I'm trying to get BitShares listed on http://www.exchangewar.info but need some technical assistance for the admin there.

"I was looking into the API and it's confusing:
http://docs.bitshares.org/api/
For example, to get all assets, I'd use get_assets, but it's limited to 100 assets. Is there an easy way to get all the tickers for all assets with just one call?"

General Discussion / Simple Bot integration to GUI
« on: March 26, 2017, 06:00:09 pm »
It is not a secret that bots are required to provide increasing liquidity on the dex.
I believe it would be a huge benefit if the average joe would be able to use a bot through the main GUI.

I for example do not trade actively on the DEX, just because I am not a daytrader and it costs too much time to hunt for profit. But I have some money that I could use to provide liquidity if there was an easy way to program a bot through the GUI.

I do not trust external bots and do not want to rely on them.
If the GUI must be active in order to run the bot would be no problem for me.

What would be needed to get this feature integrated in the GUI?
Thoughts...

Does that help https://github.com/xeroc/stakemachine ?

General Discussion / idea WBA - Work Backed Asset
« on: March 15, 2016, 09:22:45 am »
What do you think about a WBA - Work Backed Asset (not sure if that's the best name).
Imagine every organization that needs computing power could use a BitAsset instead its own chain/network.

Create WBA -> define pay rate etc. -> set task/source
Users could choose which project they like to support with their own computing resources by just selecting it.
This would attract many organizations that need computing power but are not willing/able to develop/maintain their own alt-coin chain.
And people had a one-stop shop to select between dozen of WBA's to earn from.

field of application
* health care sector
* astronomy

Technical Support / multiple questions, asked on slack
« on: March 07, 2016, 06:14:55 pm »
recently questions asked on slack.
please answer accordingly and add them to the docs if useful.

1. MARKET FEES - A
Assuming fees are activated, does the issuer pays fees every time he/she issues/transfers a quantity of the asset to another party, or only if trading the UIA on the open market?

2. MARKET FEES - B
There was reference to a “fee pool” apparently designated in the new UIA rather than BTS. Given that the idea of Market Fees is for the issuer to be able to generate profits from his or her UIA, I assume that the Issuer being able to pay the fees he/she sets from their own UIA, mitigates against the costs of having to buy BTS with cash or use existing BTS holdings that were acquired with cash (even if indirectly). However, if the market fees can be paid by the recipients using the same UIA, unless there is a provision for the Issuer to convert ONLY the received UIA designated fees to BTS, then the Issuer isn’t really generating “immediate FIAT LIQUIDATABLE profit”. Am I missing something here?

3. CHANGE OF ISSUER
Assets FAQ seems to say that the “Issuer” can be changed after creation of the asset. Does this mean you can change the Issuer name to a completely new Issuer name, or just that if you have multiple wallets in your account with different names, you can change the issuer to be any one of the others (perhaps via a drop-down menu)? Secondly, can it be repeatedly changed or only one time?

4. CORE EXCHANGE RATE
It seems that this is automatically set in relation to BTS. However, I would prefer to have the core exchange rate tied to USD, because 99% of the persons I will be issuing my UIA to, are cryptovirgins, so to speak, and having to wrap their heads around a second digital currency (BTS), in order to get a clear sense of the set “exchange value” of my UIA, is undesirable. I do know I could promote a UIA/USD exchange rate/value in my one-on-one communications with the recipients, but it would be nice to be able to choose what currency (digital or FIAT) the exchange rate is tied to. I also know I can create a UIA “pegged” to USD but I do not want that type of “Market Pegged Asset”

5. ISSUER TRANSFER APPROVAL
If permissions is set ON requiring the issuer to approve all transfers, does this includes transfers effected via open market trading activity? I highly doubt it but I prefer to be 100% certain rather than 99%. Obviously, such approval is fine in the early life of a UIA, but becomes rather impractical at scale I would think.

6.  TRANSFER RESTRICTED
Does this mean that a the issuer must be a third party facilitator in every transaction, receiving the funds from party A as being one separate completed transfer transaction, then forwarding them on to party B as a second separate transfer transaction? Or does it mean that a single transaction would be recorded as having three parties, A, B and Issuer in the middle? What kind of situation would make either of these a highly desirable way to operate?

7. GLOBAL SETTLING
I’m a bit foggy on this - is this about enforcing either a MINIMUM or a SPECIFIC exchange rate for any given trade between two parties trading in the issuer’s UIA?

8. CONFIDENTIAL TRANSACTIONS
Is there any serious downside to allowing confidential transactions (which I assume is this “stealth” feature I’ve read somewhere)?

9. Bonus question  :D
Since Bitshares the company also has to comply with government regulations I presume, does the system configuration at the highest level allow Bitshares itself to “Transfer any UIA back to Bitshares of Freeze or Delete any UIA (since it is Bitshares’ “system” that really GENERATED/CREATED each UIA and the “system” is a “higher authority”, than the lowly “user” who initiated the generation/creation of the UIA on the system)?

General Discussion / what`s Compumatrix/COMPUCEEDS?
« on: March 01, 2016, 10:32:20 pm »
If someone can provide deeper knowledge about Compumatrix please share.
http://cryptofresh.com/a/COMPUCEEDS

Discuss if this is a legit project or something like a get rich quick scheme.
Since they didn`t approached the community yet we should start to investigate research to decide if it is something to promote or to stay away from.

Meta / Remove Partners Sections from Home
« on: February 28, 2016, 01:51:38 pm »
Please rename the Partners section to something like "Third Party Projects" and make it a main Sub under BitShares.

It is not reasonable to promote third party projects at a prominent place, especially if they are inactive, have slow progress or are just shady.

OpenLedger / ccedk, OpenLedger, Bitteaser, Daydream Consult ?
« on: February 21, 2016, 11:43:23 am »
@ccedk

Would you mind to sched some light on your business infrastructure?
CCEDK is registered at:
Tyttebærvej 6, Hune, DK-9492 Blokhus Denmark
Bitteaser says on its investors page it is located at the same address and Daydream Consult too.

Who is behind Bitteaser? Who is admin and who is admin2?
Why is BitTeaser not a registered Company?
Who is Edward Reidhead aka. Edward Freeman and how are you related to him?
What is Daydream Consult?
Do you all live/work in the same $150k single-family 125 m² house with 4 rooms, one kitchen, one bathroom and two toilets?
Is this your house or are you guys just working there?
How many people are working permanently for CCEDK or are there only contract based workers?

I`m looking for a dev that can accomplish at least Level 1 as seen below.
I think you only need basic HTML/JS skills.
Xeroc already laid a wonderful foundation by creating his node-graphene-monitor.
Goal is reached when I am able to show Level 1 transactions on my website.

Level 1
  • Display last X MEMO messages "randomly"
  • Transaction-date not older X day/hour/min/sec
  • Accountname X
  • MEMO length min X max Y characters
  • Transaction-amount min X [Currency]
  • If no Transaction meets criteria display default Banner.png
Code requirement
  • Create a fork of Xeroc`s code https://github.com/xeroc/node-graphene-monitor
  • Plain HTML file that displays MEMO text based on filters above.
  • Only HTML and JS files/code
  • Only a browser is needed (not a local CLI/Client)
  • Only Memo Key and Account Name is needed (no user/pass)
  • All files are in the same root directory
  • Minimum needed files
  • No file is larger than 256KB
  • Code is documented in file
  • Readme howto.md is included
  • Code is open source
  • Optimum would be a single HTML file and one or two JS files.

Level 2
  • Interpreter for Banner image link in MEMO
  • If API source 1 is down try next API source else display default Banner.png

Level 3
  • White/Blacklist of accounts and memo words

Level 5
Create BitShares Ad Provider platform
  • brings advertisers and publisher together
  • filters Ad Campaigns
  • earns a fraction of the fees
I think this is a really low hanging fruit and we could fund many things with payed Ads.
Ads could be embedded in the wallet and on every BitShares blog and so on.
If this works out well services like https://bitteaser.com/ could join our chain or the community can create their own Advertising platform.

If you think you can create Level 1 please post here.

General Discussion / can we have a notifcation service
« on: January 17, 2016, 03:28:46 pm »
Would be great if someone could setup a notification service.
Guess that`s also a business opportunity and should be not too complicated to setup.

Register Account`s to notify on send/receive transactions
mail, sms, telegram or whatever.

Free: receive notify once a day
$0.99/month: receive instant notifications
