Hey Bitshares forum members!

Is there something wrong with my question? Is it unclear? I am trying to do cool (opensource) stuff with BitShares for the community to profit! If there is no one willing to help me by answering simple questions, developers will never come to build upon the bitshares platform.

I think there are a lot of questions unanswered on the bitshares forum, it would be great if we took a little bit of time to help each other out.

Thanks for your reply mdj,
but I am more interested in which program I should download?
The mac-gui, the linux command line or do I have to build bitshares myself?
Thanks

General Discussion / Re: Metaexchange - BTC/bitUSD or bitUSD/BTC?
« on: April 08, 2015, 04:20:25 pm »
I think all the flipping creates lotes of confusion. Why don't you rethink the whole, and remove the buying and selling. If I want to exchange btc to bitUSD, I want to see how much bitUSD i get for one BTC.
Now I have to find the right pair, not just by searching for btc but also for bitUSD because most people won't remember the order. And then I get a second question, do I want to buy or sell? I don't know, I just know that I want to exchange btc for bitUSD.

TD;LR: Stop thinking in flipping, buying and selling and start thinking in exchanging a to b!

Its a typical rails error page. Probably Some bad commit or wrong value in the database. This is not a normal way to put your site offline :)

General Discussion / This downprice is a test
« on: March 24, 2015, 08:25:50 pm »
Hey everyone,
Of course the current downwards price is not nice. But lets see it as a test. This Bitcoin price has moved up and down a lot more. And although I throughly believe in the power of the BitAssets. Seeing if the concept is really stable, should be tested in rough conditions. This is the best way to learn about the power and the weaknesses of the BitShares concept.

We should see these times as a test and in the meantime: keep your eyes open for opportunities and risks.

What do you think?

Hey Monsterer,
Today I started implementing your api. Is there a rule for the directions your markets are in? alphabetical or something. Otherwise I have to store this information somewhere.
Is there a reason market information isn't to ways?
Thanks

This is a great idea, but i think we Should do this without the bitshares development team. It Shouldnt go via the bitshares protocol, fork the client and See how it moves from there

Love it!! I also would like to see the transaction-history to be flipped with the open orders. :)

Thanks that helps a lot, maybe good to put something like that into your documentation as well

Great to hear from you, I get that some extra information that you probably will need is useful, but I would like to know how much btc I get for my bts when I use the service.
ask_fee_percent, bid_fee_percent, asset_name, realised_spread_percent, price_delta

Now I have to think is this considers to be an ask of a bid action?
Then do something like ask*(1-ask_fee_percentage) is this my final rate?
Or do I have to do I have to do something with realised_spread_percentage and price_delta.
Maybe you documented it somewhere, but there is a good chance that the developers who implement your Api, make an mistake implementing it. And it would be nice if a developer wouldn't been forts to learn all you application logic.

It just feels confusing and I think Apis shouldn't me confusing.

And I understand that you are not going to change your api tomorrow, but I just want you to know how I felt implementing it, and that the hassle could slow down adoption of your Api.
