Technical Support / No Audio with "Newbie Video Tutorials"
« on: June 12, 2015, 11:32:35 pm »
Hello,

I initially started this thread in the Newbie/Video Tutorial section.

After doing some further testing and investigation, I thought it should perhaps be placed (I copy/pasted it) into the Technical Support Forum to notify the Moderators of the problem I've been experiencing as it does not appear to be 'on my end'. (I apologize if it turns it to be on my end, but after doing some testing I'm fairly certain that it is not.)

Please refer to below copy/pasted thread from the Newbie/Video Tutorial forum.

Thank you.

UPDATE:

There is almost certainly something wrong with the Video Tutorials themselves with regards to audio.

I took the embedded YouTube links from several of the Video Tutorials themselves and went directly to YouTube to watch (and hopefully hear) the videos as they are directly from the YouTube website...

Result: No audio. Video plays beautifully, but there is no audio to be heard. If I click around on YouTube to watch other random videos, I have no problems, - audio is heard loud and clear.

(I'm a newbie here still trying to get comfortable and knowledgeable on the ins-and-outs of this forum, but I'll try to notify the forum's Technical Support and/or Moderators of my experiences.)

Hi guys,

Okay, what numb-nut newbie oversight might I be making here - I have no audio coming through with any of the videos I've tried to watch so far (5 videos so far with no audio coming through).

I've checked everything I can think of on my end, volume level settings, sound system is powered ON (duh), etc. and all is good.
I have no problem hearing audio through my system when I play a Youtube video, music through my Winamp player, etc. I'm just not getting any audio coming through with these Video Tutorials.

Can anyone offer any suggestions of what else I should check?

Thanks for your help.

Technical Support / BTS vs. Other "Decentralized Asset Exchanges"
« on: June 05, 2015, 04:06:39 pm »
Hello,

I've been researching and bringing myself up to speed on the BitShares concepts/platform, etc.

Can anyone tell me or point me to any information that provides a simple, succinct comparison that will help me understand the differences between the BitShares DAC exchange and these other "Distributed/Decentralized Crypto-Asset Exchanges"?

Along the same lines, can anyone explain or point me to any straightforward and succinct documentation/information regarding:

a) When someone purchases "bitshares" (not BitAssets, but the bitshares used to purchase the BitAssets) with their BTC on one of the BTC exchanges, where do the BTCs go? Whose pockets do the BTCs end up in?

b) Is there a cap on the number of bitshares that will/can be generated? i.e. Does the share dilution ever decline or just increase indefinitely?

I've been reading and watching a lot of information about BitShares, I apologize if I've missed (or not understood) the answers to my questions while going through all the info I've gone through so far.

I thought perhaps just asking these questions pointblank on the BitShares forum might get me to some answers more efficiently and quickly.

Thanks in advance for your help and clarifications.

Technical Support / Changing/Resetting BTS Wallet/Client Password
« on: June 04, 2015, 02:15:02 am »
Hello,

I'm just starting to get on-board with BitShares and I would like to reset my BTS Client password (for security/confidence sake), but the File/Change-Password menu option is grayed out and not selectable.

I went so far as to uninstall and reinstall the BTS Client hoping it would give me the option to recreate my wallet/password, but after re-installing the BTS Client (as I feared), it simply reverted back to the previous account/credentials.

I registered my BTS account, hoping perhaps I might then be provided an un-grayed-out change-password menu option I could use, but it's still grayed-out and not selectable.

? Is the change-password file-menu option grayed-out for everyone, i.e. this just how it is for whatever reason for the time being?

? Am I overlooking or missing something?

Thanks in advance for anyone's clarification on this.

Random Discussion / Change/Reset BTS Client Password

I went ahead anyway and registered my BTS account, hoping perhaps I might then be provided an un-grayed-out change-password menu option I could use, but it was still grayed-out and not selectable.

What am I overlooking?

Thanks in advance for anyone's comments with help on this.
