Title: Import Problem
Post by: luther-05 on May 11, 2017, 06:23:31 am
Hello

I am new to Bitshares.

I invested in Bitshares using BTC to Angelshares. I have not touched my investments until now. I am trying to claim my BTS but it would not let me. I exported my wallet from BTC to the Bitshares 0.9.3c but when i import it from the Bitshares 2.0 it would not work. I tried everything that i saw on the forum but it did not work for me.

Can you be a little more specific than "it did not work for me"? Where did you get stuck? Did you encounter any error messages?

It did not work as in no matter how much i import my keys (through back-up BIN or JSON or WIF keys) there is still 0 balance on my account. As you can see in the screenshots, even after clicking Lookup-balance, it says there is no unclaimed balance. But when importing the keys, it did say i have unclaimed balance.

Problem Solved. fluxer555 helped me. Thank you!

The solution to my problem was to Make a Bitshares 2.0 back up and dont forget to add .bin when you make a backup. And Make a wallet model account instead of account model.

I seem to have the exact problem as you. Can you explain in more detail the steps you took to solve it? I have a 4000 BTS bounty on this.

"dont forget to add .bin when you make a backup" you mean backup as bin file?

Elaborating on how you solved this problem would be a useful resource for other shareholders who return to claim their shares in the future :)

Hello,

I have the same exact problem, can you please post more details on how you solved this problem, especially on the exporting of the .bin file.

Thanks in advance.

I don't know what he meant but I would guess it goes like this:

1. Create a new account using the Wallet model (important)
2. Go to the settings and restore your old 0.9.3c json
3. In the balance claim section that appears, (or in Settings > Wallet), claim your old balances into the new account you created in step 1

Its essential to use the wallet model and to have a new bts 2 account, since AGS/PTS keys do not belong to accounts in in BTS 2 and this makes it impossible to claim your old balances.

4. Backup your wallet using the bin file, and make sure you remember your password.

Hello,

Sorry for late reply. I am not great at elaborating stuffs.

When FLuxer helped me, I learned a few things that i have not tried before.  1st, you need to make a wallet account. 2nd, make a backup after importing the keys to your wallet account (make sure to add "dot" BIN on the file name.) I will be making a video and will post it here.

If, however, you only have a wallet.dat file, you will need to
1. install BitShares 0.9.3
2. create an account in the BitShares 0.9.3 wallet
3. import the wallet.dat file into your account (Import your Bitcoin wallet.dat)
     https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7288nKEgxRJRXdNX0lmeTljQTg

4. Then Export your keys:
     Export via the console
navigate to the console: Account List -> Advanced Settings -> Console
type: wallet_export_keys [full path to the file]/[file name].json e.g. on Windows: wallet_export_keys C:\Users\[your user name]\Desktop\keys.json e.g. on Mac: wallet_export_keys /Users/[your user name]/Desktop/keys.json e.g. on Linux: wallet_export_keys /home/[your user name]/Desktop/keys.json
Please replace [your user name] with your Windows account name.
and hit Enter
     http://docs.bitshares.eu/_images/export-wallet-console.png

5. Now Proceed to Bitshares 2.0. Create a wallet account model.

6. Go to settings and Restore/Import: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7288nKEgxRJNVBhUzUyUTFETDg

7. Go to Wallet and Click Lookup Balance: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7288nKEgxRJU0ZETHZXc20xeTg

8. Create Backup (Make sure you add .BIN when saving the file): https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7288nKEgxRJTWpiOVRSb3NjeDg
     See the difference: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7288nKEgxRJMTVqd3V6NmRnREU

9.  You may need to make a new account or change your wallet profile, but the next step is to go to restore/import and import the BIN file.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B7288nKEgxRJMkd4QUNVb05IODg

10 Repeat Step 7. you should be able to see your keys. Then Claim it.

11. Donate to luther-10 if you find this helpful. If you want me to make a video, someone should lend  me their unclaim private keys and i will make it into video to help everyone.

Hope this help. Good Luck!

Hey, I'm having the same problem - could you share more details on the 'Make a wallet model account instead of account model'?

I've exported my old BTSX from 0.9.3c to JSON, then when I imported into the Bitshares 2.0 client, it all went fine (created local a/c, standard account - couldn't see an option for wallet model account? Imported the 0.9.3c .json file, private key showed up fine, imported the keys, claimed the unclaimed balances - but then no funds show up anywhere?)

Using Version 2.0.171205 (2.0.171205.540) on MAC.

Hugh thanks in advance!
