Title: What is the short wall?
Post by: monsterer on October 11, 2014, 11:40:09 pm
I can't find a reference to what the short wall is?

There is a massive buy order called the short wall right now in BTSX/USD market at the top of the book.

AFAIK, the shortwall is just the collection of all shorts in the order book because all shorts have the same price (the price feed)
and only differ in the collateral ratio (for now, please be reminded that the next hardfork will change this feature towards interests pay by shorts to the longs: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=9587.0)

edit: be reminded that the current engine is slightly different and will hardfork to the rules above soonish (tm)
the difference now is that shorts are prioritized by collateral .. as of later they will be by interest rate payed

Thanks - although I was more after the part which explained exactly what the pricing rule was for shorts and how that worked against the market feed average.

I understand this is all subject to change - just would be nice to have an official explanation of the 'now'. :)
