Stakeholder Proposals / Proposal - Decentralized Crypto Gateway (Ubernet)
« on: October 22, 2015, 12:39:54 am »
UPDATE: Canceled. Not enough approval from stakeholders.

BitShares CryptoeXchange (working name)

BTSCX will provide a gateway for cryptocurrencies to a decentralized storage, backing assets tradable on the BTS network (comparable to NXT's SuperNET, but without static main nodes)

For a coin to be added there need to be at least three individuals, so called signers, who hold keys to multisig addresses to store coins and assets. Two of those keys are required for a transaction to get accepted in the blockchain. The signers watch each other and react to suspicious behaviour by locking out the malicious signer, and if possible replacing him.
A multisig address can be created with a variable number of signers and required signatures, so it can be raised per-coin when more individuals applied for signing and get voted in. The number of signers should be in some way proportional to the total deposited value for (obvious) security reasons.

When a coin is added (enough signers available + successful community vote), an asset representing that coin is issued by the signers (also multisig protected), which will be given out in return for deposited coins. The deposits are immediately sent to the multisig storage address.
Returning the asset to the issuer triggers a withdrawal of the respective amount of coins.

The gateway can sustain itself through fees taken from deposits and withdrawals.

The client will support adding new coins and applying as a signer for an added coin as well as voting, trading and community functions.
Like Graphene, the UI will be standalone and can work with remote BTSCX, BTS and coin nodes.
By connecting it to a local coin wallet it will support trading directly out of or into that wallet.

A control asset will be issued, which gives the community the possibility to vote on every variable that may be set, per coin.
Those variables are (list not necessarily complete):
- coins to add
- x-of-y multisig
- offline/dropout tolerance
- fees
- distribution of fees between asset holders, signers, and burning

80% of this asset will be given to the community, 20% will stay with me to be distributed amongst the people helping to create the gateway.

The team consists of 3 persons so far (2 coders, 1 designer). As a rough estimation it'll require about 6 months and at least 30k USD to develop a working product. This would only cover a very basic version though. Adding more features like a trollbox or margin trading will boost that up quite a bit, and if we want to include marketing and further development, even 300k USD could easily be spent in a year. There won't be a company in Switzerland though, promised!

There are 6 proposed workers, amounting to 60k BTS/day each, running for three months (Dec/Jan/Feb). With this setup and current prices having all 6 voted in for 1 month, or 2 for three months, secures the minimum funding.  Donations of BTC, BTS and BitUSD will be accepted when the initial 30k USD target is met through those workers, or during February if it's possible to fill an eventual gap.

In March 2016 the value in USD for everything that came in will be calculated, and 80% of the control asset will be given out proportionally, sharedropping the worker income's part on BTS accounts. Details on that sharedrop need to be discussed, I'm not sure if a proportional drop on everyone makes sense. Whoever holds that asset should participate in the voting.

Hello BTS community

If you're not interested in me and why I'm here, at least take the time to read the next post, that's the upcoming announcement work-in-progress :)

Some may remember me from the very early days of PTS mining, or my time as CSO at MMC.
Others could know me under the alias pharesim as a founding member of HZ and creator of HZxchange.

The prototype of HZxchange is working, but it has a flaw (apart from not having enough volume): The storage is distributed, so there's still a trust issue towards the multisig key holders of the storage wallets.
I have a solution for that, but it requires a lot of coding, and probably other talents like designers and marketers. In short: money.

I started working on HZxGO, which was planned to be a completely decentralized solution, but realized that it's far too much work to make that a quality product, without me and probably a few others going full time on it. That's not possible in the HZ universe, but in BTS it is! When 2.0 comes out all the necessary functions will be available, and when we have a working BTSxGO, it can easily be ported to HZxGO. That's looks like a win-win-win-win-situation to me.

So what do you guys think? Would you like to see that happen?

Thanks to all the people who don't care about hashrate distribution over multiple pools :P

The Kimoto Gravity Well will take care about it, but it needs some blocks - join mmcpool or dwarfpool if you're not already mining there!

MemoryCoin / voting uncertainties
« on: January 02, 2014, 01:31:08 am »
While thinking about a good voting guide I realized I myself aren't completely sure about the process yet.

It is clear that only addresses can vote, not wallets like one might think after reading the current guide.
But when you look through the voting results you can see that multiple actual officers got a vote by an address holding a very big amount. The weight of that vote counts different for each of those officers.
Does that mean that the weight of the vote is calculated once, when voting, and keeps like that until a new vote is given?

Good that someone took the initiative - it probably would be great if the officers knew who you are, so they can support you (information, reward, help)!

Please contact CMO or me.

MemoryCoin / [CSO] official supporters (hiring)
« on: December 26, 2013, 11:00:53 pm »
I think I just got voted as CSO. My wallet tells me I already got some MMC.

Like I stated in my application I want to build a team of people from different parts of the world to guarantee constant availability.

If you would like to be part of the team send me a private message including the following information:
- age
- location
- online times (with timezone!)
- platforms (irc, forums)
and anything else that qualifies you/I could be interested in ;-)

Please do not post your application here, I will keep this thread updated.

MemoryCoin / [CSO] Support team status
« on: December 26, 2013, 12:45:18 pm »
Who are we?
We're a team of people trying our best to help you out in every possible way :)
To accomplish this we are looking for ways to reward people writing guides, translating them, helping with individual problems and whatever may be helpful to make your MMC experience as flawless as possible.
At the moment the team needs to be extended with people from outside of europe - if you want to contribute please message me!
If you made some great contribution, message me!

Who am I?
I'm a 31 years old guy from northern germany called Michael. Rent and food get paid by a part-time job as PHP developer for a small machine trading company.
Free software has always been one of my passions, I'm working and playing with linux since more than 10 years.
My first contact with cryptocurrencies was in 2010. When protoshares started this november I was amazed by the possibilities the concept of DACs offers, since then I've been an enthusiastic part of the pts/bts community.

Why should I be CSO and manage all this?
I got some experience in managing "decentralized" teams. There's never been real money involved, so there may be some hard discussion about payouts. This is welcome, feel free to take part in the process of collecting ideas.
My "real" job only takes 4 hours a day, during which I'm available on irc. So I could easily spend 8-12 hours a day working for the success of MMC.
As a helpful person I already spend a lot of time on the bitsharestalk forum and multiple irc channels, trying to help people get their problems solved.
With my experience on linux and cryptos I'm able to get a lot of problems fixed. Not only for users, the idea to use Kimotos "Gravity Well" for diff adjustment was mine for example.
If I get elected, I will hire more supporters. My plan is to get people from different countries, so that there's always someone online who can help out with problems, no matter what time or season. Additionally I want to reward the people helping others even if they are not official supporters.

Any other plans?
With memorycoin.info there's already a nice web page. I want to stay in close contact with the creator and include as much support information as possible on that site, so there's a central point for all information.
The payout for the position is really high imho, so if there's a lot of coins left after rewarding supporters I will regularly offer giveaways to get newbies started.
Of course I will work together with the other officers, to keep you all updated about the current development.
There are several ideas how to create a knowledge database or ticket system, and more to come. Keep an eye on this thread to keep updated!

If you like what we're doing make sure to support our work by voting for me as CSO. Just send 0.00000001 MMC to MVTEcsoL9GvfezMUgEDnhr7ioRAsByuTAv

MemoryCoin / [Trading] Trading and Escrow
« on: December 20, 2013, 01:26:48 am »
As there's no exchange yet, and not everyone is able to use the spreadsheet on bitcointalk, I decided to offer escrow here.

There are three ways to place your offer:

1. post a reply on this thread
2. drop me a pm with topic [WTB]/[WTS] <amount of MMC> <BTC/MMC>
3. query me on irc #[email protected]

For those who don't know me: I've been with PTS and this community since mining started, and helping out on irc quite often. Sometimes even with operator-privileges. No need to be afraid that I steal your coins :)
Fee is 2%, the first three trades are free.
Successful trades will be posted here without usernames.

Let's create a market :)

Beware of users who don't want to use escrow (whatever reasons they pretend to have). There's been several cases of scam already!
