General Discussion / Integrate Hardware Wallet into the Bitshares DEX??
« on: February 03, 2017, 08:02:35 pm »
Bitshares DEX has virtue only as long as you are holding/trading BTS and other BTS based tokens. For literally any other asset or crypto currency the DEX is exactly like a normal exchange, but does not have good trading volume. I don't know much about integration, but would it be possible to use the features shown in say a Nano Ledge S and integrate them into the Bitshares asset exchange?

Here is how I see it. The leader nano s is simply a chrome extension interface. If we build the DEX as a chrome extension maybe we could integrate the two together? Then you really would control all your privet keys for bitcoin, ETH, ETC, DASH as you trade on the Bitshares DEX.

Possible?

General Discussion / Construction Project Exchange?
« on: October 05, 2016, 02:32:46 am »
Another idea to throw at the community:

I am in the construction industry, specifically roofing, and I can't help but apply the wonderful world of crypto to my daily life.

1) Insurance claims registered on blockchain, payments issued on the blockchain, deductibles recorded on the blockchain. Contractor bids on the blockchain, all escrowed and open to all three parties with contracts digitally signed and on the blockchain! Both homeower and contractor reputations available on the blockchain.
Cuts fraud, addresses third party payer problem in homeowners insurance (very much like health insurance), long term lower premiums, better accountability for contractors and homeowners.
This would not have to be fully open and transparent, you would need account permission to see certain items.

2) it has occurred to me time and time again that really the only difference between me giving a customer a bid and placing a bid on Openledger is that on Openledger despite its liquidity problems there are many hundreds of "askers" and I compete with many hundreds of bidders. With a construction project bid the average homeowner might get four or five bids, but usually does not have time or knowledge to asses them. Enter the blockchain and bitshares?

I am thinking a much more complicated and in depth exchange that helps connect people of literally any profession with those who need that profession. In my industry people often get measurements from insurance or satellite, by posting these measurements, pictures and description of work to be done contractors can use a filter system to find just the right projects they want to bid for. Customers can filter the numbers of bids by certain criteria and then once they have it narrowed down request in person talks. This would help with the reputation issues that contractors have as the reviews would all be online and on the blockchain and contractors could even rate customers too! Having been in this industry for just under two years I see all its flaws as an outsider still and see this platform and crypto as a way out!!

Thought?

General Discussion / Synereo

Thoughts on this project? Both as a speculative asset, as a technology and the people behind it?

I am still developing by technical understanding of all things blockchain, but the project seems solid to me. I like that it is developing an example dapp at the inception. I like what they say about governance of smart contracts, that they recognize people are sometimes essential to contracts and a "code is law" system may not be practical. It is an open system like Etherem, but *claims* to have solved scaling issues as the first social network should exemplify.

Thoughts?

General Discussion / Blockchain Digital Content Distribution?
« on: September 14, 2016, 01:18:31 am »
Services like itunes, Audible, Amazon Kindle, Amazon Video, Steam and other digital content providers have you "buy" the audio book, movie, game or song, but you must use their network to access it. You usually can't trade it, give it away or even lend it.

What do you think of a blockchain based DAC which allows a more tradition role for digital content ownership? One which we would truly own what we buy, as opposed to long term leasing. Would there be enough demand for it?

General Discussion / Bitteaser and HubDPS potential?
« on: September 07, 2016, 08:47:45 pm »
What do people think is the potential of the bit teaser project? Currently the market seems to have little confidence in it. Myself I like the idea, but have little technical knowledge to properly evaluate it. I have already put money down on the project and double down when price fell. It has a tiny market cap and if the project has a slimmer of a chance of making it I will gladly double down again, but I would like the honest opinion of my fellow bitshares ppl.

What is a realistic goal or expectation of this project say in two years?

Any ideas, thoughts or opinions welcome.

Also, is HubDPS a separate token that I need to invest in seperatly.

General Discussion / Open Ledger Wallet Security
« on: August 08, 2016, 02:21:01 am »
Hi, I am sure this has been addressed before, so feel free to point me to the relevant thread, but I looked and could not find it.

I am wondering the best practice scenario for protecting your OpenLedger browser wallet. As I understand it, the keys are stored on your personal computer/browser. This leaves me open to anything from a ransom ware attack to a key-logger. Any ideas? Is there a Trezor like solution I can use? thx.

General Discussion / New Prediction Market Asset ETHWAR, advice?
« on: July 26, 2016, 06:58:54 pm »
I just created my first prediction market asset called ETHWAR on openledger. Would someone please take a look at it and advise on whether I did it right? Also how are people supposed to find prediction market assets if they are not actively looking?
