So, I installed 0.4.4 and wiped everything but the wallet folder. Sync is taking f-o-r-e-v-e-r. I increased the preferred peer by doing this:
network_set_advanced_node_parameters {"desired_number_of_connections": 32}
Any other advice on how to increase sync speed?
Also should older version clients worry about forks?
-
there is also a max_connection setting .. check out
network_get_advanced_node_parameters
-
max connection is 200.
I have serious doubts BitShares will scale very well as it is right now. Hopefully that gets addressed before too long. Should be highest priority after market functionality.
-
same problem here. pretty sure the bitshares crew is on it. let's wait.
-
BM is already working to enhance syncing afaik
edit: take a look at how long it takes to sync to Monero

bump. using version 0.4.5.
syncing gets stuck every time. already did a full re-install and imported mywallet.json.
haven't fixed the issue since last night. and the wallet keeps crashing.
any other ideas how to get this fixed??

Lucky,
I had to uninstall the previous version and delete THE WHOLE BITSHARES X folder in APPDATA/ROAMING.
Then install 0.4.5 and accept agreement, then File, import wallet.
The blockchain started at zero, but I didnt have any issues, it synced in about an hour.

it's what i did. still get the same issue. and it crashes, so i sent a couple of crash reports.

I was having crash reports happen as well, until I completely deleted the BitShares X folder in %appdata%
Are you competely removing that folder? And uninstalling the previous version?
That's the only way I could get mine to work.

yes. i did exactly what you did.
ok i will do it again, one last time.

last night, with 0.4.4, I outright could not get it to sync. it stalled somewhere with 15 days worth of blocks left to download
tonight, after deleting blockchain, ive been syncing for the past few hours, and still have about 15 days worth of blocks left to download.
