The Norns are a set of three Algorithm Based Assets issued on the Bitshares platform. They use Bitshares as collateral, reference an oscillating quantity of Bitshares, are 120 degrees offset from one another and have an approximate amplitude of 5.303% over a 28 day period.

Update: Sorry for the inconvenience caused to price feed producers, but I've reduced the amplitude due to a previous miscalculation. It's now configured with an amplitude of 5.303030303.

Reference price feed script has been updated with additional full node urls, the price feed script was getting stuck on a server's 503 error prompt. I've also added some debugging info to the readme. The private price feed publisher list has been updated to include several more Bitshares witnesses, participation would be massively appreciated.

On another note - to any active/standby witnesses I'm still seeking additional price feed publishers for the Norns. We've been stuck at 6 for over the last month unfortunately, only 1 more to activate.

The quantity of Norn price feed publishers is dropping, I'd greatly appreciate price feed participation. There's peak value buy orders in to the tune of ~1M BTS at the moment, that would result in 2M BTS being locked up as collateral at reduced GS risk. Hoping other active witnesses take an interest soon 👍

The "permissions" of an asset define the rules for both issuer and holders. By unsetting a permission the issuer *guaranteees* the he will never enable the corresponding flag. Re-enabling the permission would break that guarantee, and would be against the interests of the holders. Therefore it is not possible to re-enable asset permissions as long as the supply is greater than 0.
This is deliberately so and is unlikely to be changed in a hardfork.

Why ?
The market fee permission was disabled for the Norns to reduce potential regulatory hurdles/issues.
Other users on the Bitshares platform are welcome to create their own alternative algorithm based assets with market fees enabled, using the existing Norn price feed scripts (MIT licensed).
The network will still earn fees from any Norn related operations on the bitshares platform.
I've not had any direct feedback from potential price feed publishers regarding fees prohibiting their price feed publishing participation, they're one of the cheapest operations on the network. I've created 6M+ price feed operations on the bitshares network so far for hertz & the norns.

Attention price feed publishers: Since the recent Bitshares blockchain halt, multiple price feed sources for the norns ceased publishing feeds due to getting stuck on a 503 error. Please reset your price feed scripts to begin feeding the Norns once again, thanks.

Norn price feed publishers have reactivated their feeds, you can borrow/settle norns as usual now.
