The long days of waiting are finally over. The BEOS Limited Cooperative Association (BLCA) announced today that it is releasing the BEOS blockchain and activating the http://beos.world (http://beos.world) website where you can get everything you need to get your free BEOS tokens.
This is not an ICO. Tokens are given away for free to people who move their BitShares (BTS) over to the BEOS network during the distribution "rainfall" period.
All 2.6 Billion of the publicly available BEOS tokens will be given away over a "rainfall" period of 89 days beginning a week from this posting on April 9th, 2019. All you have to do is move your bitshares onto the new BEOS chain and leave them sit there for up to 89 days to collect your corresponding share of the BEOS tokens proportional to the total number of BTS everybody deposits there. (If you have 1% of the total deposits, you'll get 1% of the total BEOS given away every hour of every day in the rainfall period.) RAM tokens to give access to memory resources will be given away over a much longer 80 week period.
WARNING DO NOT SEND ANY BTS TO BEOS THAT YOU WANT BACK BEFORE RAINFALL STARTS ON APRIL 9TH. YOU'LL NEED SOME OF THAT RAINFALL TO POWER THE RETURN PATH.

It will give smart contract capabilities to BitShares assets and make BitShares assets portable across the EOS domain. It is not sponsored by block.one or EOS community, but it does bring BitShares assets over to EOS, tying the work of Dan Larimer together into one greater ecosystem.

What are we trying to achieve with BEOS?
- Making BitShares assets relevant and portable across the EOS universe.
- Making BitShares assets usable in BEOS smart contracts.
- Providing the ability to limit smart contracts to execute only in specified jurisdictions (space and international waters, for example)
- Creating a platform that businesses and institutional investors can trust to remain stable under good governance (not subject to political whims).

Here's what you need to do.
BEOS Rainfall - The Video
Go to the special bitshares web wallet that can transfer BTS to BEOS: https://bitshareswallet.beos.world.
Create a new BTS account there.
Transfer some BTS to your new BTS account from wherever you've been keeping them.
Go to the Legacy Deposit page, read thru the transfer agreement (will include info about BLCA membership requirement, see below), then buy a BEOS account (500 BTS cost) and transfer remaining BTS to BEOS. You can also transfer your BROWNIE.PTS the same way and they count the same as BTS for collecting rainfall.
Download the BEOS wallet (there's a link to BEOS wallet on the deposit page). https://get.beos.world/wallets/
Get private keys from your new BitShares account and put them in your BEOS wallet to gain control of your newly purchased BEOS account.
Membership Agreement
The following rules have been implemented to maximize BLCA regulatory compliance stance in the United States and therefore globally.
To qualify for the initial BEOS token distribution, a member must (a) join BEOS LCA (BLCA is a Utah Limited Cooperative Association, operating on a non-profit basis for the benefit of its members); (b) create an account on the BEOS network (the “BEOS Account”); and (c) fund that BEOS account with any amount of BTS via the BEOS network gateway in your BitShares wallet.
Any member may create one or more BEOS accounts for a one-time fee of 500 BTS each. The BEOS network gateway will read the public keys of the Bitshares account from which the account creation fee is paid and automatically assign the same keys to the Member’s newly created BEOS account. Thus, the member can use the same private keys to control both accounts. Thereafter, the member may change their keys at any time on either account.
When a member deposits BTS via the BEOS network gateway, the member’s BEOS account is credited with an equivalent amount of a BTS IOU token. BLCA will retain 2/7 of the 3,674,470,000 authorized BEOS tokens in order to support Association purposes. The remainder will be distributed to Members.
BEOS tokens will be distributed to account holders on an hourly basis over a period of 89 days and 64GB of RAM will be distributed over an 80-week period. Both periods begin on April 9, 2019 and extend for "7 weeks and 40 days" or "40 fortnights" respectively.
During the applicable distribution periods, BEOS and RAM tokens will be apportioned between member account holders based upon their proportionate holdings of BTS IOU tokens. For example, if there are only 2 BEOS accounts at the end of an hourly reward period, one holding 90 tokens and the other holding 10 tokens, the 90 token holder will receive 90% of the BEOS awarded for that reward period and the 10 token holder will receive the remaining 10%.
BEOS tokens are backed by BLCA Quint holdings, such that 1 million BEOS tokens equals 1 Quint. This sets a floor on BEOS value, and ties it to Specie Legal Tender, without limiting potential demand for the token due to its limited supply and its inherent utility.
IMPORTANT NOTE : Until a withdrawal is made, the “actual BTS” deposited to the BEOS network gateway will be held in an account called “beos.gateway” on the Bitshares network. This account is managed by the Board. By making deposits to this account, a Member explicitly grants the Board the right to vote the BTS so deposited in ways that support the health and growth of the BEOS network.
Members have the option of withdrawing their BTS IOU tokens via the BEOS network gateway at any time (*) back to their own control.
*The BLCA directors will do their best to keep the gateway operational at all times, but a malfunction either on the gateway or the new BEOS chain itself could result in BTS funds being locked up temporarily until the problem is resolved. If you lose the keys to your BEOS account, the trustees cannot refund BTS locked up as BTS IOU tokens in your BEOS account, because the trustees cannot reclaim the IOU tokens and have no way to determine if the account is permanently lost.
You MUST read the full BLCA member agreement located at http://www.beos.world/membership_agreement.html and click "I agree" before proceeding.
Limitations and Disclaimers
All of the past posts about BEOS should be considered as statements of vision, not promises of anything. Many of these visions have not yet been realized in the first release and some may never be.
Tokens distributed in the rainfall will not become transferrable until the rainfall ends in 89 days. This will limit the usefulness of the network for the rainfall period.
BLCA will be providing an initial set of block signing nodes during the rainfall period which will be publicly elected beginning one week after rainfall starts.
BLCA has not yet implemented jurisdictional agility features or placed nodes in international waters or international space.
To date, BLCA has only made BTS and BROWNIE.PTS portable between the BitShares network and the BEOS network. BEOS and RAM will become portable at the end of the rainfall period. More tokens, such as bitUSD or Quint, will be added in due course.

Testing BEOS staking, able to get account and move BTS to EOS, get rainfall tokens, now want to try to move BTS back - to ensure all the functionality is in place - and find no way how to withdraw BTS at stake back to my normal BTS wallet.
I see no withdrawal option on BEOS gateway page in beos webwallet either.
Any comments/explanations?

I don't think BEOS is selling coins. It is giving them away to participating bitshares holders. And the website beos.world specifically says that it is NOT an ico.

BEOS has a lot of interesting things to offer. Bridging both the Bitshares and EOS ecosystems. Jurisdictional agility of smart contracts is also something very unique and interesting to see adoption of. Not to mention the reputable team behind BEOS which is great. Something people should not miss out on. I've been getting drenched in the rain since day one and I'm enjoying every moment :D

From the last week I have singed up in BEOS.
I successfully staked some bitshares and I'm receiving the BEOS rainfall. After that I sent more bts for stake on BEOS gateway and now I'm receiving more BEOS rainfall.

Just want to give a shout out to the BEOS team and Telegram chat group. I got my BTS staked! While the walk-thru video was really helpful I am complete Noob in this realm and the hang-ups I encountered would have made me quit. But, the help of the community it was really pretty simple and straightforward to get my tokens staked. I am happily receiving rainfall 🌧 And, am looking forward to seeing where this goes in the future. Big thank-you, kudos to the creators and administrators and everyone involved in this project. Let's hope this leads to a better tomorrow for humanity. Long ago in 2013 or something I wanted to get involved in Bitcoin but had no idea how to. So, I missed that boat for the most part. While my stake here is not huge. I am just happy to have gotten onboard this time!! :D

You guys decreased the amount of active witnesses from 23 to 19 .Its a big harm to the bitshares network as it took ages to get us good witnesses.
I would like to ask to add some more witness votes to get us back more active witnesses so they won't leave us.

I would like to ask to add some more witness votes to get us back more active witnesses so they won't leave us.
Who are you recommending? Do they support our efforts to bring a new path of success to bitshares? We have especially been looking for support in our efforts to stop censorship of the BEOS project in the Bitshares Dex Telegram channel.

You guys decreased the amount of active witnesses from 23 to 19 .Its a big harm to the bitshares network as it took ages to get us good witnesses.
I would like to ask to add some more witness votes to get us back more active witnesses so they won't leave us.
Who are you recommending? Do they support our efforts to bring a new path of success to bitshares? We have especially been looking for support in our efforts to stop censorship of the BEOS project in the Bitshares Dex Telegram channel.

Is there any way to add funds to an existent BEOS account or it's necessary to buy another one?
You can add to or remove BTS that you have staked, to participte in the rainfall, at any time. However BEOS tokens cannot be used in transactions until the rainfall period is over. It is a goal of BEOS integration with bitshares that the capability to send other tokens on the bitshares platform to your BEOS account, and back, will be added over time.

No, we have no problem with people who have alternative points of view. We do have a problem with witnesses that do not openly oppose those trying to censor our point of view - even if those witnesses do not themselves share it. Because censorship of alternative points of view and spreading FUD is wrong in our opinion. And yes, we would like to get a few witnesses voted in that do share the point of view of our constituency that BEOS integration is going to be very good for bitshares.

Do it the same way you created the account, just don't set the create new account switch and it will send from your bitshares wallet legacy withdraw function.

I believe that BEOS is working towards that goal!
So we can say that while the general concern, especially in early days, for cryptocurrencies were that the governments may try to shut them down or to banish them in the case of Beos nobody should be able to restrict it in any way as it's operating outside of any country. If so we are seeing the practical implementation of a totally new concept. Given the background of the dull multitude of the clone-coins out there BEOS is probably to be considered a new break-through for the cryptoworld.

Right now Beos Tracker reports the old tracking, but the blockchain is not advancing (https://explore.beos.world/blocks).
I was also able to access my Beos wallet.
From here (https://bitshareswallet.beos.world/account/beos.gateway) it seems like someone was able to withdraw BTS even after the blockchain got stuck.

Any situation update? As of Monday June 24, around 10a Pacific Time, I have not received any BEOS nor RAM rainfall in the last 24+ hours since Sunday. And my amount over the prior 24 hours before that, on a spot check on Sunday was way down, so it appears to have stopped crediting some time on Saturday June 22, as noted above.
There is supposed to be another about 14 days of Beos Rainfall, plus the RAM continuing another year+.
The block explorer at https://explore.beos.world/blocks currently shows
14363077 Jun 24, 2019, 10:11:40.000 AM beos.prodo 0
which is current time, so it seems blocks are produced, but there's no rainfall credits ?
No change or activity to wallet or network on my end, so far as I know. My network is up. I restarted the BEOS wallet just to be sure, and it's still frozen at the same BEOS/RAM amount, for 1.5 days now.

So there was a gap of about 2.5 days. Out of the 89 day distribution, that is about 2.8% of the Beos total rainfall missing. What has happened to those coins? Are they burned/disappeared/lost, and thus subtracted from the total distribution?
Or will they be backcredited somehow, included in the remaining days, or the rainfall period extended?
Has the cause/situation for the lapse been identified?
Incidentally, there was a major systemwide "general internet outage" across many sites, reported as of Monday morning. It seems plausible it may have started earlier on the weekend, and was perhaps a factor in this Beos disruption (?)

After a few months, I see no activity on the BEOS blockchain.
In the meanwhile, BItshares itself is thriving, even if it's value has dropped considerably.
Do I get something wrong, or has BEOS just not taken off yet?
Perhaps the airdrop should be repeated in a new way, or make a snapshot of all BTS balances, and combine with existing balances, so all those who missed out can get another chance for a real BitShares 3.0
