General Discussion / Finally a FIAT : BTS market with liquidity !
« on: July 14, 2016, 05:33:33 pm »
The BitCNY : BTS market is doing very well !

I have been waiting for a while to start trading in the DEX BTS Vs a fiat currency, to do some day trading (noob style). Until now, the liquidity wasn't that good BUT it has changed !! Now, it's really possible to do that on the CNY market ! That's amazing !

Now it's possible to day trade without being worry if there will be a way to sell or buy and the right time.
I'm not a pro trader (very far from it actually) and there is obviously still a lot of improvements to be made in the DEX and at the liquidity level but this is a very nice improvement !

It may looks like just an increase in liquidity in one of our market but I see it as an amazing step ! Liquidity will bring more liquidity, then the other markets (USD, EUR, ..) will catch on !

Just wanted to share my excitement and let the readers of this forum that it’s now possible to easily trade BTS : stable fiat money in a decentralised way !!!

BTS : CNY

General Discussion / Re: Is Bitshares still growing?
« on: July 14, 2016, 03:33:55 pm »
This is exactly why we need to push the worker from Chris (bts munich) to create a new and much better website.

There is few investors that actually study in depth all the projects they invested in. They can't do it, there is no enough time in a day to follow 5, 10 or 20 crypto projects.

That's why the web site should project a dynamic image of BitShares with a lot of things happenning, news, projects, ... With use cases for traders, regular users, entrepreneurs, other crypto communities, ...

The OP is no a exception, guys like him represent a big % of the money in the crypto world. We don't have any of this money in our MC because the web site is oriented for BC tech savy and even them have sometimes difficulties to grasp what is all about. That when they are not disapointed because part of the features are not available at the moment (privacy, bond market, ...)

As Steem will be full of regular non-crypto persons about to discover it, think about it, research it, ... I think the best way to promote BitShares is by posting and commenting everywhere on Steem where it makes sense a few lines on BitShares. Just like Stan did in the one above or I did in this one :

I'm very please you could find the time to go forward with this Chris :)

I think it's much more important for our image, reputation and MC that some ppl realize.

This "dilution" (ridicously low), IMO, has a huge ROI ! A better website is crucial to attract new people curious about cyptocurrencies and entrepreneurs.  Right now, the website only give information for ppl that already have a deep understanding of BC tech.

Come on everyone, let's vote this. It doesn't cost much and will certainly have a very positif effect on all the new visitors we'll have in the future !
Right now, if I was checking some cryptocurrencies projects to create my portfolio and look at bts.org. I would have the feeling that it's an overly complicated project that seems dead ... no investment.

Woooow is that your coment or mine that just rocked the Brownies market ? ;p ;p ;p

cryptoprometheus knows something ...

If I remember it correctly, a couple of month ago BM said that he didn't forget the people helping him and someday he would buy back the brownies he gave to express his gratitude to the persons who beleive in his view and support it without asking for anything in return.

He never made any guarantees and I'm sure he's stated that there is no obligation on his part with Brownies. I think he insinuated that if circumstances are ever suitably aligned that he could do something like this ^^

@bytemaster - If you ever do this how/where would you announce it?

BUT

The idea needn't be to give away loads of value 'for free'! Bytemaster could offer discounts/bonuses to Brownie holders on goods/tokens/services (probably, but not necessarily in exchange for the Brownies). The idea is to entice Brownie holders to contribute something further to any given project (even if it's just user adoption), but to be allowed to gain something more cheaply than non Brownie holders. There is a lot of potential here for the arrangement to be mutually beneficial, although there's always scope in this space for it to piss people off on both sides of the fence...

Failing that, bytemaster could sell signed photos in exchange for Brownies! HAHAHHAHAHAHA!!!

Lol !

As I see it, he is a great mind with good intention to make this world a better place. There is not a lot like these !

I wouldn't sell his very own reward token even if he would stop speaking about it for years.

I completely understand the fact that he is not that much present in this community these days. All the critics he had to read, days after days, months after month have been probably hard to bear. It must be so refreshing to  work on Steem now.

...

2. Scalability. Visa today handles about 2000 transactions every second. Blockchain for bitcoin is currently limited to four to seven transactions per second because the protocols in bitcoin limit the size of transactions blocks to 1mb. Obviously, a major limitation, although some of those organizations mentioned above are working on solutions to scale blockchain. Bitshare, for example, claims to be able to process 100,000 TPS.

...

The autor wrote BitShares very poorly ...

144
The first comment that comes in my mind is that I don't think banks will ever join BitShares or any other non private Blockchain.

They want solid and permanent rules, they don't want them changed after a vote from a community. When the time will come for banks to use Blockchain technology, they will probably use private Blockchain. Maybe with decentralisation but cover by their offices.

It's just my opinion but if the title of the article is not realistic (says the guy who wrote : "Why BitShares is not already worth 1 billion dollar ?" ^^) the logic will be hard to articulate.

If I were a whale, a big one, I would be making some math ritht now to have an approximation on the feasibility of this hypothesis.

I'm far from a whale but we know where we can find some. There is  investment forums, website, ... These Whale are just looking how to grow a portion of their capital.

Wouldn't it be a smart move to wright a piece of article on that idea and publish everywhere where ppl have deep pockets ?

They could contact Stan to get in more details if needed.

I'm a poker player, all my decisions are purely statistics.
Let's suppose that writing and  publishing this paper has a 1% chance to find a whale who is willing to try this and the MC reach 1/2M with the added value, smartcoins liquidity increase, awarness, communication and some hype.
We would have 1% chance to increase 500x our current investment in BitShares. So in the long run, on average,  (repeting this process forever, not feasable obviously) that paper would increase our MC by 5 times.
Let's consider that 20 hours are needed to write it and publish it everywhere we can (with the community help).
Well, anyone with at least 100$ in BTS in its account would gain 400$, so 20$/hour by writing and publishing it. Not bad but maybe not enough to ignite the  fire of your motivation ...
Maybe 50$/h if you have 250$ in bts, or 200$/h if you have 1k$ in bts ... or 1000$/h for the baby whales ?

I've been following NEM. Not as much as BitShares but it seems that they have indeed some cool features and a decent plateform.

How much would a benevolent whale need to invest to make this happen? Does anyone have an idea?
With the current low volume, it wouldn't need a lot to move the price up and maintain it.

General Discussion / Re: Security of crypto funds.
« on: June 18, 2016, 09:44:48 am »
I think it would be of enormous value to have a security tutorial for BitShares. How to make a cold storage, how to protect funds through a multi-sig. What is the best multi-sig structure etc. Would be cool to see similar hardware as ledger for BitShares too.

I wonder how we get people excited to work on all that for no upfront payments :/
Indeed it would be great ;)

Muse/SoundDAC / Re: Half of my NOTE missing when importing in MUSE
« on: June 17, 2016, 06:45:44 pm »
The BTS wallet has a bloom filter to make importing funds easier .. not sure if it is compatible with MUSE and it certainly is not yet installed.
It may be that the only way to get all your funds (CURRENTLY) is to go through the cli wallet:
 http://docs.bitshares.eu/muse/migration/howto-importing-wallet.html#using-the-console-client-advanced-users
So I have to use the CLI wallet. I couldn't find a CLI wallet on github /peertrack / muse.

I guess using the BTS one should work ... ?

I guess I have to use this argument in the CLI : cli_wallet -s ws://52.6.149/ws

Is it good ? My light client doesn't connect anymore. Just showing ws://52.... disconnected.

Something else I have to do diferently that when I connect to BitShares ? Maybe with the witness_node ?
