General Discussion / Re: Where are the feeds
« on: September 25, 2014, 04:57:47 pm »
As a delegate, do you have to publish individual price feeds, or can you say publish the values of 10 bitassets and only pay one fee?
What is the fee that delegates have to pay to publish said price feed?
Cheers

General Discussion / Re: DACs for Virtual Reality

Hey guys,

Couple links first:
Opensim: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Main_Page
Hypergrid: http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Hypergrid
Opensim wiki on money implementations (poor implementations): http://opensimulator.org/wiki/Money

Basicly, think of opensim as an opensource virtual reality that's very similar to second life.
Hypergrid is an extension to opensim that links opensim servers together to create a mesh of vr worlds.

One massive thing that Opensim is missing is currency - there are centralized tokens that people are issuing, but that's a terrible solution! What if DPOS was implemented where a delegate has to host part of an opensim on our own hypergrid, and we track all currency and inventory on the blockchain?

Delegates would not only get fees on transactions, but users would also be buying land on their servers to create their own virtual reality areas. This would require delegates to have powerful servers, but it could be very profitable for the delegates to do so.

One thing that would be very difficult however is policing - who are admins? how does reporting work? etc.. tricky. Looks like hypersim might give such powers of policing to hypersim owners (in this case the delegates).

Thoughts? :)

I had a similar idea (above) in this thread that got no love: https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=8346.0

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Delegate consortium

Cannonizer looks cool, but it's centralzied. Also, what's the mormon transhumanist association and why is it sponsoring this? If you don't mind me asking... Are you begining a religious political delegate campaign?
Is there a consensus on bitshares' stance about the seperation of church and DAC?

Marketplace / Re: 1 PTS Per Unique Bug Identified - BitShares X Testing
« on: September 24, 2014, 04:43:58 pm »
Running v0.4.14 of bitshares-x, is it normal that when you log in and press the forward button with no forward history, it'll log you out and the background/logo disappears, switching to white before being loaded again? Actually.. if it's loading these images online, it might be because my internet's being slow that the graphics aren't showing temporarily.

Second thing, when you're entering an amount in a transfer - if you put a comma into the field, it'll say "Wrong Amount". I noticed this when copying my full balance into the transfer field which contained a comma.
version v0.4.16-x64: Clicking on the balance to automatically max out a buy/sell/short order when the balance has a comma ',' in the number will break the calculation. Manually removing the comma from the quantity field fixes it.

Stakeholder Proposals / Delegate consortium

A consortium is an association of two or more individuals, companies, organizations or governments (or any combination of these entities) with the objective of participating in a common activity or pooling their resources for achieving a common goal.

I was thinking, instead of working towards a closed access foundation, how about a democratic consortium where delegates can discuss/vote on important topics as representatives of the users they were elected by?
I've found a few of the following, what do you think? Think the voting DAC that's been recently snapshotted would be more suitable?

General Discussion / Re: Insufficient feeds for USD and CNY
« on: September 20, 2014, 01:05:53 pm »
Maybe somebody with lots of BTSX should fire a few delegates that are not providing up-to-date feeds.
How can we tell what delegates are and aren't providing feeds? Also, how often are delegates expected to publish feeds? Perhaps delegates feel that the fees are too expensive to provide the network?

Think it'd be possible to create a captcha to prevent mass-account creations by a bot?

Broke down one of the infographics to some of the smaller components for use in delegates websites:

hey thx for helping…

could pls use google drive or something? When users must zip something from a untrusted source ... you know?
Better if you could use .. GD or something similar and pls don't archive files ... then we could see whats inside .. just my 2BTSX

hurry on :)
I'll bear that in mind next time, sorry :P

How about FREE to everyone who votes No in the Scotland referendum?  ;D

Hah! Jog on mate, i'm voting yes tommorow! ;P

On a more serious note, how did the 'Free' bitassets come into existance? Are user created bitassets a thing that anyone can make?

So what.. it's a clone of bitshares-x? Or am I missing something?

BitShares PTS / Re: Can we just move PTS to DPoS?
« on: September 17, 2014, 08:51:43 pm »
I imagine a future PTS where the delegates are development teams for new DACs - the fees helping fund the development. Only good can come from this change!

Technical Support / Re: Inactivity fees on bitassets?

Something i'm not massively clear on - if I became one of the 101 delegates, i've heard it's possible to raise the fees - would it be possible to do so if I had a legit reason? (Say distributing the fees out to users).

What ports are required by bitshares-x as a delegate? I've got to manually open end-points, or it'll get blocked.
Huh? .. I thought the client can sustain active without opening up ports to the outside world?
You only need (as far as I know) to make sure the wallet can connect to the outside world .. not the other way round ..
Ok cool, i'll bear that in mind when setting up my delegate. Thanks :)

I am a little undecided whether the charity delegates should take part in this .. because for them it is a cost that can be avoided .. :-\

or am I too picky on this?! Interested to hear your thought on this ..
How much does it cost to publish a feed?
I've been looking into publishing hundreds of feeds, but if it's going to cost btsx to do so.. might have to reevaluate that one..
