No, just a "fan boy." hahaha ;D

What are the reasons someone would buy/short BitBTC as opposed to buying/shorting the real thing?

Because could do so without going through a trusted third party (an exchange), where you are instead exchanging btsxIOUs for xbtIOUs, and your funds could theoretically be seized, stolen, or held until you comply with some sort of kyc (know your customer) procedure.
It is safer than trading on an exchange if you are trading just for the sake of trading. If you are trading to spend them then that is another story, but I have a feeling the bitasset infrastructure will fall into place to allow people to do that.

This is the primary reason I'll be using it. If we learned anything from Mt. Gox. Now exchanges seem to be a lot more transparent however they are still easy targets for regulators regardless of their good intentions. With BitSharesX all your money stays either in your wallet or on the blockchain when being stored as collateral. You don't have to trust a third party to keep your money safe until you withdraw.
This isn't to paint the exchanges with a bad brush but they are a big target for a hacker; much more so than an individual wallet with trades protected by TITAN so only the person looking at the screen has any idea how much money is in it.

BTW, bitBTC is trading with much less discount than bitUSD. At least so far.

There's only one order in the "order history" section... So nothing is really happening?
-
I personally have 7+ filled orders...
I guess the GUI is more intelligent now, displaying only recent orders.

Can you give us a screenshot without (WITHOUT) your username and BTSX amount?

Hope this helps!

How do you mean?
@ Riverhead
If you have not used the GUI: 'Margin' orders are generally your open short positions.(showing call prices)
So, this screen generally show that the account(me) is about 8.5 bitBTC short.

Thank you Mr. TheOnion. What page are you specifically on?
The right side below "Open Orders" above "Bid 16,150, 0.0010000 16.149999" needs titles above them.

You are a true genius... the GUI needs work...
[edit] they have titles... the file conversion must have eaten them...
Now, let's get back to digging (mining) my funds out of the blockchain... :)

Are there any tools available to see history of price and volume as it progresses?

Hope this helps!

Who cares if the GUI needs work. It will be done by the developers.
Sure. What do you means about the blockchain?

eagleeye, you obviously like writing/posting. If so, you can mine some coins doing just that. Here are some links:

What do you mean mine? I have the capability to register servers though I do not have the technical background to mine coins.

@TheOnion
I don't think it's a good idea to short BTC right now. There will be a rally to test 500 resistance in the coming days.
