"The popular cryptocurrency trading site Cryptsy.com has been having some noticeable issues these past few hours. Users of Cryptsy have been reporting negative balances, frozen transfers, suspended withdrawals. Speculation is that a recent update is causing the issues. Cryptsy is aware of the issues, but no official statement has been released yet."

+5% thanks for the heads up... I was on moments ago and my NXT deposit is taking longer than usual to hit the radar.

I saw this earlier today and sent all the PTS I had in there back to my wallet.  Not worth the risk!  Didn't have any issues getting out though like others are reporting.

After they sold the 20.000 MN1 (mining contract 1) with one share (1gh/s) at 0.0185 BTC before a few days...
It came to my mind that they will dissapear as well (like MtGox)... Hope I am wrong.

PS I have tried several times to withdraw BTC and PTS today and always "A security error has occurred" message appears (will update if something change)

Here's the cryptsy review page on Coinjabber (like the "yellow pages" of bitcoin business): http://www.coinjabber.com/site/www.cryptsy.com (http://www.coinjabber.com/site/www.cryptsy.com)

69% - below an average rating.  I'm actually surprised there aren't more reviews; All the negative reviews have occurred in this calendar year though.

I was able to withdraw 45 btc that wasn't mine to my wallet.
I held it there until I felt bad and sent it back and I have screenshots of everything that happened.

I was given a reward for returning 24,000.00 usd worth of btc...

25 cryptsy points which equals about 9.00 USD.

I feel insulted after reading about coinbase rewarding someone who returned 24btc to them that wasn't the users and being rewarded 10 btc.

I bet they have lost a ton of funds assuming that a percentage of users actualy "stole" that funds withdrawing them to personal wallets...
So it is likely to have a like-Gox situation in the near future... so keep coins there only for a few hours to exchange and don't store them there!

PS1 I have withdraw all BTC and PTS sucessfully by the way.
PS2 Imagine when they mess up so easy the whole system, how easy it may be for good hackers or insiders to steal them ! Watch Out !

Gosh if only someone would invent a decentralized crypto exchange that runs on open source & transparent code, and is not vulnerable to the greed & mistakes of human operators. Oh wait...

Yeah... if only I could write bug free code so I could sleep sound at night :)    You solve some trust issues but at the end of the day, code is still code and can have bugs :(

You can do it Bytemaster! Just squash each bug one by one and you'll make it ;)

Yes there might still be some bugs after release, but lets think about what that means: when centralized exchanges have bugs they get hacked and thousands of coins get stolen never to be returned, as we have seen time and again. In contrast when there is a bug in blockchain validation code, the client software just gets patched and the community just goes back a few blocks. i.e. its less of a big deal, as we saw with the bitcoin blockchain fork last year. Websites just suspend services until the fork is resolved.

Putting the exchange itself into the blockchain changes everything 8)
