Technical Support / Re: BitsharesX wallet Not Connected
« on: August 28, 2014, 11:55:53 am »
.... and there now is a version 0.4.9 that fixes ALOT of this ugly bugs

I've got the same 'Not connected' status with an RPC error after upgrading to 0.4.9, and getinfo reports head block age is 48 hours old...

General Discussion / Re: BitShares X inactivity fees?

It allows the blockchain to be pruned and incentivizes voting.

Maybe I'm missing something, but:

  • How exactly does having you move your BTSX encourage voting?
  • What exactly is 'pruning the blockchain', and how is it beneficial?
  • Does the client give you a warning a while before you need to move your BTSX?

Just for clarity, to avoid 5% inactivity fee, can we just move 1 bts around from each account - or do all bitshares need to be moved each year?
ALL need to be moved

What's the point in this then?

Does the client give you a warning a while before you need to engage in this pointless exercise?

General Discussion / Re: How is the bitUSD peg holding up?

Wasn't BITUSD going for 0.86 USD on BTER for a few hours yesterday, and again for a bit today?

Not to put a downer on things, but I think it's a but early to be hailing the peg as a great success.

The fees that are not kept by the delegate are destroyed, thus increasing the value of all other shares
Ah, I see, so not a dividend at all, but in theory less supply equals higher price. Maybe a stupid question, but theoretically couldn't all BTSX in existence eventually end up being destroyed?

How many delegates can I vote for?
101

I see in the client that there can be up to 101 active delegates at any time - why 101?

I see I can also 'down vote' delegates in the client too. How does that work, and how does it affect approval ratings?

General Discussion / Delegates and Dividends
« on: August 26, 2014, 10:43:26 am »
My understanding is that BTSX holders can earn dividends by voting for delegates. The delegates gain BTSX from transaction fees and loan interest, and then some of that is passed on to voters, based on their pay rate.

How many delegates can I vote for?

If I vote for more than one delegate, will I receive dividends from all of them?

Is there any disadvantage to voting for multiple delegates?
