General Discussion / Re: why price BTS drop so much ,what is wrong

Just gonna have to take the long view. Other than Ethereum, I can see not much else to hold other than BTS.

The video is fantastic! ;)

One large risk that was not addressed is the "What if the US decides to pull the plug one all gateways to purchase Bitcoin"?

This is a real risk that could harm BitUSD if the news made the price of BTSX fall more than 50 percent in an hour. :(

I believe that only 17 likes ... shows you that the marketing of BTSX has some opportunity here to focus its efforts in the Reddit forum.

Certainly we could start a new thread and begin to compel BTSX followers to become proactive.

General Discussion / Is Bitshares a "trustless exchange"?
« on: August 26, 2014, 05:14:17 pm »
I have been reading some of the posts about how Nubits is attempting to become the first "trustless exchange".

From what I gather, it seems this has been achieved with Bitshares with the BitUSD option trades ...

Trustless exchanges eliminates "negative volatility" or reduces it by zeroing out internal exchange manipulation.

External "bad actors" can not be eliminated.

thoughts?

I am just delighted to read these sharing of ideas in such an open manner. Most of it is way over my head.  :P

Technical Support / Re: Any date set for "Free registration" of wallets?

I guess I mean faucet.

How Bitassets be received without a faucet?

Perhaps the devs. want to let things build momentum first and then open the faucet?

When or what threshold are they considering for a faucet?

I'll go right ahead and urge Daniel to NOT read such threads from now on. Fame must be tempered by limited exposure to things like this.. Celebrities are not weak for shielding themselves, it is a psychological necessity ignored at peril.

Bitcoin talk forum is horrible for Bitcoin. The Bitcoin Community would be doing itself a favor ...if it could revamp the site.

Technical Support / Any date set for "Free registration" of wallets?
« on: August 24, 2014, 03:16:31 pm »
Just was hoping to know if any firm timeframe has been set for free registration of wallets.

I just want to give a shout out and say .... you guys in this community are the future.

Extremely hard working folks.

Sure like to see you guys be able to delegate some of your work loads to more folks and expand the forum site.

As Bitshares evolves you will get folks wanting to talk about other coins and what it all means as prices fluctuate.

Some of you investors may have noticed Bitcoindark shot up yesterday. Coincidentally, Coindesk had an article come out about it the day before.

Obviously large crypto holders who "mine" have a vested interest in keeping the mining industry going.

So this is where Bitcoindark comes in. Perhaps this coin is a natural opposite reaction to the DPOS momentum recently.

A mineable anonymous Bitcoin with "teleporting" ...

My knowledge of crypto is superficial ..... but, I am willing to learn and just thought I would bounce this thoughts out there ....

Sure like to hear what others are thinking.

When can we expect greater wallet stability?
with every release ... (current release rate is close to 1 release per day ;-)  )

Yhea .. you are useing cutting edge technology and that is how it feels sometimes ..
a little rough :)

I like all it.

I got my wallet synced but the balance shows 0.

How do I fix that?

Ok thanks for that part.

Now the new client says it is downloading the transaction history. Perhaps this may take some time to accomplish.

After it completes how do I reintroduce the client to my registered name?

thanks .. I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and look forward to editing the thread to resolved.

I have a windows 8 machine. I need to backup my wallet. Could someone please tell me how?

I know this is rudimentary stuff, but there are a lot of folks like me who want to invest in crypto, but are totally lost.

My wallet won't sync anymore so before I do anything I need to back it up.

Thanks

1. Do File->Export.
2. To be completely at safe side, make a backup of folder "C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\BitShares X\wallets"

3. Delete all files/folder from "C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\BitShares X" except wallets folder
4. When uninstall old client, install brand new 0.4.6 from here https://github.com/dacsunlimited/bitsharesx/releases
5. Run the client

You gave 5 steps ... thank you

How do I do step 2?

(((((2. To be completely at safe side, make a backup of folder "C:\Users\<User name>\AppData\Roaming\BitShares X\wallets"   ))))

Folks my (age 52) got money to invest .... but we need a bridge while wallet tech is emerging.
