Don't restore from backup.

Create a new wallet, import the private keys of your lifetime account.

Won't those wallets still have the same seed?  Or will it have a unique seed?

Doesn;t work. Up to date guide needed or an actual dev to offer support. This is a major issue and needs to be addressed.

It worked for me.

You can download it from.github or clone the webpage .. no need to be online for it

http://paperwallet.bitshares.eu/ seems to be calling bootstrap, jquery, and font-awesome js/css remotely.

If those are moved locally is there anything else you can see that would have to be moved locally to get http://paperwallet.bitshares.eu/ to generate keys on a cold computer?

Technical Support / Re: List of Bitshares2-light Terminal Commands?
« on: June 10, 2017, 11:46:41 am »
You can install a python3 tool called 'uptick' that can do that for you (http://uptick.rocks)

If you only need keys, you can also use.   paperwallet.bitshares.eu

Thanks Xeroc.   Is it possible to get  paperwallet.bitshares.eu to work offline?  So far the only one I've got to work offline generating key pairs is your Jshares wallet.

Loved your paper wallet by the way... Is there any reason not to use Jshares wallet to generate public/private keys offline?

Technical Support / List of Bitshares2-light Terminal Commands?
« on: June 10, 2017, 10:01:32 am »
Where can I find a list of available commands?

Is there a terminal command that would generate a public/private key?  If so, can it be run offline?

this may help

As near as I can tell that paperwallet has to be online to generate the keys.  Is there a way to generate them offline?

I'm recommending creating new disposable accounts in the bitshares GUI, then pinching the keys created by the Bitshares software for those new accounts.

I imagine "pinching" means deleting the permissions on the accounts.  If so, I'd need to add some public keys generated offline somehow first.

How's the best way to generate those public/private keys right now, offline?  Is it possible to generate them with on offline version of Bitshares?

http://docs.bitshares.eu/bitshares/user/security-cold.html

... is recommended this cold wallet key generater here...

https://github.com/xeroc/jshares/archive/master.zip

My question is has it been vetted?

Does it generate enough entropy?

Technical Support / How Do I Import A Private Key?

I'm seeing in the "permissions" tab the ability to add accounts or pubic keys.  But where/how do I add a private key to an account?

You would need to generate new keys (from a new seed) using the command line interface since the GUI doesn't expose that feature yet. Then you could change the keys of your accounts to those new keys. Or you could create a new wallet with a throw away account, and reuse the keys of that account for one of your sub accounts. Each new wallet you create has a new brain key.

If I do this import the keys like this, would a brain key backup still be valid then?

Where can I find the available commands and syntax for the command line?

I would like a premium name.  However, if a lifetime member registers it for me, it looks like it shares the same seed as that lifetime members wallet.

Is it possible to register a premium name with it's own unique seed?

Perhaps I'm missing something really simple, but I can't find anywhere how to get authority approvals for a transaction on a weighted account?

I have account_1 with a 2 weight.  I've added 2 accounts to it, both with a weight of 1, trying to get a 2 of 2 multi-sig.  So far so good.

Now, how do I actually send from account_1, with authority approvals?

UPDATE:
Figured it out.

I believe accounts can't hold wallets.  Wallets hold accounts.

The wallet name I believe is local, not on the blockchain.  The account name is what shows on the blockchain & what you send to.  I believe you could import the wallet & give it any name you wanted, with different names on different computers (please correct me if I'm wrong devs).   But the account names that wallet holds will always stay the same.

When you import a wallet, you import all the accounts that wallet holds.  After importing I believe you need to switch to that wallet, and then switch the to the account in question to see your balance.

I have a lifetime account.  Every wallet I create using it has the same seed.

Is it possible to create a wallet with a unique seed, different then the seed of the  lifetime account it's created with?  Faucets would have to do that?  Right?   How are faucets doing it?

I believe this is because you need to set the wallet to the wallet holding the account.  Or you need to import the wallet.

Go to setting -> wallet ->  active wallet -> (choose the wallet) -> (activate button)

I notice that I'll now see 2 wallets in a dropdown in the upper right corner.

Click on it, choose the wallet with the account in it.  That wallet should now be active, and you should be able to send as expected.

Caveat... I'm still trying to figure out the wallet/account features too.
