General Discussion / How to import electrum wallet
« on: September 08, 2014, 10:20:44 pm »
Hey everyone. I was wondering how to import my electrum wallet into the btsx client. I exported my priv keys and pointed the client at that but it didn't work. Not sure exactly where my wallet.dat is for electrum.

Anyone see this? Bitshares mentioned a few paragraphs in, right under the first big quotes.

Quote
A few organizations are currently working to develop such decentralized, trustless voting applications. One of these groups is Follow My Vote, a first wave organization in a set of many that will present decentralized, blockchain-based voting solutions over the next few decades.

I recently had a chance to speak with CEO and founder of Follow My Vote, Adam Ernest, and he discussed his organization’s efforts and how the software will function.

“What’s really most important in any election is who counts the votes,” he said. “In other words, those who control the ballot box, meaning the person or persons counting the votes within the ballot box and reporting the vote totals of an election, are really the ones who control the outcome; whatever they say it is, it is.”

“The only way you can truly be assured that the reported results of an election are accurate is if you actually have the opportunity to audit the ballot box and count the votes yourself. It comes down to the honesty, transparency, and trust that our system provides, which the existing voting systems can’t offer. That’s the real benefit of decentralized voting applications.”
Follow My Vote is building their decentralized and anonymous voting platform in the form of a Distributed Autonomous Corporation (DAC) that runs on the BitShares platform.

All votes are recorded into the publicly verifiable transaction ledger and every participant can track their vote and see that it was applied correctly. Votes are verified for authenticity by a group of delegates prior to being recorded in the block chain.

General Discussion / How to protect AGS
« on: July 03, 2014, 09:12:37 pm »
So it seems to me that as the space kicks off it will be exceedingly simple to have your AGS compromised. As soon as a private key is compromised it becomes a race to claim the equity every time an airdrop happens. There is a huge incentive to try and compromise AGS addresses. I think that this will probably take the form of non savvy users being enticed into "claiming" shares from fraudulent DACS.

I don't have any answers, just seemed like something that needs to be discussed.

Hey everyone. I'm looking for any technical info on TITAN that exists. A white paper would be awesome. So far I have found this.

Hey everyone. Mac user/keyhotee founder here. Just wondering what the stats of the OSX client is. Would love to be able to register my founders ID. Last I heard I believe Toast was working on this but I'm not sure.

In one of the recent Lets Talk Bitcoin podcasts....

http://letstalkbitcoin.com/e71-blockchain-tools-and-litecoin-devs/#.Usc5P2RDuPA

Charlie Lee mentions someone who is starting a payment processor for people who want to stay entirely in crypto, but why use a company when you can use a protocol. This has got to be possible with DAC. Could the idea's in Keyhotee and Bitshares be leveraged to do something like this.

1. Allows Merchants to accept a wide variety of crypto's and crypo assets.
2. Converts them into bitcoin (or currency of choice).
3. Sends bitcoin to merchants wallet.

General Discussion / Best system to run Keyhotee on?
« on: December 29, 2013, 10:25:53 am »
So I think I'm going to try to use Keyhotee, Bitshares, ect., on a computer I will set aside for only this purpose. I want to be anon, secure, and hopefully a tablet. I'm not the most techy type and any tips would be greatly appreciated.

In terms of both hardware and software what is the most secure system I can set up? I'm a slightly above average user. I mostly just use p2p software and surf the web. I don't code but I'm looking to learn. How can I minimize risks of backdoors in both my hardware and software? What is the best way to stay anon?

I was thinking of running ubuntu on a microsoft surface pro, then using vmware and for a bonus backtrack 5r3.

Can I get some feedback.

Keyhotee / Better pick up the pace, we got competition.
« on: December 14, 2013, 08:05:31 am »

http://arstechnica.com/security/2013/12/microsoft-joins-fido-group-hoping-to-replace-passwords-with-public-key-cryptography/

"FIDO hopes to replace passwords with a system built around public key cryptography. To register with a FIDO site, you won't enter a password into the site. Instead, hitting register will alert your authentication devices—typically an app on your smartphone—of the attempt to register."

"Applications could already use similar techniques for authentication today, but developers would have to create all the components and communications protocols themselves."

General Discussion / We could all teach something.
« on: December 13, 2013, 12:37:19 am »
Ok, let me take a crack at this,

What if we had a DAC that allowed people to offer to teach, online and/or in their community, and provided easy ways to crowd fund classes and maintain reputations (maybe through keyhotee). I'm talking anything from a college professor deciding to ditch the antiquated education system and go lecture to a crowd indie style, to a guitar teacher doing one on one lessons to make some cash. Really if anyone is deemed proficient in something by the community they could offer to pass on their skills either for free or for profit. Basically a way for people to opt out of the current system where you need to first be admitted, and you are told what to learn, then get certain certificates. Sounds like the most straight forward and logical way to spread knowledge and reeducate the workforce during times of structural unemployment. Also a great way for people to make extra money while creating value for everyone. In the end we all benefit from a well educated society, and removing the barriers to that are a good thing. Also if you can develop a skill that people find valuable, and you can convey that skill in a way that creates value for society, you can now be back in the workforce, but maybe more of a grass root's, decentralized workforce.
