We need to switch to Discourse forum software so the number of "likes" can be properly tracked. Too easy to lose count.  :)

This feels like a gimmick to me. Imagine if it were proposed on the bitcoin blockchain. People would say, "That isn't what bitcoin is for."

I say, "This isn't what BTS is for."

General Discussion / Re: BitAsset 2.0 Requirements & Implied Design

BM, you mentioned in a hangout a couple weeks back that you thought feeds only needed to be accurate "within 5% to 10%" of market price, because their primary role was detecting a black swan scenario.

What is your new objective for accuracy, and how confident can the network feel that such a feed will be  reliably available?

Hi everyone,

I broadcast speed chess on Twitch, and tomorrow I'm integrating ChangeTip into the stream to sponsor micro-contests with live viewers. Tomorrow (Thursday, April 30) at 6pm GMT, for Episode 132, we'll be giving away bitcoin prizes to the quickest solvers of some chess puzzles. If it goes over well, I hope to integrate a lot more bitcoin (and other crypto?) tipping in future episodes.

Would love to see you there -- show your support of bitcoin!  8)

My question:

What are the recommended computer specs (ram, etc.) to run the Bitshares client in a stable fashion? Are you satisfied with those requirements?

What is the level the priority to make the client more stable and usable for the average user?

I see your problem. You are trying to sell your BTS! Nice try.  :P

Seriously, though, I think you need to download 0.9 from the website, rather than through the menu of the old client.

if I had to give the "eternal optimist" award to a single community member, it would definitely be Ander. Congratulations!  ;)

General Discussion / Re: Current plans on delegate pay?

If shareholders don't like the 100% delegate pay slots, they can vote out all 100% delegates. There's no need for a hard fork to eliminate this (negligible) inflation.

Imagine a whale requests settlement for a huge amount of BitUSD, to be cleared in 24 hours. What happens during that time? The whale tries his best to depress prices in order to get a favorable settlement. The low-collateral shorts do one of these:

(1) Try to pump BTS. This is no longer a valuation-driven market. It's bad for the entire ecosystem.
(2) Add collateral to pass the problem to the next guy. This is not a solution.
(3) Do nothing (let's be honest -- most shorts won't notice in time). Whales take advantage until nobody wants to short!

I think that the whale will often get a favorable trade against the shorts: a serious problem with the proposed BitAssets 3.0.

The current BitAsset system will be run in parallel with the new system users can migrate at will.
Interesting. Would the old system ever be completely phased out?

we actually write is this way: 13,000$.
I should have known. There are so many ways to punctuate money amounts, around the world!

My mind exploded when I tried to imagine the price of one bitUSDINV in relation to BTS.  :P

The crowdfunder bar in https://moonstone.io/ now updates in real time
Excellent. By the way, the dollar sign should go before the number, for example, $13,000 and not 13,000$. Having it on the wrong side is hurting your professional appearance.  :)

Upon further thought, I think this ruleset is vulnerable to an attack by a whale who can manipulate markets (AKA feed price) upwards for any length of time. Such attacks are particularly problematic in thinner markets.
