Random Discussion / Re: BTSX User Newton - Please Contact
« on: September 11, 2014, 04:41:15 am »
I posted a post in Bitcointalk and sent an email to all members in the GB about the condition of the Jupiters when they arrived.  KNC uses about the cheapest packaging material and over 30% of he boxes had large tears and almost all of the boxes rattled.  If you search the Bitcointalk or KNCminer forum you can see countless threads of Jupiters arriving in pieces.

To avoid all the problems that would have arisen due to selling and shipping I bought all the Jupiters myself.  If you look at the auction thread I am the highest bidder at the end of the auction. I paid 12.86 BTC for all of them.  As I mentioned in previous thread this will be distributed as soon as I can connect with my developer.

To think that I am profiting from mining with Jupiters  is just not true.  Enter 500GH/s  and 550W of power into any mining calculator and you will see Jupiters are barely break even or negative at current difficulty and price. Instead I have sold some  but mostly I have given them away to Crypto newbs that are interested in mining.

I will distribute the auction amount as soon as  I can connect with my developer.

I would like to address a few things pointed out in this thread.

First off, I am not a professional manager or a programmer, just an avid crypto supporter.

What started out as a small  poject to share some risk and costs with some preordered asic hardware, morphed into a large GB which purchased 26 Jupiters and hosted for 6 months mining 1498 BTC and all of it paid out in member dividends and expenses.
 https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtH6ASvoAExHdF9IcFh3QmQ2dEt4Zk5qT3lRUDFDTVE&usp=drive_web#gid=37

Because of the complexities of making regular payments I personally paid a programmer to make me  autopayment software. This idea turned out to be my archilles heel. Between uncompleted software and programmers  deciding not to show up anymore caused me a lot of grief.

So now I have paid out all the 1498 mined BTC and and now trying to coordinate a time with my current programmer to payout  auction proceeds from sle of Jupiters and NMC. But between technical issues and both of us working full time it has not happened yet.

The second GB is also waiting for a time commitment from me and my programmer to pay out the total mined. But if you check all mining addresses from second GB, all the funds are still in ther respective mining addresses as well as the escrow payment from the sale of the Cointerras.

I have never experienced anxiety attacks before, but that is the only thing I can explain when I try to click on a Bitcointalk.org link.  It is nearly impossible for me to visit that forum anymore.

Could my mangement of the above GB been a lot better? yes, but  I also learned a lot during the process.

Neither one of these GB's was a good investment as hindsight shows we would have been better off holding our coins. But hindsight is 20/20. This is also part of the reason some members are so upset, and  I am too as I was one of the largest shareholder in the group.

Am I dishonest and a scammer?  I took in and paid over 1498 BTC  in one GB  and am in the process of paying out the 50  BTC remaining in the 2nd GB and NMC as soon as I can connect with my programmer.

For the peole who really know me, the payments will happen.

I am sorry about the delay, I will try and make rest of payments ASAP

There is no information in wiki to register the cold storage name.

Made a huge mistake tonight by not doing that step.

Go short/long at the same time.   If the short "wins" then borrow real USD to buy the USD necessary to cover and claim your profits, then repay the real USD from those profits.  If the "short" loses, cover with your long position and keep your long yield.

This will give you a position better than just holding BTSX.    The trick is that this position requires your "short" to be matched which means you have to buy at or above the median feed.   Ie: supporting the peg *and* you must pay more than all the other shorts.   The good news is that if people do this then it will end up supporting the PEG *AND* paying a high yield on USD.... thus greatly increasing demand for USD *AND* thus increasing the value of BTSX which then maximizes your real investment in BTSX.

So  if you have 100000 BTSX  you should  take 50000 BTSX  and buy BitUSD  and the other 50000 you should short BitUSD?

So what is "at or above median feed"?  the numbers listed beside "Range"?

+5% .. I thought about this too .. and his recent sickness might be the result of the overwhelming duties and recent progress ..
however, we need to also address vikram, dan N., toast, stan and all those that are doing the coding without us noticing ..

maybe we can send them something to take a break during the work day ..
 - table tennis
 - massage chairs
 - espresso machine
 - a bunch of fruits

I think there are plenty of ways for them to get a short break and enjoy life ..

Wasnt aware of any recent sickness? but the suggestions here of just pizza, redbull and pop diet would be doing damage to  any human, never mind all the developers.

Need to be eating a balanced diet preferably without any redbull or pop

I think that the most important thing in cryptos is security and no one seems to find a very easy way to store cryptos offline...

I mean something really easy and stupid..Like a small usb stick that you plug into your pc and stores all your coins offline and once saved on that stick no one can ever ever get control of them unless he can steal this usd stick from you and also your passphrase and maybe other security questions etc... If something so easy like that is invented then I would be very confident to just move all my bank accounts into this usb stick, convert them to Bitshares, biteur, bitusd, bitbtc and never use any bank ever again...Until that day comes unfortunately cryptos will have to be just a small bet of money that I wouldn't care if I lose them anyway and I am pretty sure a lot of people out there feel the same as me...

How difficult is something like that to be invented?

Armory has an application like this for BTC, but does not exist yet for BTSX.

Trezor too is an secure way of storing coins offline and is about the  size of a USB stick

List your gold for sale in marketplace, once you have a buyer and an agreed price and terms.

Contact an escrow agent,( I used cass for my escrow agreements and he did a good job)

Buyer sends BTSx to escrow agent, escrow agent confirms with both buyer and seller that they have received payment. You send gold to buyer, and once buyer confirms delivery of gold, payment is released to you the buyer,

Once you have BTSX you can buy BitGLD  :D

General Discussion / Re: Delegate Legal Fund
« on: September 01, 2014, 07:50:24 pm »
Rather than being defensive and assuming the government will go after delegates, I think a better solution would be for delegates to be proactive and participate in discussions with regulators. My strategy is to be 100% legit all the time, I'm not going to hide and hope my anonymity can protect me (it can't). At the same time, I don't see any clear regulatory problems at the moment, but I plan on participating in discussions with regulators and complying with whatever comes up as the proper way to legitimize/protect consumers/follow the law (whatever someone wants to call it). As of now, BTSX and BitUSD are just crypto currencires and as such I'm following the proper tax laws and FINCEN guidance as any miner of cryptocurrencies should.

If bitsharesx really takes off, delegates (and users) may want to get together and figure out a centralized approach to handling regulation - sort of like the bitcoin foundation does for bitcoin.

well said  +5%

funds could be pooled to create a lobby group to proactively work with regulators

100% "legit" means that the interests who are currently employing treasonous measures against the public will gain more control over the ecosystem.  The only reason, for instance, that the IRS still exists and forces "taxes" (read theft) on citizens is because there have not been enough people who got pissed off about the IRS' Illegal Operations to change the status quo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azynljXxbC0).

Being "legit" is fine...but it is a whole other thing to comply with illegal requirements simply out of fear that we will be imprisoned or otherwise penalized.  This simply lends to the public's sense of legitimacy over these types of institutions...which most can agree, are illegal (meaning those working for them should be the ones penalized!).

This is precisely why I am thinking it is important to have a legal team there and ready in the instances that legal cases present themselves as opportunities to set precedents favorable to our ecosystem.

Perception is reality.   If Bitshares delegates are making the appearance that they are trying to be legit goes a long ways towards positive public perception.

A good example is carbon credits, it appears that big buisness is trying to be enviromentally freindly to the public. But truth be known they dont really care as long as they are protecting the bottom line.
