same problem here
downloaded the new wallet 0.4.4 couse 0.2.1. and 03.0 said blabla .exe does not work
now the latest version said my crashrpt.1402.dll isnt working
i am ready to give up and wait a month or so till there is a version thats easy to install ( as far as cryptos can be easy)
wasted already 2 days on it
and no i am not a pc beginner

and i wonder why the deinstaller leaves all this files on the pc ?
i had to remove them in the appdata/remote file

and my wallet is still not working

Install version 0.4.4, copy CrashRpt1402.dll (see previous post) into "C:\Program Files (x86)\BitSharesX\bin", run the wallet, should work.
Uninstaller leave files in %APPDATA% because it's your data files (including your wallet).

Thank you testz!
What's your tip address?

General Discussion / Re: Ethereum & BitShares Partnership?
« on: August 19, 2014, 04:01:13 am »
anyone can release a version of ethereum N.0 for N>1 by making their own additions and giving 0.26x minus mining fees since N-1.0 to their own communities as they deem fit, and if the community deems any implementation technically bad or unfair they can reject it and keep building on the previous instead kinda like a blockchain".

Release a version of ethereum (N.0 for N>1) meaning Version N.0, with N greater than one.  This can be taken to mean Ethereum 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0 etc...only Ethereum 1.0 has the current obligations.  Ethereum version 2.0, 3.0...etc could be created by making your own additions to your version of ethereum (thus making it your 2.0 version of ethereum--there may be many 2.0's).

Giving (.26x - Mining Fees since N-1.0 to their own communities as they deem fit) means to:
"Sharedrop" on holders of your ethereum clone, with (what I would assume) is a total taken from the difference between the .26x inflation with mining fees taken out (so it will be less than the .26x total).  This would be intented to keep the supply of YOUR Ethereum clone the same as the original...and you disperse those extra ethereum in whatever way you wish to the holders on your chain.

Hope this helps Delulo.  And please feel free to let me know if I am off here guys and gals.

This is exactly what I meant, thank you fuznuts.

So as an update on possible collaboration, I think we agreed that keeping things informal is the best way forward at this point. No official partnerships or mergers of any companies or any coins/projects, and it doesn't really make sense to copy-paste codebases in either direction either. But we are happy to participate in standardization efforts and collaborative discussions on technical issues as long as it's an open tent where any crypto-2.0 project can participate. I think there definitely are a few areas (eg. proof of stake algos, client standardization) where that would be quite beneficial.

Thank you for having us over, Bitshares team! Look forward to talking more online and offline in the future.

Such an awesome attitude.  I applaud the collaboration and initiation of discussion, welcome to the community Vitalik! +5%

General Discussion / Re: Heads Up for PTS on Cryptsy
« on: August 18, 2014, 06:45:21 pm »
FYI - Here is the response I received from Crypsty:

Quote from: Cryptsy Support
Hello Brian,

Thank you for getting in touch with us about your deposit.
I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you. The PTS wallet is being worked on by our tier 2 technical support team. The wallet is going through an upgrade which may cause delays in processing PTS transactions including withdrawals. We appreciate your patience as we get the coins moving to you.

Please note that you also have the option to cancel the transaction while waiting for the upgrade to be completed. If you wish to do this, kindly respond to this ticket so I can process a cancellation request for you.
Thank you kindly for your patience and understanding.

Sincerely,
Karen

I can confirm as well - I've had some major issues on Cryptsy.  I actually opened a ticket to cancel my withdraw, sold for BTC, transferred to btc38, and bought back into PTS at a loss... (they will at least honor the snapshot)

General Discussion / Issue Withdrawing BitShares PTS from Cryptsy
« on: August 10, 2014, 11:46:05 pm »
Just wanted to give the gang a heads up, I've been having some issues over the past few days whilst sending BitShares PTS to my wallet from my Cryptsy account (a standard withdraw).

While submitting a "withdraw request" (and confirming by e-mail), only a small percentage (~6%) of the PTS I sent to my wallet would make it to my wallet (this has happened twice so far).  Eventually the remaining balance would end up back into my Cryptsy account.

I've submitted a support ticket and the response I've received from Cryptsy so far is:

Quote
The input spam caused withdrawals to return "Transaction Too Large"
meaning the size of the transaction ( in kb ) was too large so the blockchain would reject it.
Our system would detect this and try for half that amount. And continue to do so until it is small enough
and accepted by the blockchain.

This concern has been forwarded to tech support team. I will keep you ticket open
and will keep you posted. Thank you so much for your patience. It is highly appreciated.

Sincerely,
Marjorie

Anyone else running into issues like this or have some insights as to what is going on??

This is very good, needs to go on LTB and as many other crypto news sites as possible

Agreed.
This could make for a great segment that one of the hosts reads...

You want to quote BitShares (as the economy) or BitShares X (as the
decentralised market place with market pegged assets like
bitUSD? These are two different things to communicate.
BitShares is a brand while BitSharesX is a software/network/blockchain

I'm thinking more towards the BitShares platform but am open to targeting the BitSharesX technology.  What do you guys think?

That is only the half truth I fear.
Taking a closer look at
http://wiki.bitshares.org/index.php/What_is_BitShares%3F
I'd go for

BitShares does for business what bitcoin did for money by utilizing distributed
consensus technology to create companies that are inherently global,
transparent, trustworthy, efficient and most importantly profitable.

I agree with you COMPLETELY on this, I was trying to figure out a way to describe things in simpler terms to someone who may have just heard of bitcoin but may not be technically savvy; however I'm starting to think we should be targeting bitcoin users first...  Anyone else agree?

A paradigm shift not just in money ..

This one was tough because of the 30 character limit; definitely open to some suggestions here

Upcoming snapshot at 21/8 for DNS and VOTE

Sounds good to me - I really think we could get 100 people to support within a week.

Update to Thunderclap campaign: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=5756.msg90678#msg90678

I'll be working to finish up the "Message" section and the "Edit Your Story" section this afternoon.  Any and all input would be greatly appreciated.

Once we all agree on the content, the campaign will be submitted to the Thunderclap platform for approval.

I'd like to have this submitted by Wednesday (sooner if possible).

Alright, back to the Thunderclap campaign.

Here is what I have so far for the draft (bold is the section filled out for the Thunderclap, italic is their description of what needs to be filled out, plain text is what I filled out).  I'll be submitting with the @_bitshares twitter handle as the twitter account for supporters to follow.  Please review and make recommendations for edits:

BitShares

Who are you?
Tell us in 1-2 sentences.  This will appear on your Thunderclap page.
BitShares is like Bitcoin; except much easier to use, faster transaction times and even more decentralized.  This ingenious blockchain technology is the first enabler of the concept of distributed autonomous companies (DACs).

Edit Your Story
Tell the story behind your Thunderclap message in a paragraph or two.
We believe that money, in it most modern sense, it utterly corrupt.

BitShares has been invented to fix that.  Whatever your problem may be with money, we challenge you to explore if BitShares can't solve it.
  • Businesses: Imagine if you didn't have to pay credit card fees, ever.
  • Consumers: Imagine what it would be like for the money in your wallet to be worth more tomorrow, not less.
The money we use today wasn't created in a time in history where we have access to the technology we do today.  BitShares is the next paradigm shift in how society communicates to each through monetary transactions.  It's kind of like how the internet changed the consumption of information.  That's what BitShares is doing with finance, and much much more.

edit 1: Added "Edit Your Story" draft.  I'm trying to capture the "why" BitShares has been created.
