DAC PLAY / Creating a charity with Bitshares for Cat Shelter
« on: August 22, 2014, 03:18:19 am »
I've been helping my mother rescue cats since I was a child, for 22 years. And presently I've been working on helping her raise donations online.

Would it be possible to create an DAC, or asset an issue shares to create funding?

What other ways could I utilize BitShares to help fund the cat rescue?

Thanks!

Technical Support / Bitshares X 0.4.5 available
« on: August 21, 2014, 11:46:33 pm »
Anyone having difficulty with 0.4.5 should install the new 0.4.5 You can download it at:

http://bitshares-x.info/about.php

If you get the error crashrpt 1402.dll is missing, then you can download that file at:

https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/raw/master/CrashRpt/bin/CrashRpt1402.dll

In order for me to get a successful syncing to start, I MADE A BACKUP BY EXPORTING MY WALLET TO MY DESKTOP FROM THE MY WALLET SOFTWARE. Then I uninstalled the software, version 0.4.4 for me might be older for you, and then I deleted the BitShares X folder in C:\Users\Me\AppData\Roaming\BitShares X (I also made a backup of the folder on the desktop, just in case there was an issue)

I then installed the 0.4.5 software, opened it, accepted the agreement, It will take you to the create a new wallet section, I clicked on File, Import wallet and imported the JSON backup from my desktop. The software asks for the password for the wallet that's being restored. I think it also makes a backup of the current wallet, I dont really know.

So now I have my wallet imported and I am syncing back from the start, the reason I did this is because when I first installed 0.4.5 I was getting stuck with the syncing, I don't know if this was because of the fork that someone mentioned in a thread today, or perhaps just a bug with the software, or MOST LIKELY just was my ineptitude and incompetence. LOL. I hope this works, it will take awhile for the wallet to be completely synced up. I'll report back, and hopefully this thread might help someone that was having issues like me. But I imagine most of you are much better with this stuff than me.

Thanks!

Technical Support / Questions about BitShares X wallet
« on: August 21, 2014, 08:20:49 pm »
Could anyone explain the Delegates portion of the BTSX wallet? I understand delegates are like seed nodes or something. But I don't understand what they do, how they are chosen and anything else about them. So my questions are:

1. What is the exact function of a Delegate? Does a Delegate receive any compensation?

2. How are Delegates chosen and why that certain account?

3. What is this Toggle Approval button on my wallet do for delegates?

4. Why is my wallet showing that less than 60% of delegates are participating? If this causes network forks, then should we be choosing other delegates?

Technical Support / Question about BitShares X wallet
« on: August 20, 2014, 12:56:43 am »
Hello BTS friends. Today I installed the BitShares X wallet and registered my account, I also funded my account with several thousand BTSX.

My question is, in the wallet on the My Accounts tab, there is a tab for Assets. Does anyone have any experience creating assets? Can you tell me more, and is there any topics about this?

Thanks!

BitShares PTS / Question about PTS snapshot on 8/21
« on: August 19, 2014, 11:32:39 pm »
Hello, I am very .new to this forum. And I have a question about the PTS snapshot on 8/21.

I have some PTS in a wallet, and I wanted to know what will happen with this snapshot deal? Will I recieve something? What will I be credited with? I understand that by owning PTS that 10% of future DAC will be creditited to PTS owners, but how will we recieve this? I'm just very confused on what is happening, and WHAT I NEED to do.

Any help is greatly appreciated! If you feel like directing me to some wiki page or something, then don't bother. I need detailed information, and I just cant get much from those pages. Thanks.

Technical Support / Introduction and Question
« on: August 12, 2014, 07:50:50 pm »
Hello, I am brand new to BitShares, but I have been active in BTC and other crypto since February of this year. I am really interested in Bitshares, but I just can't understand the difference between AGS, PTS, and BitShares X. I can see from my reading that the best way to get invested is to purchase BitShares X and use those shares to buy into DAC's.

But I don't really understand how AGS and PTS works? I know PTS can be bought and mined right now, but I don't really understand what you are getting by owning PTS. And AGS has me really confused. So my questions are outlined below.

1. What does owning PTS get you? And what makes PTS different from BitShares X?

2. How does AGS get me involved into BitShares, and is it to late to invest into AGS?

3. Why does BitShares X not have a Linux wallet?
