All,

I couldn't find any discourse on the Forum over the oft-brought-up but not resolved need to change Bitshare's name.

This name was "OK" in 2014, but is no longer very fitting in the 2018 regulatory climate, as detailed by the Bitshares foundation (bitshares[/member].fdn/report-spokesperson-bitshares-blockchain-foundation-on-bittrex-inc-and-other-regulatory-issues]https://steemit.com/bitshares/@bitshares.fdn/report-spokesperson-bitshares-blockchain-foundation-on-bittrex-inc-and-other-regulatory-issues)

I'd like @xeroc @bitcrab and other top BTS holders to weigh in on what the latest is on this issue as well as next steps.

I've heard the suggestion BTX and liked it. However, I don't like the idea of "pidgeonholding" the name into a "Dex-only", as that is never what Bitshares was intended only to be - its a full featured platform/ecosystem. Also couldn't decide what BTX is "supposed to stand for" - Bitshares Dex? BitDex?

To this end, a more drastic name change would be welcome too (E.g. AntShares ---> NEO, RaiBlocks --> Nano) - something that epitomizes Bitshares role as the center of a financial ecosystem.

REMEMBER, this name needs to roll of the tongue, and to help you "think bigger, Pinky.." ... Imagine Stan repeating it 100's of times in his public talks...

Some ideas for names and  symbols:

Base (XBS) - Simple, straight forward... makes sense as a "collateral" "Base Tokens, or Base Credits" as long form.. similar to "BAT" as style of name.. branding for Dex would be "BaseDEX")
BTX (BTX) (mainly an acronym, like EOS.. what does it stand for though? BitX / BitDEX is an idea - leaving the focus on using BTX as the official brand).
SMRT (XSX, XSC) (or BitSmart - reference to smart assets - shorten name, like LBRY..... "Smart Credits"...
Nucleus (XNC) Cool name, does it fit?

BTSBOTS was overly reliant on Poloniex for price feed stats.

This is not true. Btsbots price feed deviated from poloniex by a lot, because it was heavily weighted by Chinese exchanges with high volume.
When I last used it, it was either Poloniex or hardcoded prices - no other price feed sources. It was about this time that BTSBOTs completely ceased functioning correctly for me :(

In any case, this bot will be designed to allow for custom feed weighting and offsets.

I support this project and will be volunteering my help throughout.

I've forked and architected major improvements to other MM bots on github (similar to Trade Machine) and have done over $150mm in non-direction market making volume. This expertise will go towards advising this project.

Please Stat-Dude as proxy if you haven't already.

General Discussion / Re: SmartCoin based on ETF
« on: December 17, 2017, 08:59:32 pm »
Such suggestion is raised once in a while, and a lot of people show interest in ETF traking smartcoins. The problem that hardly any ETF can outperform crypto. If you want to peg a smart coin to ETF, this should be some killer ETF, which at least outperforms USD, GOLD and SILVER.

I agree. That is why I would perhaps suggest using the 3x ETFs which allow for higher risk.

Technical Support / Re: Any tutorials on issuing UIA's?

I still don't get the process of converting from a UIA to a SmartCoin, or how exactly new SmartCoins are issued. I'd like to see an official BitETH, for example.

General Discussion / Re: btsbots wallet release v0.0.1
« on: December 10, 2017, 03:26:44 pm »
Urgent (since we're not going to get answers from BTSbots dev, looks like):

Now that BTSBots is  gone, liquidity (# of orders) has nearly evaporated per Cryptofresh charts.

How is this movement going (not-btsbots): https://steemit.com/notbtsbots/@aperson/introducing-not-btsbots

How is the new (public) bot (developed and paid for by BTS community) going?

We need something asap, collectively, to replace the void left here.

Urgency and need creates results, so I look at this as an opportunity.
