Title: Bitshares.org domain transfered to a for-profit company?!
Post by: R on March 11, 2018, 11:54:09 pm
https://steemit.com/bitshares/@stan/bitshares-org-gets-long-awaited-face-lift

Stan/Cryptonomex apparently just transferred ownership of bitshares.org to Apasia.tech - a for-profit entity that isn't an active witness/committee member nor a part of the Bitshares foundation.

Is anyone else concerned by this? Wouldn't it have been more appropriate for the ownership transfer to have been made to the committee, witnesses or to the bitshares foundation instead of a private for-profit company?

Take precautions - I'd consider using the light wallet over the reference org wallet until we know what's going on.

Cheers

I spoke with Apasia.tech and they are preparing an official statement for this week. They will introduce their next plans for Bitshares.org website and how Apasia would like to improve the BitShares platform in general.

@Apasia please provide a roadmap for the website. What content do you want to host there? How can the BitShares community influence the content of that page? How will Apasia manage incoming e-mails and requests over the BitShares.org website?

Stan mentioned that many BitShares requests that landed with CNX could not be answered. I think it would make more sense to forward these requests to the BBF for future distribution.

Profit motive is a key source of excellence.
We have not had excellence at bitshares.org for a long time.
It's the classic tragedy of the commons.
No one wants to spend their own money on a common asset.

Others are free to build alternative web sites about BitShares.
That is the way to decentralization.
When you say that one site is "official" you are centralizing around it.
That way leads to the dark side.

If that is your motivation, then I request you hand it over to ChainSquad GmbH

You actually were our intended choice back when we were setting up foundations together.
"Perfect in thy ways", one might even say.
But there were those other factors outlined in my Steemit post to consider as well...

So, you are telling me, by telling people

* that the (community-provided) content is outdated and under review due to regulatory changes and
* asking people to contact the spokesperson instead of Stan

you feel handled wrongly? Because those are the only things that I feel responsible for that you complain about in your steem post.

If I misunderstand, please feel free to elaborate ..
