Thanks a lot!

Is there a deadline for this, or will I be able to claim by BTSX after BitShares X is released (or has it been released already?).

I am confused. As far as I understand, the BTSX I can claim now is just some kind of pre-release demo BTSX. If I claim it, will my shares be transferred to the real one? If I don't claim it, will I be able to claim the real one based on the PTS I had at the first snapshot?

General Discussion / Please help! I had PTS on 28 Feb. What do I do now?
« on: August 22, 2014, 07:41:41 am »
Hi,

I had PTS on 28th Feb.

I haven't been following BitShares since then. People are talking about another snapshot, maybe originally mentioned in some random forum post somewhere.

So what do I do in order to not lose my money? How do I claim my BTSX?

Also, is there a place where I can see the most up-to-date info about things? 99.99% of forum posts are unstructured and outdated.

Thanks!

General Discussion / Re: Clarifications about BTS X plan

I did have some PTS on Feb 28.

  • Where are we exactly on the snapshot graph? Has BitShares X already come out, or only BitShares XT?
  • Something appears as BTSX on BTER. Is that really BitShares X or is it BitShares XT? [corrected a typo]
  • Do I need to claim my BitShares XT in order to possess BitShares X, or can I just wait?

A very important aspect of the crypto-revolution is that it eliminates the need to exchange physical objects. Isn't this proposal just going in the opposite direction (namely backwards)?

Sending out safe hardware crypto-wallets, that would be a different thing! Actually there are pretty good open-source ones. What do you think?

This is a promising proposal, but I think it would work better if they sent floppy disks via pigeon post.

BitShares PTS / Re: Price
« on: March 07, 2014, 08:07:30 am »
Is this still a price discussion?  :P

I think the price of PTS will go up in the feature, or maybe down. It is also possible that it will stay.

It is taken.

Find a typo, a glitch, or some other cosmetic bug with invictus.io, submit a pull request and get paid.  If you don't know how to use github, then post in this thread and split the bounty with someone who can manage github.

You keep writing effect instead of affect. I am too lazy to look through the website.

If we renamed BitUSD to BitCENT (with everything else unchanged, just the name), would it start tracking the price of a cent instead?
If anything works at all, then yes.

I am not sure if your answer is sarcastic or not. Do you really think it only depends on the name and nothing else?

If you created a BitAsset called BitAOEUI, what would it track?

Try to answer this question: Is there any difference between a $1 bill and a $100 bill besides the number written on it?

Okay. I could also issue my own type of bills. Let's assume it's a special kind of paper that nobody can copy. How is BitUSD different from that? What is the difference that lets BitUSD track its nominal price?

You should read the whitepaper, the whole value proposition of BTS X is having assets that track other assets.
Sure. I will.

But I'll make sure to sell my PTS first.

Why don't you just create a tradable asset called ProtoBitUSD and promise that you will give 1 BitUSD for each ProtoBitUSD?  :) We would then at least see the price of ProtoBitUSD.

Lol.. because I cannot make that promise :)
Maybe you don't even need to make a promise. The fact that the name ProtoBitUSD contains the string BitUSD is more than enough for it to track the price, isn't it?

Okay, this was obviously a joke. But I really don't get the concept of BitUSD. If we renamed BitUSD to BitCENT (with everything else unchanged, just the name), would it start tracking the price of a cent instead?

P2P mining should be a standard.
