Random Discussion / Re: Why aren't there many women in crypto?
« on: February 03, 2015, 08:57:39 pm »
Well some things are not for everyone. I personally think that arguing about the whys is counterproductive, when we should be asking the hows. How can we get more women to actually use cryptocurrency.

The key is to look for the void, and fill it. Utilize what we know about them, their lifestyle, their personal preferences (just like what some of you guys describe in this thread) and create something that will help achieve what they want.

Make it more relatable. Create 'artificial demands' if there's none. Educate them. Use scare tactics when needed, why they should use a more secure form of currency when shopping online, etc. Get more women products merchant to accept crypto as payment and whatnot.

While maybe there's only a few women working on the backend of crypto technology, never underestimate their potential to help grow crypto economy as a whole. Never underestimate their true buying power. You can create the best most secure internet money in the world, but it doesn't mean jack shit if nobody ever use it. They can be the user, heck they might possibly be the majority of crypto user soon. That sounds like an important role to me.

I'm familiar with the idea of Penny Auction, but I'm not really sure if I understand your project correctly.

A - Instead of buying 'bid credit' using fiat, your user will buy bitassets using fiat in order to bid (using bitassets)?

OR

B - they have to buy bid credit using bitassets?

General Discussion / Re: Bitshares Hardware Wallet presale

I'm interested in your offering, but I'd like to gather more information about your product. Can you explain briefly how your hardware wallet works (Especially for the non-tech guys around here)?

From what I understand, Fenix is a mini-PC similar to Raspberry Pi or Android TV stick, right? So is it just a portable hardware wallet or there's some additional security features on top of it? If the answer to the latter is yes, how does it achieve that level of security?

What are the difference between your hardware wallet and Trezor or LedgerWallet? (Besides it works for Bitshares and not Bitcoin)

Small typo in 'Industry Problems' section.

Code: [Select]
Everyone takes a cut of the revenu and the artist is left with crumbs.
Great looking website btw. And that client UI mockup is sexy as hell!

Cryptonator has been my weapon of choice for this job.

Great app thanks.

Was using Coin Ticker for over a year, but they can't be bothered with updating their feeds and app.

Cryptonator user here. But I prefer to use zTrader with exchange API on my Android. Price tracker + alert, crypto market info, news and trading terminal all in one place. It support most of the major exchange API (including Bter for BTS trading).

+5% for targeting Indonesia. Great potential for remittance services in SE Asia. USD are generally accepted in most of the big cities and tourist spots in Indonesia. So promoting bitUSD to Indonesian is not something far fetched.

When I first heard about Bitcoin back in the early days when it was worthless, it was from my Indonesian friends. Their tech and early adopter community are quite big and active actually.

Some interesting crypto projects in Indonesia:

Here's the Indonesia board in this forum, maybe you can contact these two members to discuss further about their current economy and social needs.

Why has this not received much attention?

For a non-technical person like me, can anyone compare this with monsterer's efforts?
They both work in similar way. One of the obvious difference:

This one is 1:1 exchange with Gateway IOU while monsterer's is 1:1 BTC/bitBTC. Both has its own pros and cons though.

+5% hell yeah!

the config.example had a missing comma after the BterConfig value.

Spread and tolerance are both percent. MaxOrder is BTC.

Fixed. Thanks Toast.

Will pump in some fund to see it in action. :D

Getting the same error as Xeldal

Code: [Select]
panic: invalid character '"' after object key:value pair
I recheck my config and everything seems fine.

Oh btw, can you explain a little bit about the parameters? Are those numbers in percentage or BTC? Pardon my noobness.
