Title: Bitshares Bazaar (decentralized market)
Post by: bitcoinerS on June 21, 2014, 03:38:33 pm
Coindesk has an article on a decentralized, ebay-like market that utilizes bitcoin tech.

Seems Bitshares platform is a natural fit for a decentralized, ebay-like service.

This is like the holy grail of success. The problem is that you have to get enough people there to created a market for people to sell to. So it really comes down to marketing and would require something exceedingly exceptional in addition to a solid technical implementation.

This needs to be done. It seems such a natural fit for DPoS.

Not only DPOS, but the coming web-of-trust and account rep features are a natural fit for this purpose.

Open Bazaar has a fair bit of documentation on the mechanics of burn-for-reputation.

Bitshares/Open Bazaar devs should really be having a conversation; OB appears to be an excellent DAC/DPOS/TITAN candidate.

This is the perfect kind of marketplace to work with butt we need to engage them in talks now.
The only thing we are missing is some kind of payment or clearing house. Vendors will need to cash out we have to come up with one, if not more then one way(with depth) to do this.

I want to point out that something like this can only exist once BitUSD becomes widely used. Like it or not, for now bitcoin is good enough.

Their are only 2 things holding us back from being able to be used in this fashion.
1. market depth for bitUSd must be increased.
2. a way to cash out of bitUSD

Btc is only working because it has a much more depth, If you talk to sellers or businesses almost all of them want protection from btc's volatility. 10$+ swings in 24hours is not good for a market place. It quickly turns a profit to a loss or a break even or a huge profit which creates buyers remorse.

If we provide depth they will come.....
