WHAT IS ARK?
ARK is an open database (DAPP) where people can list newly created cryptocoins, and where the community can easy find them in real time. (manually, or via smart contract)
A simple trustless list of new coins. ARK is an open database built on Ethereum.
If you are looking for newly created coins, ARK does the job!
ARK is also the first Collaborative Market.
The Proof Of Concept for any future Collaborative Market.

IS THIS LIKE A NAME-SYSTEM FOR COINS?
No. We wanted to apply the concept of collaborative markets to something simple. A name system was one of the ideas, but there are already too many coins around and trolls would buy pre-existing names and make a mess. It is an open database, more a list able to keep detailed informations you can refer to. Like how many coins, if you can mine them, where is the website etc. etc.

WHAT IS A COLLABORATIVE MARKET?
Whereas a large corporation may give power to a single entity, a collaborative market (or Plex Market) is a group of microeconomical actors joining together to offer a service to the public, all ruled by a trustless smart contract.

IS ARK A DAO?
ARK belongs to the family of DAO, but differs in that it is specific; it is built to fulfill your local law. We call it a Collaborative Market. It is an environment producing value (offering services) that is then shared by the owners of the service.

IS ARK A FINANCIAL PRODUCT?
No. If you buy shares from Apple or Microsoft you buy a percentage of income, a dividend, and you have no idea what they really do with your money. A collaborative market is a FINANCIAL PRODUCT EMULATOR. You are the main subject offering the service, and you offer it according to the smart contract ARK, keeping in balance the earnings of all owners.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
In order to list a new coin on ARK DB, you must pay an ANTISPAM fee. (1 fair ETH)

WHO GETS ALL THIS MONEY?
The community: ARK BOTs (shop) owners.

HOW DOES IT HAPPEN?
When you buy a BOT (shop) you enable it, and as soon as a customer comes, you serve him and you get the money.
Now it is NEXT BOT's turn, and when a new customer comes the NEXT BOT will serve the customer and get the money.
A TRUSTLESS MULTIPLEXER POINTER steps in, redirecting the customers to the CURRENT SELLER, BOT by BOT, so that at the end of the cycle, all existing BOTs served a customer, and the cycle restarts from BOT 1. Endlessly.
In the long term, all the BOT owners will earn the same amount of money, emulating a financial product.

WHY NOT DIRECTLY A FINANCIAL PRODUCT?
The strict rules and bureaucracy of directly creating (and buying) a financial product can hinder the process. COLLABORATIVE MARKETS ruled by a TRUSTLESS MULTIPLEXER are an ALTERNATIVE MODEL that can be applied to smaller projects, allowing the little developer to meet the power of the crowd with low commitment to bureaucratic processes. If you have the right to sell a product on eBay, so you have the right to operate ARK market, and offer the related services, according to your local law.

ARE THERE ANY OTHER WAYS TO MAKE MONEY WITH ARK?

ARK contains 6 different services:

LIST NEW COIN

EDIT COIN

EDIT BOT

RESELL BOT

ADD ADVERTISING

ADD HOME ADVERTISING

WHO DECIDES THE COSTS OF THE SERVICES?
The community members. Those who own the BOTs and share the income offering ARK services to the public. The prices can be adjusted to the market value via an experimental democratic voting interface.

HOW MANY BOTS ARE INSIDE ARK?
The total amount will be decided at the moment of launch. From the very first moment of the initial sale, the number of BOTS cannot be changed.

CAN I TRADE MY BOTS?
Technically, yes. But ARK starts with a very high fee (RESELL BOT). ARK is meant for long term investors. If in the future the community decides (via inner voting system) to lower the cost of RESELL-BOT service, they will be easily tradable.

IF THERE IS A CYCLE SO THE FIRST BOT HAVE AN ADVANTAGE?
If you are a short term investor, then you will be interested in buying some of the first BOTS of the cycle. If you are a medium/long term investor then you don't mind. In fact, a bot will cost around 1 ETH, and listing a coin will cost around 1 ETH, so if you buy the first BOT of the list and a first customer comes you already got back your money.

WHY ARK IS A SPECIAL EXPERIMENT?
Because it is a basic test on the capabilities of Ethereum, where we can really have an idea of the gas costs of a complete billing system.

OK BUT...WHY ARK?
The community needs a Coin DB. A clean list of coins, not some messy forums. The age of proprietary databases is over. We have now an open one, fully interconnectable. Managed by the community, forever. Any one can connect his own application. If you build an application with proprietary database, no one will use it. IF you connect to a central resources system so it is completely different. I pay you but those informations will be accessible forever, whatever is going to happen. Your company may fail, your application may vanish, but the links are all there, in the central database. This is the end of the dissipative world we are used to.

HOW CAN THE COMMUNITY BE PROTECTED BY SPAM?
ARK contains a simple and experimental democratic BLACKFLAG management system. Plus, in extreme, a brutal censorship function managed by the operators (BOTs owners).

SO DO I BUY A "FUTURE PROJECT"?
No, as soon as you buy, the game starts. This is not an [ICO], you buy a ready instance of a web-service. [SSS] stands for Start Software Sale. It is a completely new model. Get used to it, tons of collaborative markets to come... any web service can be transformed into a collaborative market, granting accessibility to informations, and wide spread of resources.

WHY NOT AN ICO?
We don't build coins. We build Markets. We don't look for money for future projects: we build the technology => we sell it. You know in advance what you invest for. Period.

CAN I MINE A BOT?
Of course! Ethereum miners are rewarded. If you find a block and a transaction happens inside ARK, so your wallet gets a CLAIMABLE BOT. Claimable BOT's are property of ARK operators, they are given for free, you pay only the administrative fee (around 0.1 ETH instead of full price 1ETH). Money are earnt by the CURRENT SELLER, depending on the step of the TRUSTLESS MULTIPLEXER. There will be only a limited amount of Claimable BOTs. (10% of total BOTs) If you don't claim a bot the next miner will claim it in your place. You can still claim yours later, assuming there are still any available.

WHAT ARE THE REAL FEATURES?

Coin listing
Modifying existing Coins
Tagging coins
Search by tag
Blackflagging system with approvation by members
Blackflag based filter system
Voting system for extreme censorship
Voting system for services prices
Collaborative market cycling 6 different services
BOT buy/sell system
Companies management
Complete billing system with:
Search bill by BOT
search bill by buyer wallet
Search bill by seller wallet
Search company by wallet
List companies
Mantain old companies informations for bills registered before the company changed name
Bounty system
Mining Bounty system
Advertising system (under coins)
Home advertising system (in home page with different costs and different multiplexer cycle)
Stats for everything
Basically extensible in its semantics (the future may be seriously different!)
Muting system for emergency (works only during startsale!)
Very Simple (neanderthal style) document system
Search low cost BOTS (client side! it would be too expensive for a smart contract)

ARE THERE ANY OTHER COLLABORATIVE MARKET?
We have a dream. We are working for it, stay tuned.

EDIT: FOR THE LAZY READER!

We built an open database for coins on ethereum
We transformed it into a new kind of DAO so the community can own it
This is not an [ICO] this is a [SSS] please read better the text if you want to know more
ARK smart contract will work EXACTLY LIKE AN ESCROW SERVICE during the start sale, no tricks:
wait for the launch, check the smart contract, and see for yourself!

A copy of ARK will be temporary available on ethereum TestNet starting 24h BEFORE
the launch on MainNet. All Bounty hunters will have access to test-ARK in order to audit the contract and start playing with it.
After 24h we will launch and they (and the possible incoming buyers)
will become the owners (and operators) of the MainNet ARK Platform.

The Expert suggests: Don't buy MORE than 50 BOTs.
The success of a Collaborative Market comes from the big number of owners.
If you are a whale so you prefer to buy few BOTs in 10000 different collaborative markets
rather than buying 10000 BOTs in the same one.
IF you buy all ARK at once (some people has the money to do it) you will be the only operator.
1000 operators talking about their service are better than 1 operator talking. Union makes force.
This is the meaning of Collaborative Markets.
Please buy a moderate number of BOTs!

General Discussion / Re: ripple rally
« on: December 16, 2014, 05:53:13 am »
I want to short ripple on the BTS platform ,please give me (us) this opportunity.
We have a powerful weapon in our hands lets start using it.
I suggest that every time some alt coin gets major attention and starts to move up hyperbolically (unsustainable price rise)  we will open a pair for that coin against BTS,
On one hand we will market this let say BitXRP asset to the rushing buying populous and on the other will be short this asset.
I think that this is a grate way to increase our market cap and personal holding exponentially by using others alt coins momentum (reminds me Bushidō lol) .
Do I the only one who think so or some of you share with me the same interest?

So long story short. The bridge to mass adoption is through the VOTE features of BitShares as just explained (IMO of course).
Though the Financial aspect of BitShares is nothing to discount either!!

Ding Ding Ding.  Someone gets it :)

Here is Max keiser saying exactly that "The bridge to mass adoption is through the VOTE features of block chain technology" in the second half of his show.
(see- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgcuDaPGdQ8)

At what minute does he say this?  I listened to it and all I heard was voting listed along with other benefits of blockchain technology as a disruptive technology.  The conversation was mostly about crowd funding.  I may have missed it though.

Yes you are right he is not saying that directly but it is what he mean aka decentralized distributed protocol that allow equity share ownership in a project with the ability to vote on different meters.

As I see it the main feature of a share is to vote (known as voting share) and to get dividends (known as common share) right now all the Bitshares are voting shares but only on one issue ,transaction verification or security.

You are confusing growth (in very early stages ) with volatility.
Do I?

I can buy 100bitUSD today and see them for 100USD in 10 years from now .. no growth .. no volatility .. (excluding the yield)
That's what people want to have ..

In contrast; I can buy BTS worth 100$ today and sell them for twice .. or maybe half the price next week .. WHO KNOWS?! .. that's (negative) "growth" .. volatility ..

Why to buy 100bitUSD in the first place if my plan is to hold them for 10 year and get back 100 USD ,I can just keep my 100 USD and I will get the same effect.
As I see it bitUSD have this functions:
-Short USD vs BTS aka sell bitUSD.
-Lock profits in BItUSD made from trading or selling things (merchants).
-Buying BItUSD to use them at places that accept bitusd .

By saying start using only crypto I meant move at least 80% of your net market cap into BTC/BTS/Bitusd/bitgold...  (if you think that crypto is the future and you have less then 50% in it then you are actually loosing when crypto go up in fiat terms).

It is not so right to say that bitusd some how less volatile it is just paged to usd, in order to reduce volatility you need to have at least 4 diffident assets for example:
25%bitusd
25%bitchy
25%bitgld
25%bts

You are confusing growth (in very early stages ) with volatility.

Hello my dear Bitshares tribe I would like to share with you my view about marketing.

Central bank all over the world are cooperate together in the grand scheme to devalue our currencies until the bond markets crush and everyone rush into US 30 years treasury bonds and USD  just in time for interest rate increase pushed by republicans that will take office by then  that will cause USA to default with over 18 trillion $ in dept.
Until then we all can enjoy almost 0% interest rates  "rising stock markets" and overnight crypto pump and dumps to feed our growing apatite for more BTS/BTC/...   holding for the time shit hits the fan and we all become milliners in worthless fiat currency.
If you think that it is worth waiting for that you are wrong.
Stop thinking about BTS/BTC/... as hedge/insurance, people won't understand you and won't "risk" much to do the same.
Start paying with crypto for everything stop using banks and credit cards (yes I know it is hard but it is possible if you use your imagination and community resources aka people) and let other people to see this.
We only have around 30000 people using BTS (this is ridicules if you think that we can bring any significant change and not fall into being a tool for the powers we try to resist )many of us have more the 100000 BTS , give away for free 1000 BTS to each one of your friends if you really a bitshres believer, the bast currency in the world is people you won't regret it.
The Chinese are buying because they smart (see http://btckan.com/price and http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitshares-x/#markets )
The Easterner's are buying because they fat and greedy sheep (see http://www.google.com/trends/explore#q=bitcoin&date=today%2012-m&cmpt=q )
One of the first slogans of Bitshares is "disrupting everything" I don't here that anymore ,why are you using standard marketing strategies?
Why the hell you need marketing anyway (to dump on newcomers and make some profit?) if you are so ideologically motivated just focus on developing the bast BTS client you can with the most functions and writing books about ...

The reason for not adding new markets at this time, such as indices, is not so much because of controversy but much more because current markets are so thin.

Further dilution at this time would be counterproductive.
What do you mean?

I mean there is very little trading in the existing four main assets now. Adding more would further fragment the existing pool of funds from people willing to hold assets. Getting in and out would be more difficult.
There is not much use for this 4 main assets right now and until the demand from other dacs/btsx developers/BTS ecosystem  for bitusd will come.
I really can't see how it will harm BTSX price or anything else.

It wont happen. Many people here will cite how it will upset regulators and cause negative publicity.

I don't recall hearing objections to this, but it will certainly happen.

Either in BTSX once we have sufficient cap/depth, or in a 3rd party clone.

Weeks ago I suggested something similar to this and someone freaked out about the SEC and the risk.

I hope we can do it ASAP though. We need at least one stock index to trade. If we want to lower the risk then pick something from a country other than the USA since a lot of US delegates seem to be freaking out. Go with the London stock exchange instead.

Hmmm. Now that you mention it, maybe it would be to our advantage to select only delegates from "safe" countries. I'm really glad we got into discussing this Luckybit (in the cannabis thread), it's really opening me up to the massive potential of BTSX. If we don't issue in-demand but controversial assets, I'm willing to bet someone will fork the exchange and do it with or without us.

I understand the benefits of publicly known delegates but it seem that the citizens of the Internet and crypto users in particular value anonymity and transparency much more ,so the idea of anonymous delegates comes to mind...

General Discussion / Re: Why we are not creating bit/crypto assets?
« on: October 21, 2014, 02:28:11 am »
Yes but keep in mind that the crypto capital is the most liquid/fast/profit oriented capital in the world and all the pump&dumps is a clear proof for that, there is no reason not to give the crypto users a grate tool for maximizing safely and more efficiently there trading options.

As far as I know BTSX is the only one functioning tool in the crypto world that allows you to short other real/crypto world assets so why delegate don't make price feeds for all the coins out there?

I think that it will be grate for marketing BTSX to all the crypto traders out there (probably more then 50% of the actual users in this point in time...)

In our financial markets today the derivative markets on the actual markets are at least 10 times bigger ,BTSX market cap in it full potential should be around 10 times more the all cryptos market cap combined.

General Discussion / Re: Cannabiscoin pegging 1 gram to 1 coin
« on: October 21, 2014, 01:49:40 am »
I think it will be best if we create bitCannabiscoin on BTSX that will be paged to Cannabiscoin this way we will make a derivative market on the Cannabiscoin pegging 1 gram to 1 coin promise and will let people speculate on it's future  value , this way we will offer a valuable service for Cannabiscoin community (opening shorts) and in the same time will increase our users base and BTSX value as a  hole.

General Discussion / What is the master plan for BTS?
« on: October 20, 2014, 10:43:53 pm »
From what I understand it looks like this.(please correct me if I am wrong)

Create BTS ,a master/mother DAC with a new DPOS blockchain and UI client.(with a fair allocation of Bitshares to BTSX/AGS/PTS holders )

Integrate all other existing and future sister DACs into it(BTSX,DNS,VOTE and Music), using BTS DPOS for all sister DACs transaction generation with cross chain transaction implementation for bit-assets.

All this to create much more healthy environment for developers and bit/fiat assets markets (the main currency in this network will be bitusd I suppose)
