Title: Smart contract - Exchange-traded fund (ETF) idea
Post by: fradent on September 01, 2017, 01:59:35 pm
Hello,
I'm pretty new to the bitshares community, and I started to use the DEX exchange few months ago. During this experience I noticed the great idea to use "traditional" pegged assets like BitGold and BitSilver, which have the clear potential to attract investor and money movements through the bitshares platform.

My idea is to implement in this platform new types of smart contracts pegged to convential ETFs (Vanguard total stock market (VTI); SPDR S&P500 (SPY); Vanguard S&P 500 (VOO).... etc) which are increasingly common in the personal porfolio of simple investor.
The great advantage wold be the possibility to invest in relatevely secure assets with steady gains that follow the real stock market trend, with no management cost and completely tax free.
This innovation could probably open new scenarios to ordinary investors and fund managers, encouraged to move money into the bitshares network. This blockchain is currenly the only one with the necessary transaction speed able to allow the correct approach to the "real money world".

Is there anyone interested in this project?

Sure, it would be great to have such assets, but to make them useful, somebody needs to provide price feeds and make the market. DEX already has a bunch of assets pegged to different stocks, but they are dead.

The great number of smart contracts with no price and consequently no volume seems the big problem of this type of assets.
How is possible to assure stable price feeds during the asset creation process?
