Technical Support / Re: Missing BTSX sent to wrong adress via BTER
« on: August 25, 2014, 01:23:56 pm »
Bter does not use the BTSX address to make transfers, you need to use your registered BTSX name.

Your transfer of BTSX is probably canceled or pending, In either case you still have the BTSX in your Bter account, check your withdrawl status

Stakeholder Proposals / Re: Non-Technical Delegates of the World Unite!

Spoke to rivrhead about it last night and it seems it should be any more difficult than cloud mining pts was.

It's actually exactly the same. Get a host, build the CLI client, open/unlock your delegate wallet and make sure block production is turned on.

After that it's just tuning: Number of max/desired connections, some iptables (firewall) and sshd setup to lock things down a bit and Bob's your uncle, you're a delegate candidate.

Is there a link to a step by step guide?

Technical Support / Re: Specs for a new computer
« on: August 23, 2014, 02:07:30 pm »
I am running my wallets on an iMac using OSX 10.8.4 with a 3.2GHz Intel Core i5 and 8 GB of ram.
When using the wallets BTC PTS and BitSharesx my computer, at times, runs so slowly that it is almost unusable.

I have decided that for security and other reasons to purchase a laptop to use only for crypto currencies and will most likely switch to a windows based machine.....

Question: What is most important for smooth operation
a.)RAM
b.)processor speed
c.) other criteria

Is there a problem transferring dat or json files from OSX to Windows ? Annoyingly my dat files from OSX show up as VLC media player files.

Any help and advice would be appreciated

I would suggest also downloading CCleaner, it has a free version and it does a great job of cleaning and organizing all temp and broken files and should speed your computer up substancialy

The computer you have is more than good enough to run the qt client.

Multibit is another good wallet option.  You can alos import your  private keys from QT to Electrum or Multibit

I nominate fuznuts as the official BitShares Ambassador-At-Large.

flattered, donkey, but have to be honest. Someday once im completely done with school, my wife will be expecting meto get a better paying job :P

What ive done here was never meant to be an end...it was meant to spark others to action in hopes that the community would offer their grassroots support to education, marketing and journalism that for a long time it was lacking.

Once beyond bitcoinx is finished, ill likely walk away and try to find something else that makes me hopeful for my baby's future in this sadly corrupt world. In bitshares ...and dan, I saw an opportunity to help something worth helping.

You know, thougb...there is nothing keeping ANY of you from being ambassadors :P

Staying with Bitshares and continuing to do the admirable job you do now, will earn you the $$$ you seek to support your growing family. I think I can speak for most of the members of this forum

I am interested in knowing how many people are wanting to take part in a Google Hangout with screensharing so people can see precisely how to do it.

We will post it to the BeyondBitcoin Channel on Youtube and to the BeyondBitcoin SubForum.

hands up
