General Discussion / Re: 224,201 BROWNIE.PTS up for donations
« on: April 08, 2016, 10:06:38 am »
One suggestion :

Divide them between several big and small bounties. And keep them so we can use them when needed.
For example, a bounty of X brownies for the best GUI CSS tweaking, best poster o banner Bitshares promoting the Dex or the BitAssets, for the member who gets us on Amazon and Google just like Fox did on Azure, ect...

You are right, but BTWTY have the purpose of being, as the first index I'll create, a very stable a robust one. Volume could be faked by an exchange to manipulated which coin comes in or out in the index just before the revision. That's why I'll only consider MC for this one. The revision is made once a month at the moment. So this kind of coin jumping up and down is very unlikely to end up in the index. We are actually defining a set of rules in the scripts to be sure no exotic moves of shit coins can affect the index.

All the explanations will be availbable on the web site. I entend on making it public as soon as I can send the price feed on the BTWTY test smartcoin on the testnet.

It shouldn't be long now, I'm almost there. Xeroc and hcf27 are also helping.

You are brilliant Ronny ! Bringing value to Bitshares, to your business, to the Obits holders and helping people where they need the most ... chapeau bas !

PD : did you see the nice pump Obits did on CMC after the news ?

PPD : this thread deserve a "[ANN]" in his title to be seen !!

General Discussion / Re: Graphene GUI testing and feedback

I have a suggestion.

At the moment, there is a lot of pairs that are display weirdly when you look at the market depth. Mainely because the lack of liquidity.

At Bittrex, they solved this problem having in their charts options a % of price range available to choose when looking at the market depth.

You have 25% by default but can select 50%, 75% and all. That's very useful when you want to see how buy and sell orders are spread on the whole market, where the big supports or resistances, ect ...

As we still have some space in the GUI there, we could have this option.

I strongly beleive that we should gather in the DEX GUI every single advantage (even tiny ones) that other exchanges have ;)

Just my 2 bts ;p

Is there a way to use somehow the bloom filter from BTS and then import in MUSE ?
No way .. there needs to be a new bloom filter created specifically for MUSE holders from various snapshots and investment types
You can do it in a terminal as well, I posted a guide for that before the filter was added to the GUI.

The guide was for BTS it can easily be used for MUSE.
Thanks SVK, I remember this. I'll give it a try ! Maybe I'll have a couple of questions for you if I get stuck.

Thanks !!!

It seems that the "VISIT WEBSITE" link in th e deposit tab of metaexchange and blocktrades is the same. Both lead to blocktrades.

Another thing I notice, I explained it in the telegram chat but it's probably better in here :

When you got to the page to create a asset and click on create an asset, you are stuck on this asset creation page, you can't go back anywhere. If you create or not the asset doesn't change the fact that any button of the client is responding except for the ones to do the asset. So you can't go back to overview or trade or other tabs.

That would be awesome !

do we need a token for this, or is is enough to send a transaction with a memofield?

in general i think it is a better idea, to get people to vote. I would only send the reminder to active accounts, makes no sense to
waste effort to people who are not even aware of it.

i would suggest, we could create a thread who everything is explained

1. how they vote
2. we is it important to express what they want

we could incloud in the memofield this thread link and if anyone has questions we could answer them in this place.
Yep, also a good idea !!!!

I've just created the thread and throw my idea to brainstorm.

I'm sure we can do something easy to improve this situation !

This is a weakness in the system that we really should fix. Here is my proposal how to do it: Non-transferable BTS & BitBTS – We need to make Bitshares more resilient.

what does "nontransferable" BTS solve?

It forces exchanges and their customers to use BitBTS instead of BTS. It will also help with voter apathy, because more voting power will go to hands of those who are interested in voting. Those who just want to speculate on BTS price are able to do it with BitBTS.

i assume we can trade them? as poloniex i just need then to trade BTS against POLO.BTS and they have them again on their accounts. For me this
is not the right direction. we are here to get more "financial freedom" but want to restrict it in parts who are not welcomed. We need other solutions.

But why would Poloniex do that? It just makes everything more complicated than it needs to be. From their point of view, it's just much easier to convert everything to BitBTS and use that. Customers can move BitBTS into and out from Poloniex, so they will prefer it to BTS that can't be moved.

When this was discussed a while back, biggest reason for rejection of idea was that it was too difficult to implement. With my proposal it should be possible, because it's broken into several steps that are feasible and practical.

It's a great idea for starting a new network.. but for the existing one.. attempting to make the migration will be just as painful as attempting to get everyone to vote.. so in the end.. we will benefit more if people started voting vs. changing/confusing our core asset model.

If it is good for a new chain, it is also good for an old chain. We should be thinking how to be the best chain in the market, not just apathetically accept that we are in a situation where we can't change anything anymore.

I agree that we shouldn't be planning new features anymore, but this is not a feature for our customers. It's a security feature. It's essential. We have to show to the world that we are capable to fight against threats like badly voting exchanges. The threat isn't only that good workers are downvoted, but this kind of attack can be also committee attack, where somebody changes blockchain parameters in a harmful way. By making BTS nontransferable we effectively disable all possibilities to these kind of attacks.

we could make a list of the biggest account not voting and send to them a lot of 1 UIA transaction with a memo to recall them to vote so we get their attention.

The UIA could be named "voting", I create it, distribute it and every time someone sees a not-voting-account we send to him/her some "voting" UIA.

The memo could be a reminder of the importance of voting and a link to a youtube video explaining how important is to keep bts in the wallet and how to easily vote for proxies.

Good, bad, stupid, interesting idea ?

Not bad, but not necessarily very effective. Our system has a weakness: it doesn't incentivize good voting behavior. We should be thinking how we can change the system to work better, not only think how to act in a bad system so that it wouldn't be so bad. In the long run bad system will always give bad results, even when it's run by good people.
I've just create a thread an explain the idea better :

I hope I'm not the only one ... it would take forever !

Do you know the best person I need to speak about that problem ?

I tried to import my muse from the 0.9.3c old wallet of BTS. I only have about the half of it showing in the muse wallet importation screen.
I was one of the few who had a LOT of keys and had to wait for the release of a patch in BTS to be able to import correctly.
Do this hardfork solve this problem ?

I'm not sure which problem you're talking about.
IIRC the problem of large import wallets was solved by a filter in the GUI. This release does not touch the GUI wallet.
I don't think the MUSE wallet has a bloom filter installed .. the wallet is really really old
Is there a way to use somehow the bloom filter from BTS and then import in MUSE ?

Well, I'm not completely sure it's a good idea ...

Here are the top 80 richest bts shareholders not voting.

mcxcwbts 11,107,976
goldsix 6,050,401
ubris 6,000,000
miso69 4,833,076
lambda1 4,063,036
deepweb 2,974,341
jaehyuk 3,876,514
andrewmiao 3,786,080
tomliu 3,719,558
go-danny-go 3,533,157
mike-primorac 3,479,329
bts-ats8088 3,778,135
freggieleggie 1 3,401,362
brentallsop 3,247,576
zy360 2,891,468
bts-fruitsalad 2,804,446
operations.hyperetas 2,626,603
rand1 2,586,347
thread 2,553,716
hardfork 2 2,545,413

Which is 76,201,801 BTS not voting.

I could have done this list much bigger and have much more not-voting-power.
I just want first to have feedbacks on that first.

My idea is to create an UIA named "voting", "shame", "participation", ... something like that.
Share this token to anyone who is willing to participate.
Then we can all send these "UIA reminders" to vote to these accounts that are not voting.
In the transaction, we would add a memo saying something like : "Remember that voting for proxy or workers helps the natural growth and health of BitShares and your investment." And we also add a link to a youtube quick video on how to vote.

In the event of a community agreement on that idea, I would create the UIA (the name would be chosen in this thread) and put it for sell in the market at a ridiculous price so everybody can have plenty of that UIA for a a few bts and I would get back the 7K bts paied for UIA creation fee.

Do you think it's a good idea ? Can it be improved ?

If you think it's a good idea, how many bts do you pledge (particpate, support the idea) to buy the UIA (I just want to make sure I can have at least a part of these 7000 bts paid in fees)

I think it could give us a tool to point out the accounts not voting and they would also feel the pression of the community suggesting that it could be nice to vote. It would be a gentle way to manage the voting apathy.

I would also add the UIA on http://richlist.btsgame.org/#/richlist/ so we could see the accounts who has received the more of the UIA-suggestion-to-vote.

Yunbi is an exchange. This is unethical and backhanded. If someone has a dissenting view, then they should fork it.

i don't like it neither, but this is the weakness of voting, when you give away your vote. Yunbi made a clear statement ( i am not so sure
if this is clear for the average user on their exchange). It make sense to attract this faction to their exchange, because, now
they can trade BTS and not have the funds in their own wallet. So it is a clear marketing move, to make them different to polo etc.

i see nothing unethical in this behavior. we where aware of this major problem from the beginning. So to make it clear, the exchanges have
enough votingpower to make everything what they want, but this move will destroy their business  basis.

Instead of flaming the antidilultion fraction you should look for none voting accounts and persuade to vote. If you just click randomly
on account names on cryptofresh you will see, that many account are not voting at all. This makes the community weak, because we have
members who has not said what they want.
That's great idea !!!

I'm gonna throw another idea !

we could make a list of the biggest account not voting and send to them a lot of 1 UIA transaction with a memo to recall them to vote so we get their attention.

The UIA could be named "voting", I create it, distribute it and every time someone sees a not-voting-account we send to him/her some "voting" UIA.

Is there others stuck with the same problem.
I didn't finish the process and claim the half of my muse to avoid mess up with the importation process but I would love to have my muse in my wallet ;)
