General Discussion / Re: Ovchinnikov is a scammer, don't trade!
« on: November 19, 2013, 02:22:29 am »
Yeah, I should have known better. We did one successful trade, then he disappeared. I don't think I'll get my money back. I just hope the mods can ban him before others are swindled.

General Discussion / [Scam] Ovchinnikov is a scammer, don't trade!
« on: November 18, 2013, 11:17:03 pm »
Can provide proof to the mods, please ban him or put a scammer tag in front of his id so others don't get cheated.
I sent him 0.6 BTC and he never sent the 50 PTS that we agreed upon.
Here's the hash of 0.6 BTC delivered to him: 4cc3d5d0334e4d7a48b7991262f9e5a92617572d98db7b085c12d10b6ca9eef2

He stopped replying to my PMs and he's online, so definitely a scammer. Be aware.

BitShares PTS / Re: What is ProtoShares?
« on: November 17, 2013, 06:11:45 pm »
I noticed that Mastercoin is trying to do something very similar to BitUSD only using trusted price feeds.    His code is all open source so if Mastercoin works out then anyone could create a fork of Mastercoin that honors the ProtoShares positions and as a result compete against Mastercoin.   In fact, his latest design for BitUSD was inspired after I revealed problems in his original design.  I would go so far as to say that Mastercoin is an implementation of BitShares without dividends.

In fact, ANY new altchain should honor ProtoShares positions if they want to adopt our user base.   The social contract behind ProtoShares is that it will serve as the 'pre-mine' seed for all future crypto-assets and any chain of value that does not honor it can be forked to honor it.

If this social contract gets strong enough, no new altcoin will be able to start without honoring it and therefore ProtoShares become the most highly sought-after coin in the crypto-currency space.
This. Not going to pin my hopes on this, but this is exactly the potential of ProtoShares. The community can make or break it though.

ProtoShare is added to market of Bter.com

https://bter.com
Nice!
Seems cheaper to buy there than at the forum ;)

I'd just get rid of any rankings. they mean nothing.
You're the moderator man, can't say that  :D

at this rate we'll all be hero members, keep in ind that when a noob comes here and sees a "hero" they trust and get scammed. also, scammer tags would be awesome.
Maybe something like what the Bitcointalk forum does? It's a function of how many times you've posted in a 2-week period and number of posts. Since this is new, we could make it 2-day period perhaps?

General Discussion / Pricing Differences without an Exchange
« on: November 17, 2013, 01:05:57 pm »
I think PTS has grown enough that major exchanges like Cryptsy and btc-e should include them. There's already a lot of pricing differences in the trades that occur. For instance, in the forum right now, people are buying at 0.02 whereas the last trades in this exchange - bter.com is around 0.01651. That's a 20% discount right there, which is fairly high in my opinion.
At least the Chinese exchanges seem smarter about this endeavor!

General Discussion / Re: Some Clarity on Dividends
« on: November 17, 2013, 02:35:36 am »
You've probably covered this before, but I need a little more clarity on the dividends aspect of BitShares.

1. If I hold just BitShares and DO NOT convert those to any BitAsset, will I still get dividends in BitShares?
2. If I hold BitAssets, will I get more dividends? Will the dividends be in BitShares or BitAssets?
3. If I short-sell BitAssets, will I immediately get the corresponding BitShares credited to my account (assume I hold enough collateral)? Will these be eligible to pay me dividends, assuming 1 is true?

Holding BitShares pays you dividends.
Holding BitAssets gets you 1.5 to 2.5x the dividend rate.... dividends that would have been paid on collateral are paid to BitAsset holder, denominated in BitShares
If you short-sell BitAssets, you must put in BitShares equal to the value of the BitAsset you are shorting.  While your BitShares are being held as collateral you do not earn dividends on them.

Thanks for the clarification!
Get Bitshares out already  :D

You don't want it to come out yet.  You want time to accumulate more ProtoShares first.    ;)

Good point, I get impatient sometimes!

BitShares PTS / Re: Coyote Pool 2.0 - One Day Rounds Proportional Payout
« on: November 17, 2013, 02:33:09 am »
I know its difficult to say but, any predictions on how much PTS will climb to in 3 month, without being prejudiced?

I don't see any coin to which PTS can be compared, I think everything depends from Invictus progress.
+1. There is only so much protoshares can grow by itself. After that, it needs BitShares and DomainShares and other cool stuff. It can see huge payoffs if BitShares takes off, for instance. And by huge, I mean more than Mastercoin.
