I'm not even sure there's anything left in them. So far I've gone through restoring a bunch of Electron wallet seeds for BTC & LTC, hoping there was some kind of then-untransferrable change in there that could be worth anything. I found that they had all been emptied to the last decimal.

I don't remember what was going on with BitShares last I interacted with it. Something tells me that since I had a PTS wallet there might be some of that somewhere, otherwise I wouldn't have needed that wallet. Not sure what the KeyID app is, don't recall anything about that.

I wouldn't be surprised if both these wallets are completely empty. I wouldn't want to promise a percentage of zero & end up owing money at the end.

I looked where it would have been, & tried a dozen or so combinations of what I was using back then, to no avail.

Well, it would appear that the whole darn thing is moot- apparently I failed to document what the passwords were for these .json files when I exported them.

God only knows what riches are lost...

I guess I can try the method you mention using 0.9.2. Will have a look at those links in a little while.

Thanks, but it doesn't seem to apply.

What I've got are .json files for 2 different 'accounts' I had made long ago using the old BitSharesX client. I still have a Windows Installer for them so maybe I'll fire one up & see what happens.

I had 2 accounts back then, & still have their .json wallet files from when I ran BitSharesX. The last version I used was 0.4.23.1

If I remember correctly I also had some kind of different token from when I was running BitShares-PTS 1.0.0

I've installed BitShares2-light on Ubuntu 16.04 & none of the options I find there want my .json files.

Could use a hand.

I run Bitcoin, Litecoin, Namecoin, & BitSharesX clients in a VM with 3072MB RAM, & when I run these clients minus the BitSharesX client running, the box uses approximately 1950MB of RAM. When I start the BitSharesX client, it spikes up to using all 3000MB, plus all my 2048MB of swap.

I'm just curious as to what the BitSharesX client is doing that requires so much memory. And will it ever use less in future versions?

wow, thanks. always so much more to know. In that thread, BM follows up on Sep 4 by saying:
"As of 0.4.12 multiple accounts have independent deterministic key sequences so that is less of an issue."
So do you think it is still an issue?

I haven't seen any of the devs mention explicitly that the issue has been fully resolved, so I lean on the side of caution in the meantime.

I think it might be a good idea to set an option to set a path & automatically save a wallet backup after each transaction, with a radiobox to be able to select between 'monthly' 'weekly' 'daily', & 'after each transaction'. This way one of the automatic backup options would always be enforced, & we could change it if we wish.

In my case, I like to have iterations of each backup, & since the 'wallet.dat' filename doesn't change, I set a separate directory for each backup titled with the date of the backup. It would be nice if this feature were to be implemented, if it would allow a path to be set which would change the wallet.dat's containing directory to be named with the current date, within the base backup directory. This so that in my case I can preserve my iterations without losing the previous copy of the backup each time a new backup is created.

I documented the process, & for future reference here it is.

I've installed these apps on my system, of course not all of them are necessary to build BitSharesX, but some of them certainly are.

I was missing qttools5-dev-tools, installed it, all went well with the build, & I'm able to move on through the next step.



One final thing, on my system, I didn't have a dir to copy the .desktop file to, so I had to add a step:
