General Discussion / About Renaming UIAs
« on: November 12, 2015, 01:18:23 pm »
I am trying to rename my UIA from "Update Asset" button. When I overwrite the quote asset name, the message "The Asset XXX does not exist" show up so I hit on the update asset button on the top, and the transaction went through. However, nothing happens even after waiting for some time.

Can you advise how to rename my UIAs?

If I buy my lifetime membership at "DACPLAY", am I still able to use that lifetime member username to refer new users via "openledger"?

As far as I know it should. The lifetime membership and the account is registered on the blockchain. When you refer someone your lifetime account will be listed as the lifetime referrer for that account and that information will be stored at the blockchain level.

this. your status will change anyways on the blockchain with the uprgade.

edit: check fav membership status to see how a lifetime member looks like on chain

I have upgraded to lifetime member on DACPLAY, then referred one account via DACPLAY and one account via OpenLedger. In membership page, I see that I can get 40% for DACPLAY and 60% for OpenLedger. So, this shows that I can get more referral fees if I refer someone via OpenLedger. Anyways, the test result shows that I can refer people to register on OpenLedger even if I have upgraded to lifetime member on DACPLAY.

One problem I am facing now is that there is no way for me to track the referral status properly. The referral status only shows on the DACPLAY membership page, but it only tracks the DACPLAY referral. If I import the wallet that contains the lifetime member account on OpenLedger, the referral status link is not showing on the membership page. Is there a proper/easy way to track the number of people I have referred successfully?

It has to be reversible.

I'm not technical so I can only come up with ideas, but can't the blockchain hold onto the private key of the BTC address where nobody else can see, and use it to unlock it whenever the trader tries to redeem his/her real BTC?

I was imagining  a cloakroom type of mechanism, where you hand over the receipt when you go home, and you get your coat back on the way out.

Isn't it possible for the BitShares blockchain to issue an IOU, called something like BLOCKCHAINBTC, that is 100% collateralized by real BTC?

If the blockchain can issue such IOU and lock up the real BTC, then we don't have to worry about Blocktrades.us or Openledger getting Goxed as a Gateway.

Traders can then freely enter and exit the BitShares system without worrying about counterparty risk because the blockchain will not run away with funds like humans do.

Currently, I am having a hard time imagining the BitBTC:BTS market growing efficiently because the only way the supply of BitBTC can grow is when somebody shorts BitBTC. But look. Who will be the first one to short BitBTC in such an illiquid market? It's too risky compared to its reward. There are people who want to buy BitBTC, but there is not enough people that is willing to short BitBTC and match that demand. Hence, the supply of BitBTC will not grow, and trading can't take place.

If blockchain can issue a collateralized IOU, then we don't have to wait for the BitAsset shorters to enter the game. We can quickly build up on the orderbook using the affiliate program.

Let me hear what you think.

I tried this, and it started to work again. Thank you, Jaran. Hmm... what was that all about??

What about the System clock? I am on a Mac, and it is configured to set date and time automatically.

I have two wallets, one account in each wallet. (I did this because I could not create multiple accounts in one wallet)

I was able to place orders and transfer balance on one of the accounts, but not in the other.
I have checked and found out that the account that is not working shows an active key that was greyed out, as you mentioned.
So looks like I am getting the same symptom as jaran.

The active key and owner key is different though. Is it correct to place owner key as active key? And...why did this happen on one of my accounts?

There's no error message in red.

Whenever I try to place an order to an exchange, or transfer my fund from one wallet to another, I get the error message, "Failed to broadcast transaction."

I tried from both Openledger and Light wallet, but same thing. It used to work a few days ago.

What is going on right now?

117
Thank you. I confirmed that it is fixed on the newer version of the light wallet.

118
Ok, I'll give it a try.

Attaching screenshots below. Both are BTS/USD.

It's not consistent with poloniex.

If you go to Poloniex, orderbook for BTS/BTC is priced in terms of BTC, and you are buying and selling BTS using the BTC price. In BitShares decentralized exchange (it's only broken on light client), somehow the orderbook for BTS/BTC is priced in terms of BTS, and the buy/sell label says that you are trying to buy and sell BTC.

Same thing for BTS/USD. It's broken on the light client.
