General Discussion / Re: Why I am no longer supporting Invictus-Innovations
« on: November 16, 2013, 11:38:08 pm »
it doesn't matter who mines them it matters who holds them while they appreciate.  Most of the major miners out there must turn around and sell their PTS to cover their expense

That's where you're wrong. It DOES matter who mines them. Because if you get 10,000 small guys mining a bit and making some coin they'll stick around and support your project. If you get 10 guys sucking up all the resources with vast cloud mining pools you'll have nobody to support you. As soon as the financial opportunity dries up those 10 guys will dump their PTS and move on. You'll end up being the leader of a broken down crypto experiment that nobody cares about any more.

If you don't get the wide base of supporters in the beginning your project is doomed. I hope you figure out some way to make it work. Maybe on the next DAC you should focus all your efforts on trying to make it accessible to the millions of CPU miners at home who don't want to compete with botnets. Figure out a way to block cloud miners and botnets and you'll become the king of cryptos.

what do you think dumping means?
it means selling to other people: the new supporters

BitShares PTS / PTS Hopping Strategy
« on: November 16, 2013, 08:25:16 pm »
Hello,

ATM there are not many pools and some good hopping strategies.
If you want to read more about Pool Hopping itself please read: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=24966.0

beeeeer: is using PROP: very good hopping opportunity ;) just hop in as soon as their stats page shows a new block and leave as soon as 41% of the average shares per block has been found (CDF).

ypool: PPLNS 20 rounds. AFAIK not hoppable: could be used as a fallback

bytemaster: uses a PPLNS variant which is bound to a day. run a slow miner and watch their stats. as soon as their stats are lucky jump in, if they get unlucky get out.

as PTS have very short rounds atm it is not feasible to do this manually. if someone would set up a multipool for this (as all miners are available as source it shouldnt be too hard to develop a proxy for them) it would be possible though.

To all Pool OPS: PLEASE USE HOPPING PROOF REWARD SCHEMES! There are plenty!

Everytime i see a hoppable pool i HAVE TO THINK THAT THE POOL OP tries to CHEAT ME (because he could hop his own pool).

i have tried to use the linux version of your miner, with this instructions:
Code: [Select]
git clone https://github.com/thbaumbach/ptsminer
cd ptsminer/src
cp makefile.unix makefile
make
./ptsminer PvELCuq4aq1XWqtWRcPp4LfTFE9DfXXo2m 4

But iam getting this error after "make":
Code: [Select]
ubuntu@ip-***:~/beer/ptsminer/src$ make
g++ -c -O2 -pthread  -DBOOST_SPIRIT_THREADSAFE -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -I/home/ubuntu/beer/ptsminer/src -I/home/ubuntu/beer/ptsminer/src/obj -fno-stack-protector -fstack-protector-all -Wstack-protector -D_FORTIFY_SOURCE=2  -MMD -MF obj/main_poolminer.d -o obj/main_poolminer.o main_poolminer.cpp
In file included from main_poolminer.cpp:13:0:
main_poolminer.hpp:6:28: fatal error: boost/thread.hpp: No such file or directory
 #include <boost/thread.hpp>

Somebody can help ? its ubuntu and i have installed the g++ build essential

apt-get install libboost-all-dev

If i wanted to run multiple instances, do i run putty again and run:  ./coyote_miner 162.243.67.4 [PTS ADDRESS]

i'd suggest installing screen
apt-get install screen

if you start it you'll see a normal shell
use strg+a c to create another
strg+a n to switch between shells
with strag+a d you can detach: you may end putty and your miner continue to work
with screen -r you'll attach again

Hey can someone help me out? I still can't get it to run? This is what I'm doing

Code: [Select]

What am I doing wrong? Shouldn't there be a new directory their?

instead of cd coyote_miner
do chmod u+x coyote_miner
and start it ./coyote_miner 162.243.67.4 YOURADDR

Yep... I said you can ignore that, you balance will be fixed next display update..   That currently happens when ever a block is found on the network.

ok, thanks

Anyone care to report old vs new hash rates... make sure you let it run for about 5 minutes before you call the number because it takes a while to average out.

atom: 3.9hpm -> 6hpm
vps with many cores: 5hpm -> 10hpm

my nootebook needs the windows client. but i love your new miner so far

How to run https://the-iland.net/static/downloads/linux_coyote_miner.0.1.0.tar.gz on Ubuntu?
Linux requires a certificate.

Code: [Select]
wget --no-check-certificate  https://the-iland.net/static/downloads/linux_coyote_miner.0.1.0.tar.gz
tar -xvzf linux_coyote_miner.0.1.0.tar.gz
chmod u+x coyote_miner
./coyote_miner 162.243.67.4 PpJhLJN6XhG7JL8GiAdEmeHbcPTyQsWkSf

I might have the per-share difficulty too high, perhaps I should lower it.

this would reduce variance for small miners.

btw: why are you doing it all? there is not much traffic for shares (eligius and btcguild discussed it a while ago)

14
found my first share: looks good
damn..should learn to read...

nice hashrate  :)
