Title: An Error Occurred While Trying To Start
Post by: bitAndy on August 16, 2014, 07:30:42 pm
I was using BitsharesX, when it crashed & caused my computer to restart. When I tried to get it back up, a pop up appeared saying ''an error occurred while trying to start.''

I downloaded the 0.3.0 version, but I didn't uninstall the previous version just in case it was needed?
Once I can get it up and running do I have to create a new account then import my old one?

If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it.

I just got the same thing. Not sure why or how to fix.

You don't need to create new account, just importing the old private keys is fine. The crashing problem could be a bug, but it rarely happens, try to kill all the related process then restart the software

I've been getting this error message every time I try to open the wallet. Tried to re-install with last two versions, but same problem. Using Windows 8.1.

Make sure you are using the 32 bit version, 64 bit version has issues.

I heard the version on bitshares-x.info was not updated
the x64 version from
https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases
might work better!

else stick with 32bit

Thanks for your response. Unfortunately, the 32-bit is what I've been trying. Not having much luck these last two versions.

have you tried to move your bitsharex files in %APPDATA% and start over from square one?
if the wallet opens up and starts syncing you can close it again .. move/copy the old "wallet" folder back and restart the wallet ...

maybe that helps

I got it working again. Got rid of EVERYTHING and re-installed, then copied over the files. This Windows 8 is a little too visual for me, but I'm learning. Thanks to bytemaster and xeroc for your tips.

I got that error with the latest .27.1 version (for linux). Any ideas how to resolve it?
I had the client going. It froze at some point. After I shut it down I got that error msg when trying to restart.

Usually it's happened when path contains local characters (in your case it's can be German characters), I already report this issue twice to github:

I was having the same issue with v0.4.27.1 over clean LUbuntu 14.04.1. I just added some nodes and changed node parameters as indicated in the wiki[1] and got this error. I deleted de config.json file and the client started normally again.

The error is happening when I use this command and the client is still not connecting. This was not happening with the same version over Windows 7.

network_set_advanced_node_parameters {"desired_number_of_connections":50, "maximum_number_of_connections":100}
