This is not good. Price is still controlled by some individuals. Marketing needs to start soon to get some USD/BTSX and others going.

I believe we could overcome bitcoins in 6 - 12 months.

I see you are very confident in the marketing team. I'm still not sure if they can get this much trading volume. But I would love to be wrong..

Its not just what the marketing team can do for you, its what you can do for the marketing team (or bitshares). :D

Furthermore, if you have good ideas, which you may (we all have good ideas inside of us), then go to the Marketing Forum and/or Press forum.

Yes I did do that but I never get straight answers to my questions and suggestions so I don't feel they really listen. That's the main reason I lost confidence in them and I don't think this thing will take off without them and the ags funds.. but hey as I said I love to be proven wrong.

General Discussion / Re: Developers: Some observations about the codebase.

Hi Guys,

I'm fascinated with your idea for BitUSD, so I recently bought some BTSX on an exchange and then downloaded the wallet to start experimenting.  Because my wallet kept crashing, I started looking at the bitsharesx codebase on github.

There seems to be some missing tests.  I can't find tests for many of the classes.  I also noticed that several of the classes are very large with dozens of methods each, and frequently the methods themselves are quite long - this makes testing them very difficult.  If you could  refactor these large classes and methods into a more manageable object model, i.e., extract out new classes from the large ones so you have more classes, smaller classes, with fewer methods, it'll be a lot easier to test them.

Ideally, from the perspective of an investor, I'd love to see a TDD approach with the goal of 100% test coverage.  In that scenario I believe that many of the bugs users are experiencing would be avoided, and investor confidence would soar.

I haven't programmed in C++ for over a decade so maybe the tests are there and I just missed them.  In that case, feel free to kick me in the head and point me in the right direction :)

 +5%

Even with the TDD approach it will be hard to get 100% Test Coverage. 70%-80% is more than enough I feel. I don't know c++ so I don't know how difficult it is to mock or stub dependencies but I can imagine it is allot harder then in c#.

General Discussion / Re: Why is the focus on BitShares and not BitAssets

We could focus on DACs, we could focus on BitSharesX, on bitAssets or any of a half dozen other things coming out of this innovation machine, but our brand is one thing - BitShares.

Without a brand, a concept, or an idea for the public to get their mind around, you have nothing that will scale. It won't be understood or adopted.  Look at google. They have gmail, google maps, google this and google that. But they started as Google. They were so good at branding, they became a verb!

Believe me, I am as much of a believer in bitAssets as anyone (I was the first to say the phrase "bitAssets are the real Bitcoin killer") but we start with BitShares. Everything starts there.

Google's main product is thier search engine. It is easy and everyday people use it. BitShares is complex technology which should be marketed to the tech folks and traders. BitAssets ( to everyday people who want to enable their website so I can pay in BitUSD, right? If we focus our efforts on the product the technology will benefit as well. People who want to understand the underlying tech will flow to bitshares and use it to trade. Mass adoption of BitAssets in my opinion is better than marketing to a few hundred geeks..

patience guys until the product gets more stable in newer versions... let's eliminate first some bug's and the product will well known to the masses very soon...

I didn't mean the lack of it at the moment. I was questioning the focus once it is stable :)

I'm just interested why marketing focuses on BitShares(company) and not BitAssets(product).

I can see the reasoning a little if I focus on the crypto community pro's but if I look at the big picture all that count's is the product.

Thoughts?

The only way you can find real bugs is to release it.
as a software developer I can not agree with that statement. i think it should be possible to do very good integration tests automaticialy with unit testing and a proper test network/chain

If you want to see DPOS in action - very very soon…if you want to see working bitAssets -seems like not that soon.

Great thanks. Will be back in a few months then :) Have fun testing. looks good so far.

'I'm interested if we are only a few weeks away from a usable consumer product or still monts'

This only depends on your definition of 'consumer product'...

ok let's say trading some bitUSD from one wallet user to another. The real bug free enduser product is very hard to predict ;)

Hi Guys. I didn't follow the boards very much the last few weeks.. Are we testing sending Bitshares to eachother on the webclient or already Bitassets?

Thanks for the update.. I'm interested if we are only a few weeks away from a usable consumer product or still monts
