The is not General Discussion. It's "Trading Discussion" at best.  :)

Are there any UI prototypes/demos available of moonstone? Would be great to see some samples of the dev progress so far!

Opening post contains this:

Moonstone development is continuing in great steps. We will be presenting the frontend for the first time at the Texas Bitcoin Conference March 28th. You'll be able to see the initial screenshots in our upcoming bitshares.tv video interview (thanks Max!).

So, I guess we might see something today?

General Discussion / Is "Market Rules Summary" correct?
« on: March 27, 2015, 10:17:13 pm »
Under "Exchange" in the client, I see a "Help" button in the upper right. It pops out this information:

Quote
Short orders can only get filled under these conditions:

1. There is someone willing to buy BitUSD at the price feed
2. AND Your short order is the highest interest rate order
3. AND Your price limit is lower than the feed (BTS per USD) or you didn't specify a price limit
4. AND You have enough collateral to provide 2x backing at the trade price and quantity
5. OR Your price limit is higher than the feed (BTS per USD) and someone is willing to buy at your price limit

Short orders are forced to cover after 30 days by taking the best offers at the time. No fee is charged.

Short orders are forced to cover when 75% of their collateral is required to cover, leaving the short with 25% of the collateral minus a 5% fee.

The 5% fee is assessed as a percent of the collateral left over after covering.
I can barely parse the AND and OR clauses, and I consider myself to be fairly logically-minded!  :P Anyway, is this information still correct? I was under the impression that it was not possible to short at a price below the feed, but point (3) seems to state that it is possible.

Thanks!

Stakeholder Proposals / Is Bitsapphire still a recommended delegate?
« on: March 27, 2015, 03:06:40 pm »
I see at the top of the forums: "Vote for Bitsapphire and Support the Bitsharestalk forum."

However, I don't see any active associated delegate for Bitsapphire in the top 101 at https://bitsharesblocks.com/delegates. Did the plans change when they switched to a different fundraising strategy? Is this notice out-of-date?

General Discussion / Re: BitShares 0.8.0 Feedback

After bumping RAM up to 8gb, v0.8 is working well. Fully synced now. Good work!

However, if the client crashes, resuming the sync seems to hang sometimes.

An excellent paper. Thank you for sharing this.

My thought is that anything multi-level would be extremely damaging to the brand.

A single-level "lifetime fee capture" bonus would be more reasonable, but even that would turn away some people, who would want to collect their own referral bonus.

The purpose of BTS is to own a share in something that can become great. This marketing idea feels a bit gimmicky, and it complicates the user experience. In my opinion, if you build a better mousetrap, the world will beat a path to your door. Focus on the fundamentals.

General Discussion / Re: Current State of Light Wallet(s)

Sync finished up. Increasing memory to 8 GB fixed the crashing during download, it seems. Thanks, all, for your help!

There is a bug, though: if the client closes unexpectedly, the sync will hang and not download any more blocks. It needs to be able to recover from a crash better.

I don't see a download link to the light wallet on bitshares.org. Perhaps it should be added?

How much RAM are you running?
When I updated to 8-16GB everything was significantly faster and smoother.
You updated from 8 GB to 16, or to "about 8 or 16"?

I'm stuck at 88 days remaining. Deleting my chain for the third time today...   :(

General Discussion / Current State of Light Wallet(s)
« on: March 25, 2015, 09:26:13 pm »
Struggling with the blockchain download (and associated crashes) is no fun at all. This makes me wonder: is there a stable light wallet ready for public consumption?

I'm also curious to hear of any other light wallets under construction.

Thanks!

Mine is even worse.

Code: [Select]
  "blockchain_average_delegate_participation": "0.01 %",
I'm not fully synced yet, though. Does that have an impact?

I'm getting crashing while trying to sync from a new install. Latest version v0.8. Could this be related to the computer entering sleep mode?

General Discussion / Re: EMERGENCY : the market is broken
« on: March 25, 2015, 12:33:08 am »
I actually liked the short-lived idea of allowing only self-shorting, which instantly matched every new short against the issuer, so that they could then sell the created BitAsset on the market. This removed the shorts from the order book, making the whole trading experience much more approachable for newcomers. It also removed the interest rate on shorts, which has been shown to be a gimmick because equilibrium rate is 0% (via the existing ability to self-short and take an unbounded portion of it for yourself at any time).

Besides being a big change, was there a major downside to this approach?

With v0.8 out now, the sensationalist subject line should probably be changed.  :P

This is looking great so far! Looking forward to the presentation on the 28th!

Technical Support / Any active gateways?
« on: February 13, 2015, 06:10:42 am »
The Bitshares website under "Gateways" is information only. See https://bitshares.org/resources/gateways. Are there any active gateways on the network? Any gateways under development?
