General Discussion / Re: Wow, I'm glad I sold.

its very simple we are at a marketcap of around 10m. If the excnage gets 10m of assets converted into USD, GOLD etc then guess what the price of BTS has to at least double to compensate for the loss of BTS locked into assets.

I think the UI needs work but as bitshares develops it will so then who wants to use an unsafe decentralised exchange when they can store their digital assets 100% safely? My point is Bitshares is unlikelt to fail.....it just needs time, no exchange got big in a week.

If you don't buy back in now then you have really congratulated yourself for selling Bitcoin at 50 cents. Good luck short term guy...

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares price discussion
« on: October 20, 2015, 12:25:11 pm »
I'm still new. But is it possible those who have not inserted their BTS wallet into the new 2.0 wallet affected the price? I haven't done so yet since I simply forgot. But I'm still holding onto my BTS

Yes of course it would. When these users start using their bts2 and generate tx fees in the network, bts2 will earn revenue and profit.  How can it not increase in value and price?

Well but that's the thing. There's not many places where people can spend bts/smartcoins right now.

The way I see it, what we need is a MASSIVE campaign, a push by as many enthusiasts as we can get to get online stores to accept bts/smartcoins.
You can help too! If you're self employed, offer to be paid in BitEUR (or whatever) and give the client a 10-15% discount. That'll make them think!

I was thinking today that Bitshares already has a browing use and market. ie People when they convert BTS to USD, GOLD etc are buying something with Bitshares. So that IS the market, the market for digital assets basically.

General Discussion / Would a Trollbox be possible?
« on: October 19, 2015, 02:43:01 pm »
I really enjoy like a lot of people chatting in the trollbox of polinex. Without this social side a trading site can find it hard to maintain interest.

So is it possible in a decentralised system. And if the exchange really grew massive way beyond a Polinex how could it be managed. I can see some difficulties like lack of mods or the need to create multiple rooms for number of people. Maybe even a paid service?

I dont have any answers, just questions but I think its something to think about as the platform develops. Bottom line humans like to connect and communicate and without this exchanges can get a little dry.

Maybe it would be something that is managed by a third party or just individuals clubbing together... but I think having an official decentralised chat would be ideal.

General Discussion / Re: Leave the Dev's alone!

LEAVE THE TROLLS ALONE!!!
He makes a good point. No one actually thanked the devs for the hard work .. take a look at the source quality and quantity .. then decide if you find another project worth your money or not

Don't they get paid?  Assuming they did then in some ways holders are a bit like the boss who has paid for something and expects a return on their investment. I'm not saying you have to be jerk but people have q responsibility to deliver too.

General Discussion / Anyone concerned about the vol?
« on: October 16, 2015, 01:19:02 pm »
I'm not seeing any vol on the exchange. There was initial vol I assume was put there by bitshares to pad things out but I'm seeing very little added. It's early days but it's not encouraging.

I don't think the UI attracts people to trade. Can anyone encourage me that more vol is gonna come?

please don't bury this question in questions and concerns.

Technical Support / Re: Two important questions.

BTS is not created or destroyed, but locked away as collateral while the USD exists (which is created and destroyed).

I think I understood that, I used the word 'use' cause i did t know how to phrase it. it's ultimately taken out of circulations as simply bts though, right? So less bts in circulation as long as it is locked in as for example USD.

Where can we see the overal use of bts 'locked' into assets?

Technical Support / Two important questions.
« on: October 15, 2015, 10:32:34 am »
I'm a total newbie to Bitshares but not to alts. It seems to be two things collide to massively increase the value of bitshares, can I check I am not mistaken as I invest in more.

First am I correct in saying that bitshares are actually used when a bitshares smart coin is made? It does it take bitshares of a value of 1 USD roughly to make a 1 USD asset?

Two, how can we see the progress of how many assets exist, USD, GOLD etc? By this we can gauge how much bitshares are used in assets and that will help determine value, right?

*plus I agree with some criticism of the UI at the moment, it's not terrible but i think a much user friend brighter look is needed.
