Technical Support / depressing...
« on: June 08, 2016, 02:09:15 pm »
I just dumped all of my BTS at a massive loss.  I was an early investor of PTS.  Bitshares had such vision, promise, and energy.  Now this is just depressing.   I'm out.  Good luck!

what's strange is that it seems that the blockchain does not know about my account.  My account has indeed been registered back in August as "patrickb323".  But, when I sent from my other wallet the transaction shows up as traderemma1 -> UNKNOWN even though I have received the funds in the target account "patrickb323".

I am getting the same error.  fully synced, I'm able to login and see my balances and transactions. I can receive funds but get this error when I try to send.

I get this behavior for one of my wallets, not the other.  I will try again with the next version.

Do I need to have my BTSX in my wallet? or is it ok to leave on the bter exchange?

Also, I still have unclaimed BTSX from AGS/PTS and I'm assuming this is ok.

10 second blocks!

Why is it such a problem to move the shares for a day and then move them back?q

because bter takes 1% in fees upon withdrawal.

there needs to be a super simple BitUSD Wallet to support these on ramps.   no btsx functionality  included.

BM stated in another thread that the user only needs to prove ownership of the private key to avoid inactivity fees.   So a  vote transaction is all that is necessary,  no need to move all funds.

who is talking?   the 'miners'  talking amongst themselves?

Does this impact/conflict with the inactivity fee of btsx? Or does this not matter since we are dealing with BitUSD?

we need to facilitate creation of BitUSD accounts,  and bury all of the btsx and crypto related stuff from the user.   we need to attract a different type of user.

One segment that should be pursued is merchants.

Payment processors like Bitpay could offer 'no exposure to bitcoin volatility' to their customers.   This would serve those merchants who want to accept bitcoin but hate the risk.  We just need to find ways to have people store small values of BitUSD for short amount of time.  Most merchants don't care about how much btc they have,  just the current USD value.

It requires these pathways :

BTC > BitUSD
BitUSD > USD

What are the issues with implementing the BitUSD > USD pathway?

General Discussion / Re: BTSX Wallet Best Practices and Danger Areas
« on: September 04, 2014, 07:51:21 pm »

Instead of using multiple accounts,  I swap between 2 wallets on the same install.  I do this by renaming APP_DATA/config.json file and APP_DATA/wallets/ folder and swap wallets in/out as I wish.

Is this dangerous?  seems to work for me.

This should be a wallet feature.    Prompt user to refresh funds over  X months.

this kind of sucks for cold storage.   right?

If value flows from BTC to bitBTC as described above,  won't the price of BTC crash?  and the peg take down bitBTC with it?

you can update this value in the GUI under preferences.   I set mine to 0.1.

Agreed 1% is excessive.   I took the hit anyways and it was painful.  After the NXT fiasco, it didn't feel safe with large amounts of btsx on bter.
