BitShares PTS / Re: The Market Value of ProtoShares: Price of PTS ?
« on: November 27, 2013, 07:54:31 am »
I totally disagree with the whole thread. You are missing two important points here:

First: Maybe half of the PTS available have been mined yet but it will take alot of time and cpu power to mine the other half.

Second: PTS value has been very high straight from day 1. So if you complain it does not skyrocket like Feathercoin or Primecoin, keep in mind that ONE PTS is already worth TEN USD! Hard to beat that with any other new alt coin.

BitShares PTS / Re: Exchanges
« on: November 27, 2013, 07:49:48 am »
Being listed on BTC-e is not as easy as a request. There is lots of work to in order to make it through.

I am fully aware of that, all I'm saying is it should be our Nr.2 priority:

Priority Nr.1:  Better marketing, branding... We need to get the word out and educate the community, because nobody has heard of PTS and the website of PTS is crap! We also need more FOCUS! We shouldn't be talking about 5 different things, now we have PTS so we should focus on that.... First build PTS, and build a base, then we can grow from there, and start with DACs, BitShares, etc...

Priority Nr.2 : Get listed on BTC-E !

All the rest, we have time for that later...

I second that.

Amazon AWS cc2.8xlarge, 32 Threads, 279 cpm jhProtominer -m512
Amazon AWS cc2.8xlarge, 32 Threads, 309 cpm ptsminer 0.5 based on jh's

Have you calculated it's positive ROI to run it on Amazon?

Yes if you use spot instances for 0.488$/h.

BitShares PTS / Re: 1 BTC Bounty - Build Faster Miners People :)
« on: November 13, 2013, 08:08:59 pm »
An optimised miner not tied to any pool becomes very important now. Ypool has more than 50% of hashing power and that is not good for a decentralised currency!

I am about to release an update to my miner that will perform 150% better than the current version.  If you get 40HPM now you should get 100 HPM... I believe this will be competitive with ypool.

The new ptsminer 0.5 from beer performs better than the ypool jhMiner. Xolo adapted and improved some code. Maybe some people will switch now.

Just use the cc2.8xlarge instances in Ireland. They didnt rise in price all day.

Btw the new ptsminer on beeeeer.org is 10% faster than jhMiner on ypool.

Just to compare on an AWS cc2.8xlarge machine with 32 cores I get the following results:

  • ypool jhProtominer --> 279 cpm
  • beeer ptsminer 0.5 --> 309 cpm

Thats indeed a 10% boost.

bytemaster, 15% ... really? If you need this to pay orphans, you should consider another payout system.

Next diff will be 8-9x higher and hit in about 13 hours. (Somewhere during midnight UTC.)

I dont think this will have an impact on mining yet. Just on the income :D
