pm
PS: The price feed is simple last trade ticker data, right? I'm asking, because I see 8% changes up and down:

Code: [Select]
cancel order --- OPEN.DASH USD
because of price: 99.10707803964283 change to 107.90515943227852 ----
new order OPEN.DASH USD  amount: 7.142857142857142 price: 107.90515943227852
cancel order --- OPEN.DASH OPEN.BTC
because of price: 0.06632999839798 change to 0.07240041489940716 ----

The price goes down a few seconds again.

Maybe it would be better than to exclude mini trades from the feed, so that only trades >$100 are taken into account.

Also the bot seems to refer to the price of the last session under some circumstances:

Code: [Select]
run bots
new order OPEN.DASH BTS  amount: 7.500000000000001 price: 2628.9024795702967
new order OPEN.DASH USD  amount: 7.499999999999999 price: 124.16536069244391
run bots
cancel order --- OPEN.DASH BTS
because of price: 2628.9024786666664 change to 1985.2493480088676 ----
new order OPEN.DASH BTS  amount: 7.5 price: 1985.2493480088676
cancel order ---- OPEN.DASH USD
because of price: 124.1653601655538 change to 93.76506100000002 -----
new order OPEN.DASH USD  amount: 7.5 price: 93.76506100000002

See the price drop from 2629 to 1985 and 124 to 94 just after starting the bot. Bad thing is, orders were given before correction occurs. Nothing happend this time but this could result in huge losses.

Debug info:
Computer was turned off after last session, restarted and reconnected after about 12h, ip should also be a new one.

seems the price change much after you halt your computer.
but bots can't update your order when your browser is not acitve, because all code is running in the client side.
so when you open btsbots.com again, the bots update the old orders.

Debug info:
Computer was turned off after last session, restarted and reconnected after about 12h, ip should also be a new one.

have you resolve the problem?
I have no idea about these output.

Something wrong with btsbots? I'm unable to get the bot running today, and I've got the following errors in the console:

Side note - the android application seems to freeze/stutter when I use the chat, specifically when my keyboard is opened to type with.

these is the logic, if the client can't get the newest block  in time, it will pause the bot,

Hi alt,

thank you for your work, I think one can't overestimate the value the rise in liquidity brought to bitshares by your software.

Any of these events, plus the worst case a broken websocket connection, could set the client in emergency mode, making him desperately try to reconnect and cancel all orders immediately.

yes, for OPEN.DASH, simple  use last ticker data from poloniex.
I  have no idea, why it change such more.

Hi Alt,

no, I know,  so I normally cancel all orders from my wallet after stopping all bots and closing the connection (I reckon closing the tab also closes the active websocket connection). So there were no old orders.
The log I was providing is the log of a just freshly started bot (after complete shutdown of the computer and 12h). The bot gave these orders just after start up and canceled them just after that, when he got a new price. But presumable the old price was saved from the former session and used until new price feeds went in and corrected the situation. Just guessing.

But I can assure you that there were no open orders from the last session when I started the bot. I know from my own experience that users sometimes are confident that a setup was like this or that and rule out any user error. But I'm 100% confident there were no old orders simply because there were no 15 DASH on that account in the last session.

Thanks for looking into this.

A guess you mean the ticker feed on top of the poloniex api page (https://poloniex.com/support/api/ (https://poloniex.com/support/api/)). And you take the "last" trade value, right? What about
Code: [Select]
("lowestAsk" + "highestBid")/2 . This could get a little better prices.

and something very strange happened
I have run several witness_node, and some python scripts update transaction from these nodes with websocket connect.
but I saw all scripts exist at  19:07:07(TZ+0)  because of lost websocket connection with no reason.
I don't know what the reason, only found there are so many filled order at that time.
I guess I need to handler these type of error. automatic restart the script.

First thing to do is to open the javascript console to check for any log messages. Post the log along with your problem, that helps a lot to isolate the problem.
Search for web console <your browser>  if you don't know how to open the console.

Then I'm selecting my account and market

press  execute

Then selecting Bots > Enable Bot

Looks fine so far.

The fonts thing is not dramatic, you will just fall back to another fonts.

The version tag thing, I also get, but I never had problems with the bot not running. So I guess we can rule out that.

When the bot is running, I will show
Code: [Select]
run botsevery now and then. But apparently for some reasons your but is not running. I guess you have to wait for alt (the creator) for an answer or further debugging advice.

Does anyone have a basic way to get started and actually profit? I have watched  both the video JohnnyBitcoin did and read the article and they only explain how to get BTSBOTS working.

What are some basic trading strategies one should know for setting the settings?

For example, a trader is bullish on BTC, what would be the settings you would set?  2% on buy side and 1% on sell side?

What if you just want to create liquidity? would set  buy and sell to 1%in a larger more liquid market like CNY, USD, ETH, BTS?

What if you are bearish on a certain coin?

What if you just want to accumulate and make a small profit?

I have trading for couple days now and seem to be losing money so far

Because the Bitshares fees are so small, assuming mean reversion, almost any reasonably tight spread should be profitable, in the long run. You might like to keep your minimum order sizes in the $20+ range, because orders walk on this bot, given the anaemic trading volume.

For example, a trader is bullish on BTC, what would be the settings you would set?  2% on buy side and 1% on sell side?

That's one option, another method would be to trade with borrowed bitUSD debt, against accumulated equity in bitBTC tokens. Set a limit on the bot settings, for all currencies, so that your bot can gap when bitcoin moons.

What if you just want to create liquidity? would set  buy and sell to 1%in a larger more liquid market like CNY, USD, ETH, BTS?

A helpful contribution, to the success of Bitshares and its value in turn. Nothing wrong with going sub 1% on something like USD:EUR

What if you are bearish on a certain coin?

Borrow a modest amount of it (bitJPY), and sell it for something you're bullish about.

What if you just want to accumulate and make a small profit?

It's a question of having perfect information vs assuming mean reversion

I have trading for couple days now and seem to be losing money so far

Ah, but are you losing money 'according to your model'  :-\  ;D

I just release a python client for btsbots.com
you can run the trade bots from python instead from the web page now.
so you can run multi instance trade bots,
you can run the bots in a Raspberry Pi, or a VPS

1. install
pip3 install btsbots --upgrade

2. stop the web page trade bots, and start the python bots, run command in your terminal:
btsbots

everytime  start the bots, it will ask for username and the activate private key,
because it never save the key to disk.

the source code is in github:
https://github.com/pch957/python-btsbots
you can change it to run your own bots.

That's awesome. However, I was not able to install it on Fedora because of https://github.com/ludbb/secp256k1-py/issues/22. Can you help with this?

I'm working on a native wallet for btsbots, there is a demo now.

Did you ever get anywhere with more feed (customize where it feeds from) options and P&L options? As well as price protections (min, max, etc.)

btsbots.com will not support the fork because of the unreasonable trade logic.

so if this fork happened, btsbots will stop all service for Bitshares.
include feed price source and trade bots etc.

Hi Alt, I’ve been using btsbots for a while now, thanks for creating it! We are working on a worker proposal to create a new bot. We’d absolutely love your opinion on it and any help you had to offer. Here’s the link to the thread

Upcoming WP for creating easy to use liquidity bots. Feedback please!

Which fork is this?
If he is talking about the upcoming network upgrade (https://github.com/bitshares/bitshares-core/releases/tag/2.0.171025), then I have no clue what @alt is talking about.
There are no changes to the "trade logic" - there only is BSIP18 introduced which allows restarting black swanned bitassets.

Can you two please connect and work this out because losing BTSbots would be damaging to BTS, moreso than this network upgrade in the short term.

Hi alt,

You are one of the oldest and most respected members of BTS but it appears that something made you upset. I have never used your bot but have heard a lot of praises from other community members. Your contribution to BTS is well known and recorded in the history of this forum. Early days Toast used to call you best  bug slasher or something like that  :).
You are one of the early BTS heroes who stayed  with BTS through good times and bad times and you just kept contributing.
Your bot brought us much needed liquidity during hard and good times and started becoming much needed and used tool by the community.

That is why I was surprised  to hear that you are stoping use of your bot quite suddenly.
I am writing to you this post in the hope that you will  at least explain in bit more details why did you make your decision.
But in the same if you don't wish to respond that is fine and your right.

In any case thank you for all your contribution to the community  so far and hope it continues in the future.

Aloha  :)

thanks for the kind words.
I'm just tired to be the bad guy here.
I am very disapoint about the BSIP18 fork.
they make the price of SILVER almost 4X, it's the worsest accident in Bitshares.
but the share holder think this is right.

the force settle shouldn't be allowed before the feed price worked.
then SILVER would not become such a Joke.
who made this silly logic in the core?
and who take responsibility for it?

no, in fact the share holders think this logic is right.
they have done another awesome worker.
congratulations to the Great Bitshares community.

I'm not following. What do you mean 4x? Why is this the first time you are bringing this up (silver)?

Urgent (since we're not going to get answers from BTSbots dev, looks like):

Now that BTSBots is  gone, liquidity (# of orders) has nearly evaporated per Cryptofresh charts.

How is this movement going (not-btsbots): https://steemit.com/notbtsbots/@aperson/introducing-not-btsbots (https://steemit.com/notbtsbots/@aperson/introducing-not-btsbots)

How is the new (public) bot (developed and paid for by BTS community) going?

We need something asap, collectively, to replace the void left here.

Urgency and need creates results, so I look at this as an opportunity.

Hi Alt,

Thank you for your response.
I have never heard anybody saying that you are bad guy rather opposite is true.
Have to admit that I don't understand problem with the price of silver but it is obviously something that is important to you.

Is there anything that could be done to fix this for you?
I have transferred  some bitusd to your baozi account just as a sign of appreciation for all that you have done for this community.

Aloha  :)

Hi Aloha,

There is no reason I should receive such a huge tip from you private.
I have kept 10$, thank you very much.

Hi Alt,

That amount was for all those years of your contribution which is not nearly enough  if you ask me but I understand your decision.
You have my respect and admiration.
