General Discussion / agsexplorer.com seems to be DOWN ?
« on: December 03, 2014, 10:44:41 pm »
Anyone else trying to buy a few last minute Notes today, finding the normally very reliable  AGS Explorer down?

Maybe a DDOS attack by an early buyer shutting out any end of day buyers? (too cynical right)

Muse/SoundDAC / Is content beyond Music part of the vision/roadmap ?
« on: November 20, 2014, 05:27:14 am »
I see tremendous potential for the Music Blockchain and all it's extensions. I have a few questions/suggestions:

What digital media types will be supported  (audio, video, still images) ?
Music Videos
Songs (audio only)
Digital Band Posters
Digital Band art for official T-Shirt

What content types?
Music
Movies
Audio books
Pay per view events
Subscription News Letters
Subscription News Magazines
Radio Broadcast Archives

Are 3rd parties encouraged to develop clients, support sites, etc  targeting these markets?

Thanks again, I'm looking forward to collaborating and will continue to increase my investment.

Cheers

General Discussion / Most stable Bitshares X wallet ?
« on: July 30, 2014, 09:36:02 pm »
Can someone confirm where I'll find the most stable wallets and reliable information regarding Bitshares X.  the bitshares-x.info site, looks very professional. But, the wallet version is on 0.2.2 . Is that the most stable version or is it best to use 0.2.3  ?

Is it now safe to import/redeem PTS and AGS from the new wallets, or is it best to wait?

Thanks

IMHO, Airdrops as proposed here and elsewhere are mostly misguided.

Failing restaurants, clubs, etc... Will opt to give away their product via groupons and all you can eat/drink specials. This type of shotgun/Hail Mary marketing is wasteful.

For a high percentage shot you need to research, aim and fire. I propose a "Strategic Targeted Airdrop":

Find specific much more vertical pockets/communities.
Find specific brick and mortar companies and merchants...
Find specific high profile individuals, celebrities, political and business figures, etc...
Solicit endorsements
pay for spokesmen
buy celeb tweets
etc...

Imagine a hospital with poor occupancy, should they give away services? or give shares/equity to doctors that will bring paying patients.

Should the fledgling restaurant give away food, drop prices and quality or partner with event planners and caterers?

An Airdrop implies and in effect picks a general area, drops something of value, people then randomly scavenge. often the early arrivers hoard or go back to the village and gouge those to weak to reach the drop zone.

Instead, I propose we:

Solicit the already vested Bitshares community to nominate worthy recipients.

Recipients must add value to the BitShares community:

Developers
Social media giants
Related community leaders
News worthy charities

This may sound calculating, slightly Machiavellian and not very altruistic , it is and yes it's not. This is business not charity. But in the end it allows us to continue our mission which is worthy and does serve the greater good.

Giveaways are for charity (swag at best) this is business, we behave accordingly or pay the consequences.

Hero wanted for hire, a friend who runs an alt coin reached out to me a moment ago. He needs someone to do some forensic work to see if/how they have been attacked. This is their SOS:

"I think somethings wrong with the network. The wallet says it has only 1 active connection and many transactions receive either very slow or no confirmations!"

If someone can help, please provide BTC wallet address and hourly rate. I can post this on odesk if trust is an issue. They will need ongoing support so this will be an ongoing gig. They are looking to move onto an asic resistant chain immediately if they survive this.
PM and I will provide contact info...
Thanks
Enrique

General Discussion / OpenSSL Heartbleed Vulnerability ?
« on: April 09, 2014, 05:55:51 am »
Any thoughts, concerns on the OpenSSL Heartbleed vulnerability and PTS.

http://www.bitcoinfeed.net/news/bitcoin-bitcoin-security-company-bitgo-responds-to-the-heartbleed-security-threat

“It’s fundamental to tell everyone to check all their servers and update ASAP [...] I can’t obviously be positive about it, but bitcoin-specific software (local wallets, etc.) should not be affected even if they use OpenSSL, since the bug is only triggerable in live TLS connections.”

Ps. Vertcoin has released an update to their wallet.

Keyhotee / Extend, config, white labeling of Keyhotee
« on: April 02, 2014, 06:42:43 pm »
I can see in the near future where interested parties in the ecosystem will want "one offs" of Keyhotee technology to serve various industries and vertical markets including:

Healthcare privacy firms bound to HIPAA regs
Internal corporate communications
Government communications (all levels of)
Title/Escrow companies
Logistics firms sending secure customs docs
etc...

At some point will it be possible to:

extend Keyhotee via plugins or macros?
Configure basic settings such as logos, localization, etc...?
Private label/brand Keyhotee technology

Ideally this could be done through a revenue generating licensing agreement, fueling future development.

I've posed this question on other 2.0 forums with mixed responses:

Is there merit to developing a "Blockchain Migration Path/Strategy", where one coins ledger is merged onto a DAC ?
Is it technically feasible?
What are the logistic challenges?
What would be the ideal merger(s) ?

Note, the intent is not to create a chain/coin to rule them all. But rather, a solution that embraces legacy chains that merit assimilation/consolidation under one organization family (BitShares).

Think of it as acquisitions of unprofitable alt-chains for the purpose of turning them around. These chains would ideally bring assets (developers, healthy forums, brands, merchants, etc...). As part of the acquisition, they would receive compensation as share swaps or even cash.

It seems DACs should be free to grow both organically and via mergers/acquisitions. The synergies and economies of scale benefits are many. But, the devil is in logistics, reconciliation and selection of candidates.

Any thoughts on this, the question has haunted me for about a year now, with the rise of 2.0, a window may be opening.  :-\

General Discussion / BitShares Animated Videos - [Community Theater]
« on: March 13, 2014, 02:09:02 pm »
Inspired by Brians's thread:
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3395.0;all

I thought I would play around with a video version of the FAQ. The below link will take you to a "work in progress", "proof of concept" version.
To view video click:  http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5JEewc0v87VMXWwGBsiRZRCzfx3wpwOP

Note the SAPI5 voice over is store bought,  pardon the accent. We can swap out the voice and language with a little rework.

If you’d like to collaborate we could always use:
•Voice over actors
•Graphic artist for scenes, custom objects and animated characters
•Screenplay copywriters
•Editors
•Critics

I'm also working on another community inspired production, I'll have a sneak peek later this week.
https://bitsharestalk.org/index.php?topic=3496.0;all

Please provide feedback good, bad or ugly, so I'll know whether to continue. I will post all project artifacts on Github shortly.

Cheers

General Discussion / I3 Site ranking [suggestions]
« on: March 07, 2014, 01:42:07 pm »
I thought I would start this thread in an effort to gather intel and suggestions we could pass on to the I3 SEO team.
Looking at the Alexa site rankings in the DAC/Dapp related space, I see this forum is doing well, but the invictus.io site has fallen to 3rd place in ranking.

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/invictus.io
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/bitsharestalk.org

http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/ethereum.org
http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/mastercoin.org

Possible incremental steps towards boosting the ranking include:

Keyhotee / Finding your Keyhotee Public Key
« on: March 04, 2014, 02:04:22 am »
If your like me you may have fumbled around finding your Keyhotee Public Key.

Thus far this is the best way I know (let me know if otherwise):

  • login to Keyhotee
  • select "identity" from menu
  • select "new identity" from drop down
  • begin entering your Keyhotee Id in the form
  • your "Public Key" will appear right below asynchronously

Enjoy

It occurred to me that ideally bounties should be paid whenever possible in matching AGS vs PTS.

When bounties are awarded the grant should be paid via a matching BTC to the corresponding BTC address used to purchase the AGS associated with the bounty.

Why? well it is assumed that PTS is to an extent speculative and tradable. While AGS is for vested long term stakeholders. To optimize the use of bounties AGS awards would insure the recipient is a stakeholder not a speculator. I agree this rule will have exceptions, but PTS and BTC awards should not be the rule.

The more AGS stakeholders we have the greater the number of vested parties and fewer speculators.

Does this make sense or am I all wet? maybe too draconian?
