Title: Importing old wallets
Post by: needs on May 19, 2017, 10:32:02 am
Hi, I currently have two old versions of Bitshares, one on MAC and one on Windows. I believe the version is 0.4.20. I understand that I need to find my .dat files and export them. Then I need to download into 0.9.3. I then need Flat file of complete blockchain for 0.9.3 then I can export to 2.0.

I would be grateful if someone could advise me how I can find my .dat files and the then the steps I need to follow.

Many thanks

Does anyone have a copy of the blockchain file for 0.9.3 (win and mac) and know where to get the software from please?

I think the steps are;

Run 0.9.3 software for mac and win
Import your latest .dat file for each desktop version
Export backup...i think it is a .json file
Import each .json into bitshares 2.0 lite client
Wait for everything to update and check your balance
Create a backup of each (as these are two seperate wallets / private keys....i think you need to different accounts in bitshares 2.0)

1. Export json from 0.4. It is not .dat file
2. Install 0.9.3
3. Download torrent with blocks for 0.9.3 and place the whole chain directory in the 0.9.3 install folder. I don't have torrent link but you can easily find it on this forum
4. Start 0.9.3. It should take a few hours to reach 100%
5. Import json from 0.4 and you can also import private keys, bitcoin or protoshare wallet
6. Go to command line and enter: rescan. This should take around 1 hour.
7. You should now see all your balance and previous transaction. If not import more stuff and rescan
8. Export private keys with command. Something like export keys to json file
9. Install and start 2.0
10. Import json from 0.9.3 and claim balance
