I really like 'Certain Assets' .......it quite subtly piqued my interest and prepared my mind for making important distinctions.....

The posts are well reasoned, interesting and informative with an exciting general direction.

One small but important criticism, check spelling and grammar to remove the occasional error.  It's worth the effort!

As to the blockchain subject, I agree that all blockchains could be DAPs but not all DAPs are blockchains, but I hope you'll discuss the importance of the rules (economics, execution, security, governance, scope etc) governing the blockchain. Without a strong consensus for the rules/constitution governing the blockchain and the means by which it adapts, the blockchain/network/DAP will have limited utility/robustness/longevity.  The blockchain and constitution are inextricably linked because that is where the trust for a trustless network lies.  I know I keep saying it, but trust is everything.

Anyway, keep going!

I'm trying to find out how much it will cost to get an Indonesian translation as my brother lives out there....  I'll get back when I know more.

i'm afraid I didn't make it into the shower this morning so I hope cleanish is acceptable for today.....

LOL - i welcome you to the world of the workaholic and my stinky never-gets-laid clan. ;)

Ha! Thanks....i think!  :D

Don't forget trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent ;)
WEBELOS!

Ha, absolutely ken......although I should probably add that of course we can't as individuals be all these amazing things all the time and it would be boring if we were.  The odd fracas and passionate debate is inevitable and healthy.  Also, i'm afraid I didn't make it into the shower this morning so I hope cleanish is acceptable for today.....

Stan can't be responsible for problems and business partners situations really to expect that would not be fair

Someone who expects every lead to materialize and every third party to deliver on its promises clearly has no experience with startups. That isn't how things work in business. You're lucky if 1 in 10 of these things ever develops. Kudos to Stan and the team for continuing to keep us in the loop.
Here is my take on it. Everybody here seems to be so intent on hearing the latest news and grilling the inner development team and inner consulting circle about what's next and why isn't this happening and when is this going to happen and why aren't we doing this.

Then when they try to include members in the loop or help with decision making process or getting your assistance with various things, I see people complain.

It must be a really difficult position for them to be in, and I do not envy them.

If you truly care about the project and where we're going, you don't have to agree with everything but I would say that people should really strive to bring value and positivity and assist however they can in making that dream come true.

Well said.  I'm sure Stan and others have rhino skin and will continue to use humor, reason and positivity to inspire, inform and entertain us all.  For other businesses seeking to leverage the enormous value in the forum, well they can take the best and leave the rest.  It is for us as a community to try to set high standards for ourselves across every aspect of our communications and expression.

If every individual makes a genuine effort to be courteous, open-minded, supportive, patient, positive, forgiving, generous, constructively critical, honest, creative, analytical, truth-valuing and a million other inspirational things, then the strength, depth, quality and value of this community will continue to grow.  It's up to us.

Personally I appreciate every peek into what's going on behind the scenes. I want all the info I can get. For better or for worse. I can temper my own expectations.

And a "peak" is the right word for it.. there is plenty more that just hasn't been announced on the forum.

To be blunt.. with some of the toxic demanding entitled attitudes that surround this forum, I don't blame any company who doesn't want to have their names made the play things of some characters here. Stan does his best to edify and be welcoming... but it is almost inevitable that the mobs first response is to demand name changes, get shared dropped, and tell them how they should be running their business to name just a few. Even I have gotten caught up in this backwards culture at times. Don't expect this forum to be where announcements are made in the future. Expect to see them first in Reuters and the like.

Any real company with real business plans shouldn't give a shit about what this community thinks or posts on this forum

Hahahahaha! Well that's an interesting point of view.

Astounding! Really really great work! That is truely remarkable. Congratulations all devs and engineers and testers!!

How about keep things quiet and not start more speculative bullshit. If it actually happens then talk.

OR this thread was designed to pump BTS

Working on developments and having an open discourse, despite the ill informed trolling and occasional attempts to manipulate the stupid, is one of this community's greatest strengths. Please try to join in constructively or just come back in 3-5 yrs once things are less interesting and more stable.

Tragic.  What a strain on credibility

In business, you seldom have total control of events, in fact you seldom have any control.

You just pivot and carry on.

Sometimes plans work out quicker than expected, sometimes there are setbacks that move projected goals.

To let a change in plans from a situation that you cannot discourage you, is to fail in business.

To carry on in spite of it all is the true measure of success.

Do not discourage yourself and others, celebrate the willingness to move forward in spite of all obstacles.

Of course you are right. That doesn't change the fact that Stan's cocksure attitude leaves a sour taste in the mouth of many community members. He's the boy who cried wolf at this point IMHO.
Horsefeathers. He has literally informed the community of developments as they have happened once he has been given liberty to do so. He is not then responsible for all the businesses that have shown an interest, nor the manner or timescale in which they execute their BitShares implementation. Stan is busy, along with many others, reaching out and forming partnerships that will sustain Cryptonomex and grow BitShares. This is precisely what BitShares needs. Any reasonable person would understand this and would be interested in learning of promising partnerships in development. If they succeed or adapt or fail is not down to Stan or anyone reaching out. What's important is the strategy and the direction.....there are people making the right things happen and if only some of them succeed, well a pebble can start an avalanche.

385
This is absolutely brilliant work and will help BitShares not only to reach more people, but also with political diversification.

Nice Tuck!  Very clear patterns exhibited by entrenched minds.....

I'm getting very excited about the next stage of the financial / morality / consciousness revolution!

General Discussion / Re: What, exactly, constitutes a good platform?
« on: September 29, 2015, 10:23:42 am »
A good platform is the foundation to anything built upon, operating within it or reasoned from it....  For example a building needs a solid foundation, water is a universal medium in which biological processes take place and logic is the foundation to thought.  If the platform is sound, you can expect predictable and stable results.  That does not mean that everything coming after will work or be suitable, in fact over time, the platform may become unfit for purpose or present limiting factors.

A platform might have a highly specific purpose and fulfill that function extremely well but will have no potential for changing it's scope......like a foundation designed for a two-storey building.  If you continue to build upwards, the foundation and building will fail.  The better the understanding of what you are building, the better the platform you are building is likely to be.

Water is a medium in which a plethora of biological processes can occur.  However, the processes have evolved in ways that are perhaps limited by the medium in which they must occur.  The fact that life is amazing speaks to the suitability and flexibility of water as a platform or foundation for building complexity.

BitShares is being consciously built and a great deal of thought has gone into it's design to make sure it is fit for purpose.  What purpose does BitShares attempt to fulfill that would make it a suitable platform?  It is a set of transparent, peer reviewed rules for managing and recording the exchange of digital information.  The nature of information and what we do with it requires us to TRUST that the information can be sent when and to whomever we choose, that the information will be identical between source and recipient and that the record of that information can never be altered.  BitShares, mindful of being an information exchange network that endures, seeks also to remain adaptable.  In order to maintain trust, there are rules for how the rules can be adjusted.  All of these rules ensure that over time, the platform can be trusted to resist changes that interfere with the core expectations of participants.

Other features of BitShares that make it suitable as a digital information exchange and record keeping platform are it's tx speed, ability to scale, software building tools, security, sufficient decentralization, transparency, support of personal privacy, utility as money, contract execution capabilities, ability to fund development.....etc etc.

Any project hoping to be such a platform must have rules and governance that inspire TRUST first, then maximum utility (a broad, scalable feature set) second.

General Discussion / Re: BitShares' Political Defense
« on: September 28, 2015, 12:30:18 am »
Really excellent ideas already mention....just to add....

Awareness, access, utility, ease of use and cost are the keys to sustained mass adoption.....which is ultimately the best defense.

A continued inclusive attitude towards partners, continuing to ensure aligned economic incentives and the referral system are critical to super-charging adoption.

We need to make an effort to control the narrative.... the message being along the lines of, trusting humans always ends badly without unbreakable, transparent rules that cannot be subverted over time. Bitshares, you can trust. Writing helpful, non-malicious software is synonymous with free speech. There is much more we can do here.
