Random Discussion / Re: Why aren't there many women in crypto?

My 3 year old daughter knows more about circuit boards than any low voltage tech I have ever met.  She knows more about coding in javascript than most first year cs majors.

Girl power! http://youtu.be/o8Ui4xXL19A

Ya know, I'd like to also mention here that to teach crypto is quite simple..
Take your bitcoin-curious female friend out for lunch. If she drives, you buy.
Tell her that you'll show her in about 5min how easy bitcoin is to use. (this assumes the cafe accepts bitcoin)
She installs mycelium, you send her some bitcoin, she pays for lunch. Send her another couple bucks worth of bitcoin on the drive home for the gas.
When you get home, show her how to do a backup, use coinality, do some online shopping, etc.
Planting seeds is fun, no? :)

Peace thru Crypto

Have done / am continuing to do just exactly that!

Do you run the "rawdog" u tube channel?

nope. thats not me.

Great stuff, should be an intelligent crowd of listeners - will bring in some more smart people!

Just watching this VERY interesting discussion. Here is a bit hinting at bitshares "assets" and backing / enforcement / legal implications etc... (1:25) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inacX37Ix8g&feature=player_detailpage#t=5140

<edit> Quote the Eris guy: "assets are things in action - they don't have existence until a court orders their enforcement"... wait... Isn't the whole idea of blockchains that they have rules AND their enforcement baked in?

11
Tether IOUs? will get them into the idea of fiat on the chain..... until the next gox event i guess.

12
quote:
"Tomorrow, XUSD markets will be replaced with Tether USD (USDT) markets. XUSD open orders will be closed, and XUSD will move to a regular BTC pairing. HYP and MMXIV will be removed from the USDT markets, but will remain in their BTC pairings."

There are so few women interested in crypto for the same reason most guys don't want to paint their bedroom walls pink.  You can talk all day about how great pink is, and the benefits of pink over any other color, but at the end of the day, most guys still wont care.  It doesn't interest them.  Most women wont be interested until they are presented with an appropriate use case that only crypto can solve. If you want to get women interested, find the use cases they care about FIRST before rambling on with the technobabble.
