bitusd vs nubits:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=794059.0;topicseen

Woooo. Hopefully I wasn't too harsh in there. I look at this project as my baby and the Bitshares community members as my family, as this is only 1 out of 2 alt coins I have publicly supported since joining the Bitcoin community two years ago. I hated to see this thread getting personal, as it really should be about the merits of both projects and not the people involved. I hope I didn't make things worse, but all of that needed to be said for the better or the worse.

2nd reply from HitBTC, sounds pretty positive!

"Thank you for the information.
We will need some time to make all the preliminary arrangements on our side.
I will get back to you as soon as we are ready to discuss the implementation itself and the technical details."

They don't need contacting again so please don't push them further about this.

Got a negative reply from bitstamp:

"Thank you for reaching out to us regarding your inquiry. However Bitstamp is not currently looking to add additional crypto assets to our exchange platform."

Great job Matt. Admittedly this is a hit or miss game, some services are open minded towards accepting new cryptos and embracing new technologies... Others are not. I think it is important to at least contact them because the worst they can do is say no, and that at least gets their attention so they know we exist. Even if they say no, maybe they will eventually come to and see the benefits accepting BTSX can provide.

A lot of these services have seen new cryptos pop up in the past with big market caps and subsequently disappear just as fast as they popped up. It may take a while for the major services to realize we are not a pump and dump coin and we are not going anywhere soon. Over time Btsx will be vindicated and adopted by these services. The important thing is just to get our name out there and make these services aware that we are an innovative cryptocoin that is not going anywhere anytime soon. I speculate we will slowly see success with these larger services just as Litecoin did. I know from being in the Litecoin community so long.. They really struggled (and still do) to get big Bitcoin services on board, but it did slowly happen after a lot of persistence by the community. We just need to keep at it and we can't give up! It will happen eventually and that will cement us in our place at the top of the crypto economy!

I have no doubt that Bitcoin will be replaced in the medium term. It's unique selling point was that it solved the disadvantages of centralisation and was private. In practice it's very bad at both for most.

It's not pulling away from the competition either despite global exposure and massive investment this year it's down and struggling.

It's pulling away in terms of adoption and therefore usefulness.  Not altcoins are making significant progress in adoption, but Bitcoin has important new announcements every week.  (The entire crypto space is currently down, lead by Bitcoin's decline price decline.)

Atm BTSX isn't a competitor as it's still new and in rapid development and is currently more CPOS than DPOS. + I guess they need the same merchant, PayPal type access as Bitcoin. But in general they're developing so fast that it's a few months away from changing everything.

I doubt that PayPal is going to add support for 5 different cryptocurrencies.  Adding even 1 more is probably well more than a few months away.  No altcoins are making significant strides in mainstream adoption.  Bitcoin widens the gap everyday.

Isn't PayPal partnered with Bitcoin payment processors so that people that use PayPal can also use Bitcoin?

Exactly, they are partnered with Bitcoin payment processors, NOT BITCOIN. PayPal will accept multiple cryptocurrencies as long as the payment processors handle everything for them. I doubt PayPal will even touch cryptocurrencies... The payment processors will exchange everything into FIAT for them. So, if BTSX can get added to one of the major payment processors it has a good chance to be used at PayPal and other major retailers. Getting added to major exchanges and payment processors is the key, as these major retailers don't give two craps about Cryptocoins. All they care about is money (FIAT), and cryptocoins are just another avenue for them to receive more of it.

To make getting accepted at a major payment processor more likely,  BTSX needs to get added to older and more reputable exchanges (no offense to those that already accept BTSX). We as a community should focus on getting added to major exchanges and payment processors, and that will give us a good chance to be used at major retailers. Any cryptocurrency their partners support will be the ones that they accept, as they will be receiving FIAT no matter what cryptocurrency the payment processors accept.

Ps: see the link in my signature for things you can do to help that process. :D

You can worry yourself to death with what ifs and live in fantasy land, or you can do the best with what you have and live in reality. BTSX already has a network effect. Sure if a huge company came along they could probably crush us, but the longer BitsharesX is around getting press, gaining more users, gaining value, and improving upon itself the less likely that is to happen. Supposedly I3/dacsun is about to start a big marketing push, so I wouldn't worry about it too much as we are gaining network effect every day and it is about to be greatly accelerated.

There are people like TonyK in any cryptocoin community, or any community for that matter especially online. You shouldn't be on Internet forums or communities if you can't deal with people like this and have thick skin. His attitude is unfortunate sometimes, but I think we need to learn to deal with it, and move on about our days. If he really bothers you a lot just don't read his posts, but I don't think he should be banned or excommunicated based on his attitude. It would be great if he could tone it down a little bit, but some people will never change their ways and we need to accept that.

I am fairly sure that I could buy some nice breasts with my BTSX :)...

BitBreast... tracks the value of breast implants :)

You could go for the real deal -> in some countries it is legal. Pricing per hour.

Just remember my motto, "If you can touch them, their real!"

Rofl. My motto is the opposite. "If you can't touch them they're probably real."

I would like to see Bitshares become a full blown commodity exchange with things like beef, coffee, wheat, corn, cocoa, etc.

This is the same guy that created the Bitshares is the great satan on a Blockchain thread right? I wonder why he's not pouncing on Nubits... I think these attacks are more out of spite/jealousy that BitsharesX passed them up on Coinmarketcap rather than based on the way BitsharesX functions, otherwise he would be attacking Nubits right now.

While we're on this subject, here's something slightly related. EUROCEX exchange has just added PTS, will be adding BTSX next week, and I'm strongly suggesting they also add BitUSD. I hadn't heard of this site before, but it could become useful. Chime in, if you please!

Awesome. The more exchanges the better, it spreads around the counterparty risk from people getting in and out of BTSX. :)

If you saw what brian+cass+marketing bros were up to I think you'd be ok with waiting another month or so before a "big" push. I hate vague promises of "something big is coming", but actually...

Let's see what its volume looks like in a couple of weeks. People may just be trying it out, especially Peercoiners. Is it possible also that market makers and their bots need to acquire a supply with which to conduct their trading activity?

I assume that was done privately off the exchanges, but it is possible. I agree we will get a better feel for the volume in a few weeks or so.

Regardless, I think it's time for Bitshares to really up our marketing game. I have heard we've been waiting to fix bugs and the software is ready for prime time. I think now that we have competition we should advance this timeline and the time is now! Despite our opinions on being a better solution to the same problem, the better technological/ideological solution doesn't always win!

Hmm. I'm a bit shocked by Nubit's volume.. I am not sure what to make of it.

http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/nubits/#markets

http://coinmarketcap.com/assets/bitusd/#markets

I am puzzled seeing as though I think BitsharesX is a better solution.. less prone to manipulation just vote out delegates if they act up with their price feeds (Nushareholders holders can't be ousted for manipulating interest rates or printing of money)... more fair distribution and release (AGS/PTS vs internal funding, even now u have to message the dev and give him a reason why u should be able to buy Nushares)... bitUSD has collateral ( Nubits are Non collateralized and can be printed by Nusharesholders)... set free market dynamics that don't change after we get them right (vs Nusharesholders adjusting interest rates and printing money)... Nothing like the Feds (Nushares similar to the Feds.)

What am I missing? Is it because they are on more exchanges? Because it's new and people want to mess around with it? Marketing? Long time Peercoiners support that will fade away eventually once they run out of crypto/capital?

The screens look pretty slick but I don't like how they hijacked the coinmarket name for their own use.  They are NOT associated with coinmarketcap.com

i think this is a clever marketing step! The provide the marketcapapp so why not using the name ;) my 2 btsx

It is a bit confusing.. Coinmarketcap and Coinmarketapp

The first time I saw it on Bitcointalk I thought they were associated with Coinmarketcap.

General Discussion / Re: Price Feed Precision Issue
« on: September 25, 2014, 10:22:20 pm »
The following command:

wallet_publish_price_feed emski 0.1914 CNY

generated the following feed:

2014-09-25T16:23:39 578771    emski               emski               0.00000 BTSX            publish price 0.19139999999999996 CNY / ... 0.50000 BTSX        7c78e050
2

Is the insignificant inaccuracy in the published feed expected ?

I've seen this before too
