General Discussion / Re: omisego - a bitshares competitor ?

The first question I have is about their scaling since they're using Ethereum. Another question I have is if they are going to implement pegged currencies, because that's what makes this DEX a lot better than some others. By the look of things, they've raised more than the market cap of Bitshares.

I'm not 100% sure, but I heard bitspark is working on international transfers using the bitshares platform: https://blog.bitspark.io/bitspark-switching-to-bitshares-for-remittances/

General Discussion / Re: A way to mass adoption: consumer credit

I think Bitshares would be perfect to lead this industry. Because there are named accounts, reputation can be built, which would lead to a sort of credit score. If that could be implemented, investors would flock in and there would be high quality borrowers. As opposed to other p2p cryptocurrency lending platforms, Bitshares has price stable cryptocurrencies, so there can be competitve and predictable interest rates. I can even envision something like a Rotating Savings and Credit Association being built on the platform. However it's done, having a place where borrowers and lenders can meet will definitely increase the demand for Bitshares.

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares Trading Bots
« on: July 12, 2017, 05:03:51 pm »
creating a custom automated trading strategy without knowing how to code will be hard at least. you need to get yourself a programmer that can work on it. the bitshares-core api is rich enough to create any trading strategy. you basically pull the feed/order book of a market, analyze, make trade decisions client side and send orders to the dex.

i will recommend to make trading bots in python as you already have some open source code to look at in the links you provided but can actually be any lang that can read/write data to a websocket.

i can, and the community will also help in this for sure but you need to get a developer, you need to make him understand your strategy and he will get all the technical help we can provide from our side.

Okay thanks. My sister is a programmer, so I'll ask her to help. I might even start learning something myself

General Discussion / Bitshares Trading Bots
« on: July 09, 2017, 05:47:01 pm »
I see some different BItshares trading bots:

StakeMachine: https://steemit.com/bitshares/@xeroc/stakemachine-trading-infrastructure-and-simple-market-making-bot-for-bitshares--opensource-bot-for-bitshares
LiqBot: https://steemit.com/bitshares/@linouxis9/liqbot-0

There's btsbots too, but I wanted more customized strategies. I have no idea how to code. I would like to set it up, but I need more in depth guides or some help. It would be great if something like this could be inbuilt into the DEX. Any suggestions?

General Discussion / Re: Bancor: Smartcoins With Infinity Liquidity
« on: July 04, 2017, 12:46:02 am »
The concept behind Bancor is so simple. Couldn't something like this easily be replicated by having bitshares as the reserves and building a token on top of it?

Yeah, but I think most BTS shareholders are apprehensive of diluting BTS tokens for new features based on past experiences.

Me personally... I say we keep development moving and implementing new features, otherwise we will be left behind... as far as blockchain tech goes.

I agree we should move forward, because if this is successful, then exchanges will become obsolete. I think Bitshares is the better platform to implement something like Bancor since Ethereum has scaling issues and increasing gas costs. The great thing about Bitshares is that a protocol like Bancor is easily within their capacity, so adjustments can be made if needed, but I want to see how Bancor turns out first.
