If I purchase Protoshares after the snapshot (today), but before bitshares-pts are received by the current PTS holder (I'm assuming that cant' happen until there's a wallet) ... do I then become the owner of the future bitshares-pts (which give shares in the first DAC, bitshares-x, + all DAC's built off it) when the wallet is released?

I think you got something confused. The thing you will get at the 15. of March or rather a bit after that is Bitshares X and you will get that by imprting your Bitshare PTS private keys to the Bitshares X wallet.
If you increase your Bitshares PTS stack now you will not increase the Bitsahres X you will get because the Snapshot was taken at the 28. of Feb. But you will increase your stake in other DACs that will be realised by invictus or others that use the invictus ecosystem....
Hope that helps.

The only dac they will release that seems worthwhile is the BTS Domains. All the others look to be shit. Was not worth mining since november.

Maybe it's time to do a proof of burn into a proto-asset that actually trades on the first Bitshares chain.  Seems miners don't understand why they'd want to keep mining now that Bitshares has split off.

i stopped ming right after the snapshot. The diff increase the week before cut 2 grand on hardware in half. in 2 more weeks, it drops in half again. This will be impossible for anyone who doesn't have free power. PTS will die because of this massive diff increases. The snapshot and fork made things worse than they should have been. People were not anticipating the diff increase to be so severe. If 2600cpm gave you 1 pts a day a few weeks ago, diff increase the other week cut that that around .3 pts. Next diff increase puts you at .15. Fuck man, it is like they are trying to force people away from PTS. Which i guess makes sense but it wasn't something that was talked about. Now having all this PTS is purely a hope that BTS turns into something worthwhile, and essentially the massive price drop made all the work of mining completely worthless. If you can by a PTS share for 5-6 dollars on the 1st of march, you miss the very first fork but have BTS in everything else once you buy, you basically say "fuck you miners, you got us started and now we are ditching you." I am kind of irritated, i guess i should have been smart enough to understand that concept way before i started mining, but there were so many changes leading up the the snap shot it is just ridiculous. Now, everyone who didn't mine was able to buy massive stake in PTS to gain BTS for all the next DACs that come out. It is not like the bingo and music dacs are going to be something amazing and make any investment worth it.... It is a slap in the face, anyone who mined should have sold at $20, right when the snapshot was announced.

bter! They are incredibly fast and I never have an issue with them. They will also trade your currency at whatever value it was at when you first open the page. Say you leave it open when pts is .17 to Btc, and an hour later the value is now .20 pts to BTC, as long as the page isn't refreshed they honor the .17 value

General Discussion / Re: Best strategy for PTS/BTC
« on: February 19, 2014, 04:42:40 am »
There is no such thing as AGSX, you probably mean BTS X.

3) has the advantage of being liquid - you can sell it again if you want to. The disadvantage is, that if you are only interested in BTS X holding PTS will only give you about 40 % the amount of BTS X per dollar compared to buying AGS.

Regarding the choice between 1) and 2): That changes from day to day. You will have to have a look at agsexplorer.com or angelshares.info to check out. The last two weeks using BTC was up to 20 % better, the last two days there was not much difference at all (± 5 %).

There is not really a difference between 2) and 4) ?

When should we make sure that we have are wallets stocked with PTS in order to receive BTS?

BitShares PTS / Why is the PTS General Discussion filled with mining posts?

Hey Mods, can you clean up this page a little bit? Seems like the general discussion is nothing more than another mining support board now.

Nvidia cards support will be greatly appreciated. ;)
Please make it happened!

Most of the PTS miners are for nVidia Cards. Check out PTSGPUz or cudaptsminer.

BitShares PTS / Re: Why is ypool destroying PTS? (70% mined by ypool)
« on: January 15, 2014, 09:23:58 pm »

You'll have higher variance in smaller pools; however (assuming that you have the same hashrate) on average, a lower fee pool should pay out more than a high fee pool.

be^5 is 2.5% vs ypool's 6%, and I'm planning to have all my machines pointed there for a long time, so I don't mind.  Plus, having that much hashing power at one node opens up the risk of a double spend attack :/  I think it would be neat if somebody could develop a standard p2pool-like distributed pool for current and future DACs.

When you say 'higher variance' do you mean the chance of finding a block or a higher value share increases?

BitShares PTS / Re: Mining pools for noobs

start with what miner you are using?

If you cant see the .bat file, you are probably using bytemasters miner

If thats the case, you need to create a .bat file inside your minerbin folder

1- in minerbin folder right click and create a new .txt file,  name it whatever you want, and change the.txt  to  .bat

2- save this in the new .bat file...
Code: [Select]
POOL_MINER.EXE the-iland.net PruMNRMkp3C1dVAkGRsmUxqtVoNdMyVcKT (replace my address with your address and click save

3- double click the new .bat file and your miner should start mining with the PTS address you entered

I am using Coyote and when i run the file (address is set to my PTS-qt wallet) coyote opens in cmd and does a benchmark test then closes. So i then open protoshares-qt and start mining there, but something seems off. After mining all day, there is no balance update. Is there any way to tell if it is running properly? Also, I was under the impression that the protoshares-qt.exe was just the wallet and the coyote miner would be doing the mining.

BitShares PTS / Re: Coyote Pool 2.0 - One Day Rounds Proportional Payout
« on: December 04, 2013, 09:34:39 pm »
When i run Coyote_miner for windows (pool_miner) it performs the bench mark test in console, finishes and closes. After running protoshares-qt mining software i can't tell if i am actually mining and it is going to a pool or if i am just wasting CPU power. Wallet balance and Unconfirmed balance remain at 0.00. I have been mining for hours at 20 cpm. Any way to tell if this is working?

We lost our heavy hitter and are back to 300 shares per minute from 1500 shares per minute which means that on average this pool is finding less than 1 block per day.  Your balance is reporting 0 because we have found 0 blocks.

Thank you Bytemaster, especially for the quick reply!
