Title: PTS Wallet Problem

I've never mined anything before, but followed the directions on PTS website for mining. When I downloaded the wallet it showed up, but says "not synced" with no other options. What does that mean or what do I need to do?

It means your wallet is not connected to any node, you need to sync your wallet and download all the blocks before you can do anything. Did you download the latest wallet(0.4.0)? If so ,please refer to this link to add nodes

I want to say it was (0.2.0), but I'll have to check it in the morning. I appreciate it!

If you are using Window OS, go download the latest version(0.4.0) wallet from http://protoshares.net/#download , it has built-in nodes.
If you are using Mac, you can only add as many nodes as possible.
